Well they have only run one race so far but Cerrutti finished in 5th place in a slow time of 10.49! What in the world happened? How do you go from running a 10.13 just a week and a half ago to this? I don't get it. Maybe he is sick or something? Bolt ran a 10.20 in the same heat to win it.

Heat two goes as expected with Asafa, Collins and Pickering all advancing. Craig ran a 10.21 with 0 wind! I wish NBC would hurry up and start showing coverage. It's killing me to not watch this live. Why do we have to see the heats tape delayed. Oh well. Good job Craig. Keep it up! By the way, in that same heat number 2, Dariusz Kuc ran a frustrating 10.44! He is getting slower by the year. Kuc is still only around 21 or so but he is going backwards after showing so much promise just two years ago.

I feel bad for Unger. He had to run into a strong negative wind and he just missed out. We have qualified these guys so far, pending further notification:

Pickering, Collio, Epishin, and Osovnikar.

We will have to see what other guys that didn't finish in the top 3 still make it. I can't believe how many guys underacheived. Even Walter Dix of the USA barely made it in with a 10.35 and he has gun sub 10! Very crazy and unpredictable for the first round.

The quarterfinals are coming up later this afternoon in China.

I think Unger was among the "fastest losers list". He is competing in his poorer event. Maybe because of racing fitness he doesn't have the endurance for the deuce this year? But a former World/Olympic finalist in the deuce should be racing in that event too.

Here are the quarter lists. I feel sorry for Pickering as he will have to pb to semi-final. His group on paper looks to be the deepest.......Qual. rule: first 3 of each heat (Q) plus the 1 fastest time (q) qualified.

Most of the guys we are rooting for got the worst lanes like Pickering in lane 9. It's very rare to run fast in lanes 1, 2, 8, or 9. Usually it would be 1/2/7/8 but they have an extra lane due to the higher number of sprinters. The only guy that got an ok lane is Andrey Epishin of Russia. It will take the race of all of these guys life to over come the bad lane draws and the competition which is faster than ever. Well, let's see what happens. I really belive that it would crush Pickering if he couldn't even make he semis! I hope he can run a huge p.b. Edited by: white lightning

Craig ran a 10.18 and missed out by 0.02 of a second on making it to the semi final. Naoki Tsukahara of Japan qualified with a 10.23, so Craig is a little unlucky not be in a semi. He is the fastest white man on the planet at the moment!

I wonder if he thought he had enough to get through. The majority of the time, that will get you to the semis anywhere. I was afraid this would happen. None of our guys made it. I will have to root for Tsukahara just to help break the stereotypes. Craig just drew the wrong heat. We all knew he would proabably need a personal best to advance. Damn am I bummed.

Bad as this news is, it might have a silver lining. Potential drug cheats Bolt and Gay will likely medal, thereby setting them up for a couple of years from now when news surfaces what frauds they are.

I'm not angry that the winners in this particular event happened to be black -- I'm angry that they're cheaters. Lots of good black men from smaller African nations tried awfully hard in these races, and it's likely they didn't drug themselves to do it. Edited by: GiovaniMarcon

I just watched the quarterfinals on TV. Bolt looked like he was jogging the last 50m on his way to a 9.92. He made a 9.9 look so easy it was unnatural. I can't wait for him to get busted for PEDs.

I can't believe the commentators when it comes to Bolt. It almost seems like its Jesse Ventura and McMahon commentating. Yes Bolt has a world of talent but he isn't unworldly like they have been saying. His PED routine just works to perfection with his physical make up. The day he gets busted I will post a hahahahah column on this site....

Bolt PR goes from 10.03 to 9.69 in one year! Well, then there's hope for all 10.5 sprinters of the world --- with a similar performance "boost", you too can be world-class next year!

That would be a good improvement even for someone who had been a couch potato prior to taking up track. Sometimes kids have a late growth spurt that would improve times, but Bolt has been 6'5" for something like 7 years already.

There was an interview on the IAAF.org site last year about how Bolt was going to get "serious" about track. Now we understand. I don't mean this entirely facetiously, because I can respect that he likely has been training harder and more seriously since that time. But to train harder, there must also be recovery. Because of the way the west African body metabolizes, recovery seems to need more assistance, whether that be rest, oxygen, or drugs.

Still, a kind of congratulations is probably in order because his competitors are not exactly on a bread-and-water regimen.

This is all so depressing that I wonder if there really is a God. I can't take anymore of this black guys smashing records left and right--and this guy does it with ease--while white sprinters are locked in a reverse time capsule getting slower rather than faster.
I hate sports as it is today. Truly hate what is going on--it is embarassing and drains all the joy out of sports.
Life sucks and then you die and /or watch blacks run to glory ad infinitum--same thing.

what could roid boy bolt run if he didn't look around in the last 30 meters and slow up at the line, a 9.59? I would say the final only had 2 or 3 clean sprinters in it. this juice head just running hands down unbelievable race, and I mean unbelievable! I don't think there is anyone out there that believes this kid is clean after that performance. absolutely silly! he coach should have told him to make it look realistic. anyone want to take a guess at bolt possible WR in the 200m and when he will be caught on PEDS? I'm thinking a 19.29 in the 200m and some time next year he gets nailed with some new designer steroid in him.

Yes, things have changed, but I think it is understandable, at least judging from the little part of the world with which I am familiar. Driving through North Minneapolis in the summer, there is a flurry of black folks outdoors, walking, playing, fighting, shopping. Driving further, the people get whiter and the homes get larger and more spacious, the lawns more manicured --- and there are almost no white children outside unless it is an organized (usually school-based) activity. I did see school-based soccer practices; but where were the kids outside playing catch in their yards or playing a pick-up game of basketball? I saw only a single example of this (looked like a brother, his sister, and another boy) pick-up activity in the much larger caucasian areas, while there were dozens of examples in the much smaller black neighborhood.
Also, it is not likely to find many sprinter candidates when so many kids these days are simply fat.
Things have changed. I remember when it was different.

Yes Observer the culture of sport and running free for whites has dwindled miserably over the years and your observations only reinforce the idea that things will continue to worsen. My frustration is off the charts over the matter and even though I try my best to be hopeful it feels like as each day passes whites are slowly descending into sports hell. a real Dante's inferno.
It won't stop me from seeking out the best white athletes but it feels like the world of white sports in regards to running fast has been hit by an obliterating bomb with a death toll beyond belief.
Lets pray Wariner salvages something out of this mess. And maybe the women but I doubt it.

A black man - a likely drug cheater at that - wins a 100 m sprint- a race withno real practical application tosurvival, awareness, the advancement of the human civilization - and you question the existence of God? Sports are just games, and although they are man's instincts symboled in competition, they are just that: games.<?:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:eek:ffice:eek:ffice" />

Come on, there are plenty of white athletes to root for in other events. And, if need be, review the results of America's boxing team for a little ego boost.

Here's to Craig Pickering, and all the other sprinters who competed drug free.

P.S. Gay ,with his 10.05, doesnot make final.Edited by: Alpha Male

Should be interesting to see the video. Bolt seems to gallop, while all the other runners are stomping away as fast as they can.

Swimmers continue to get taller and move further on each stroke. Maybe tall runners should not be pushed away from 100 and 200 meters. Stride rate seems to be preferred over stride length, but maybe track has been moving in the wrong direction on that issue.

Some of the Americans at the US trial were downright short.

yeah white4live you are right.China wins most medal as country but total whites win alot more then east asians.its in medals 1 whites 2 east asians 3 blacks.Even in track whites gonna win like half of the medals.especially the strength events/throwing events. But 100 meter sprint is called the king event because blacks win it also basketball will be called that when the black americans win.

Did you even watch the race??..Bolt is by far the greatest man in 100m history, and nothing less than superhuman. The guy did not even sprint the entire race and still ran THAT fast. WOW. How incredible is that? the guy is only 21 with TONS of improvements ,so you guys should prepare to see him run under 9.6 in the near future....

The king of track nad field, nothing less
The last time I saw a guy destroy the field like that he was busted 3 days later in Seoul. The last time I saw a female destroy a field like that she had fangs like a werewolf and was weeping on court steps 8 years later after admitting being on a space age PED program. Go back to your black dolls err action figures and keep the fantasies going....
