    2022 World Outdoor Season

I wonder how much effort the European nations will make for these Championships, since they are in South America.

I think the Euro U20 Championships are next year, not this year....?

    2022 World Outdoor Season

Well, what do you know . . . at a minor meet today in Sweden, Charles Dobson ran a 45.11 400m. That makes him the 4th fastest European this season, and he basically hasn't even run this season. Hoping to see more from him....but he has to stay healthy!!!

Trevor Bassitt- Division II to American Champ

Let's not forget that he also medalled internationally earlier this year. First he won the US National Indoor 400m title, and then competed at the World Indoor Championships and came in 2nd for the silver medal. So basically he's exploded onto the national and international stage this year. Well...

    2022 World Outdoor Season

Britain has some great, young talents including Keely Hodgkinson who took silver in the women's 800m at the WC. But 3 of their brightest young talents have been injury prone, and missed out on the WC. *Charles Dobson who ran a 20.19 early this outdoor season. He seems to be the British...

Trevor Bassitt- Division II to American Champ

Trevor took 3rd in the 400m Hurdles at the World Championships, and also shared in the gold medal in the 4x400m relay, as he ran the anchor in the heats. Great job from this youngster from a DII school, who has been training himself since his coach passed away. That's hard work, dedication, and...

    2022 World Outdoor Season

I am a long time follower of track and field, and I can't think of any white US female short sprinters going back to the 1960s. There was Kathy Hammond who won the bronze medal in the 400m ay the 1972 Olympics, and also Sandra Myers who switched nationality and represented Spain in the sprints...

    2022 World Outdoor Season

More than half (5) of the 8 finalists in the men's 110m hurdles are white. That's a first for any type of sprint/hurdles race at a WC. The contestants include Trey Cunningham -USA, Devon Allen - USA, Damian Czykier - Poland, Asier Martinez - Spain, Joshua Zeller - Great Britain. Final is tonight.

    2022 World Outdoor Season

Yes, her final leg, in fact her final 200 meters, were just incredible!! A few more meters and she would have gotten gold. It seemed that she was 20 meters back with just 200m to go, and she managed to catch the American. who was leading. Watch for yourself starting at the 5 minute mark:

Richmond Flowers was also converted to a defensive back as a pro.

Steve Owens, running back for Oklahoma, would win the Heisman Trophy the next year, 1969.

1968 Orange Bowl - Oklahoma vs. Tennessee

Richmond Flowers Jr. ". . . the younger Flowers exploded onto the track and field scene. In the Spring of 1963, he set state high school records in the 120-yard high hurdles, the 180-yard high hurdles, and the long jump.[1] In 1964, he broke five state records at the state high school...

1968 Orange Bowl - Oklahoma vs. Tennessee

Richmond Flowers of Tennessee was a tremendous high hurdler and athlete. He was looking like a gold medal contender in the hurdles for the 1968 Olympics, but tore his hamstring before the Trails. You can read more about him here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Richmond_Flowers_Jr.

1968 Orange Bowl - Oklahoma vs. Tennessee

I love the introductions! Did you notice that almost all the players on both teams are local, or very nearby, to their state. I like that.

    Filippo Tortu 9.99 & 20.11

Tortu will be running the 200m and the 4x100m at the World Championships. Tortu had been the premiere white sprinter of the past few years, but has slowly regressed. (Boling has taken the title from him). But hopefully he can turn around this slow slide and become a sub-10 (again), sub-20 sprinter.

    2022 World Outdoor Season

I hope you're right about Browning, but frankly I don't share your opinion. He hasn't been running well (unfortunately) since arriving in Europe. As WL mentioned, we don't have much to look forward to in the men's sprints at the upcoming World Championships. I am very curious about how Warholm...

    2022 World Outdoor Season

Karsten Warholm wears some new kind of Puma shoe, but as mentioned, the Nike shoes are a huge advantage. They need to level the playing field with respective to shoes. And btw, if you hadn't noticed, there have been all kinds of stellar performances this year, and those shoes are a big part of...

    High Schoolers

Roko Farkas of Croatia, who was one of the favorites in the 100m (got 5th place), also competed in the decathlon. He was the leader after the 1st day, but fell back on the 2nd day and finished 11th. Still, very impressive to be a contender in two, non-related events. He obviously has a lot of...

    High Schoolers

I watched this race 'live' online, and Henrich came storming through from way back to win the race in the last 100m. But what's even more impressive is this 15 yr old had never even run an official 400m until 1 month ago! So in one month's time she went from having never raced at 400m, to being...

I'm just glad the Swede didn't win. He was cocky and full of himself in the heats. Today he was served some humble pie!
