At the halfway point of the NBA season the top two teams are the mavs and suns with Dirk and Nash as the top two mvp candidates.I'd like to see Dirk(of course) to win both especially after last years dissapointing finals.

I'm voting for Nash because I want a white player to win the award three times in a row. It's not like he isn't qualified.

It's now the weekend of the NBA All Star Game and Dirk has retaken the lead in the MVP Race.He is averaging over 25 points a game and the Mavs have the best record in the Nba. They have won nine games in a row and the Mavericks have won 82% of their games this year!Dirk gets better every year.

In fairness to Nash,he has been hurt and the Suns can't win without him.Good luck to both of these guys the rest of the season.

Nash is older than Dirk so he has a shorter window of opportunity to get a ring so that's my reasoning. Although I would love to see Dirk win one.

I'm about to watch Dirk try to defend his 3 point shootout title.Good luck to him.He is one of the best pure shooters in the whole league and probably the only 7 footer ever with that good of a 3 point shot!

Just heard (since I did not care to watch it) that Jason Kapono won the three-point shooting contest. If you think about it, not too surprising. I mean, he only has a 56% field-goal percentage from behind the three point line!!!

The season is back in full force and the Mavs have now won 12 in a row for the third time this season. No NBA Team has ever accomplished this!Dirk had 27 points and they won easily. The Mavericks are flat out incredible and I still say Nowitzki has the MVP almost locked up.

Barring injury and the need(why) from some journalists not to give Nash a third MVP, Dirk will win it. I think you can make a equal case for both guys but I'm rooting for Dirk.

I listened to the Dan Patrick show last week and they were discussing MVP candidates. Someone nominated Dirk and then Dan added his two cents, which made me laugh. "Dirk may not even be thebest player on the Mavericks -- Josh Howard might be." Edited by: Bart

Josh Howard is good, but I still think that comment is quite of the mark. Dirk is shooting 50% this year, scoring near 26 PPG, he's improved his defense to average and has always been around a 10 RBG guy. He draws the double team much more than Howard. Edited by: ToughJ.Riggins

I will just say ditto to what Riggins posted above because I can't improve on it. Dirk is clearly the best player on his team and maybe the NBA....even Josh Howard acknowleges that Dirk is the man on his team. I have heard him say so.Edited by: guest301

Dirk and the Mavs win again.Number 15 in a row. They are only the 2nd team ever to go 50-5 over a 55 game stretch. The Bulls are the other. The Mavericks are on pace to win 69 games!Wow.Can you say MVP?

saying josh howard is better than dirk is like saying Scottie Pippen was better than Jordan...just plain stupid, (and racist if you ask me)

Nice win by Dallas today.Dirk finished with 28 and 12 with Mr.Black Panther Rasheed Wallace guarding Dirk a good part of the game.

Rasheed Wallace said that he wouldn't give Dirk or Nash the mvp because someone who plays defence deserves it. Where was Rasheed's defence yesterday? Most of Dirk's points came with Rasheed "trying" to guard him. Dirk rebounds well, blocks over a shot a game and moves well laterally for a guy his size. He is more than a adequate defender in a league that doesn't really allow you to play defence anyway.

looks like dirk will win the mvp and maybe become the first one in almost 30 years to be knocked off in the first round inwhat can be the biggest upset in nba playoff history.

Dirk and the Mavs aren't dead yet.He led the Mavs with 30 points tonight to force a game six at Golden State.Dirk made several crucial three pointers, hit his free throws, and had a huge block late in the game!He showed why he should be the MVP.Come on Mavs.Let's do it two more times and it can be on to the next round.Good luck to the Dirk led Mavs!

It looked like the Mav's were dead in the water until Dirk took over and brought them back. They were down by 9 with approximately 3 minutes left in the game. Dirk scored12 of his teams last15 ponts to ice the victory.

Thats true but Dirk needs to be a diggler and take it to the hole more. If he is settling for the open shot his teammates need to be on their A games, otherwise Dallas loses to the Warriors. Dallas got lucky late, they won't be able to do that for two games in a row....

You here a lot that Dirk isn't clutch enough by the media. Come on, his 3 point play to beat San Antonio last year and now this. I hope they stop saying that now. Just because Wade is more clutch doesn't mean Dirk is poor in the clutch!

It's too bad Kobe Bryant's poor fourth quarter performances aren't being highlighted during these playoffs. Maybe that would stop the sheeple from regurgitating that "Kobe should be MVP" nonsense.

Well it's over. The Mavs have been eliminated. This is some of the worst news that could have happened.People will say that the MVP is a joke if Dirk wins it.I feel so bad for him.The Warriors played the best defense of any team that he has ever faced. They stayed in their zone defense and had 2 or 3 guys coming at him the whole series. It doesn't mean that he isn't a superstar.Hell even Wade & Shaq got beat in the first round.Somehow though,I know Dirk will be crucified by the fans and the media.Hang in there Dirk. You are still one hell of a player. The Mavs as a team just didn't play like they usually do.
