Roll on Tide!
There is nothing like the crowds in the SEC. What a joy to go to these games and sit in the stands. I am from Iowa and Iowa Hawkeye games are a good time, but in the south we are talking hand and hand with religion.
I went to LSU-Alabama two years ago and it was magical. If you ever wonder why we want our own to man the field go to one of these games once in your lifetime.
We walked in to a sea of red and white. The cheerleaders directing each side of the stadium with a conductors precision. "Roll"Other side " Tide" , "Roll" "Tide"The recruits where being walked along the sidelines as 90k spectators yelled in unison with a sea of 70k red and white pom-poms. At this point the hair is standing on the back of my neck.
Then the Purple and Gold of LSU come on to the field to a chorus of (but not obnoxious) boos. (Like everyone in the stadium were saying in a low voice "heeeecckk them boys are gonna get a beating today")
Then here comes the tide with the understated red and white. It is senior day and the crowd has a heartfelt love for the players.
Just when I think it is over , a song starts and the crowd erupts in song and this leads into a movie like opening on the big screen with a voice booming out that is hard to place at first for a guy from Iowa. It Bear Bryant talking about what is means to be a winner. The crowd quiets to hear the words of the legend that is Bear Bryant. Holy sh*t I have goosebumps the size of pimples.
This is it , I thought, this is the mecca of college football and I begin to relax, albeit excitedly, that the game will start soon.
Just then,
Well, hear for yourself
