The NFL is DEI. It is not a meritocracy. Every draft for the past 25 years has hovered right around 20% White athletes drafted with little deviation either way (I believe the two outliers were around 15% and 26%). The glass ceiling White athletes face is a very real thing...
Jaguars official UDFA Signings 8/20
DT James Carpenter Indiana
LB Branson Combs Wake Forest
TE John Copenhaver N. Carolina
DE Ethan Downs Oklahoma
QB Seth Henigan Memphis
TE Patrick Herbert Oregon
DL Eli Mostaert NDSU
DE Danny Striggow Minnesota
Saints Official UDFA signings 1/10 (2/11 if you count the punter signed)
Kansas St OL Easton Kilty (second team all Big 12 LT) - will he get the White OT treatment?
QB Brady Cook to the Jets
Good decision by him. He was an afterthought in the draft but goes to a team with mediocrity at the position currently so he has a chance to stick.
OL Steven Losoya to the Panthers
OT Marshall Foerner to the Colts
WR JP Richardson to the Bears
WR Stephen Gosnell to the Bills
LB Matt Jones to the Raiders
Another coal draft in the books. Went pretty much as expected besides pushing many of the White QBs 2-3 rounds down further than they should have been drafted.
Should we just track UDFAs here or make a separate thread?
Seattle drafts OT Mason Richman. This has been their Whitest draft I can ever recall. Outside of their dumb QB selection this is a good draft for Seattle.
Yea glad they all at least got drafted and will be in the league. The QB ranks have not only gotten darker in terms of starters but also with the 2nd/3rd string guys so the silver lining here is that more White QBs will be on rosters and hopefully push off black QBs.
McCord to the Eagles isn't...
