As I said, I certainly don't have any surety about this. But I think Don's message has the most likely explanation for teams ruining the white players they draft/sign. Even though in many cases their jobs depend on who they hire, it's no different than those in almost every other business...

That second-to-last paragraph was awesome until the last three sentences. If it's true about whites being intentionally misdirected by these teams, we need to have some understanding of why they'd be drafted/signed. I've been thinking about it all the time and I don't have a clue.
