Yesterday Henrik Larsson ran a new seasons best of 6.60! He reminds me of Boling in the 100 meters as he has amazing closing speed but isn't
as good of a starter. Lemaitre was the same way. Christophe never ran faster than 6.55 in the 60 yet ran a wind legal 9.92! That is what I call closing
speed!

So Henrik Larsson is on the right track. Get that start and drive phase down and he will have the base needed to get closer to 10 seconds flat.

Adam Thomas now has the All Time Scottish Record in the 60 Meters. He broke Nick Smiths long standing record. This time of 6.56 is a huge step forward for Thomas.

finally got a chance to watch sants race: my take away? If she had leaned at the tape she wins....Oh and she is freaking fast and gorgeous...

I thought the same thing.
Then I found this photo.
Mary Beth is erect at the finish line, while the other girl is leaning.
That's the difference right there.

About to leave for the day but I haven't seen the race yet. Can someone please post it here? Thanks in advance. No doubt she would have either tied of won with a good lean!

If you go to 1hr 12 minutes of this video (towards the end), you can see the race.
You can also see that she comes up too soon out of the blocks.

She was well out of the race at the halfway point and was clawing to get back the runners until she ran out meters to run so she never fully executed the race properly. Watch the start she was among the last out of the blocks and in the drive phase was close to last, the race was lost there more than at the line.

Usually she comes out of the blocks like a bullet!
This time she stood up too soon. But she was still in the race and may have been able to win with a perfect lean.

On the other hand, it's a great lesson for her going into the World Championships.
She will know not to make those mistakes again.
She will be a serious contender for a medal at the WC along with Ewa Swoboda of Poland.

I just got home right now. Thanks for posting this video. I'm looking forward to it. Suprised noone including me could find an individual video of the race. Either
way I'm excited to watch it despite knowing how it ended up. I love watching Mary Beth Sant. One of the finest female athletes on earth and as strong as they come
despite her size. :)

Yes indeed ...interesting weekend .....re worlds ...both bassitt and Thomas should make finals ...and boling has changed his starting blocks set up ...if he leaves the LJ alone at the nationals he should run low 6.5s ....swoboda should be untouchable at the worlds ...

surprisingly getting out of the blocks is much harder than it seems. In my last race in 2020 before Covid ruined everything I did the exact same thing despite telling myself whilst in the blocks to keep my head down out of the blocks and into my drive phase..lol what did I do?..stood straight up out of the blocks and ran like an idiot lol still somehow managed to place 2nd. It is difficult for an amatuer like myself I cannot imagine what is like for her at the highest level...

Bruno Hortelano, the former European 200m champion, won the 400m at Spanish Indoor Championships in a good time of 46.02.
Glad to see that he is still running!

I wonder if Bruno Hortelano may have kept some sprint longevity by his forced stoppage after his severe hand injury. I assume he kept doing gym work on at least part of his body and didn't have chance to injure his legs on the track. Let's hope he's has a decent shelf life to come. I still regret them leaving Australia (born here) for his dad to take up a position overseas.
He is a great all round sprinter with bests of 10.06/100, 20.04/200, 44.69/400

Totally agree with comments about MaryBeth Sant - stood up too soon, didn't think to dip etc. What a pocket rocket she is though. I guess she'll go to world indoors

That Madrid 60m will be interesting. I wonder if Van Gool can beat Vicaut. With him losing a little pace the French may soon lose him as well as Lemaitre. But they've had some good results, glory days and a decent relay team with those 2 running for them.

I've doubts about Volko ever returning to top form - I hope he shows something here.

And I must take my hat off to Mike Rodgers. Never at the very top end, he works so hard for his results. Every season he takes his losses and always gets to low 6.50s eventually. No, he's not a white sprinter but he has the racing commitment I wish more white sprinters had. He's also respectful with his congratulations in races I've seen of him.

I agree about all 3 comments. We may never know just how good Hortelano could have been. He is such a special athlete & sprinter to be that faster over 3 distances and those
personal bests of his are all world class times.

Volko and his female coach have been going backwards for several years now. I was hoping he would swich coach's but like Lemaitre he seems happy where he is. Maybe he is
in love with her? You never know as so many trainers and coach's fall in love with their sprinters or other track athletes.

Mike Rodgers is a class act on and off the track from what I've seen. He has had a fantastic career that has lasted longer than most. He is still in the mix year after year. I
respect that as well as his sportsmanship and his performances.

22 Year Old Henrik Larsson is in shape! He looks shredded and his 6.60 equaled his indoor p.b. from 2019. I expect a few new personal bests outdoors over 1oo meters. Glad
he won the national championship! :)

Mary Beth Saint is so talented and yet so beautiful at the same time. She also seems like a All American Sweetheart. Where can I find another one to marry? :)

Devin Quinn and Jan Volko did not show up for the race. Not sure as to what the reason was.

Joris Van Gool ran a 6.62 for fourth place. In my honest opinion Van Gool runs way too much. He burns himself out. Yet even tired he is always consistantly
between 6.60 to 6.64 which is really good. I just think if he rested more he might get into the mid to high 6.50's range. My guess is he needs the money that
you get from entering this number of indoor track meets.

Here is the actual full race of Ewa Swobodas incredible winning time of 6.99! I want to give props to the silver medal winner Pia Skrzyszowska who again
broke her p.b. running a time of 7.12! What a season she is having and she is at the world class level now too. Today though is all about Swoboda! :)

In the mens 60 meters finals at the 2022 Polish National Indoor Championships we have alot of young sprinters to watch out for in the future.

Dominic Kopec won the gold with a 6.66 and Przemyslaw Slowikowski took the silver medal with the same time so it was a photo finish.

Winning the bronze was Jakub Lempach just .001 behind in a time of 6.67!

So 3 of the top 6 finishers in this race where polish sprinters either aged 20 or 21 years of age! This bodes well for the future for Mens Polish Sprinting.

Jakub Lempach 2001
Patruk Kupra 2002
Adam Lukomski 2001

Even 4th place finisher Adrian Brzezinski who had a horrible start is only 23 years of age and he has already ran 6.57 this year!

I really like what Poland is doing in the sprints in both the mens and womens divisions!
