I figured I'd go ahead and start the stats thread for white RBs, even though the first full slate of FBS and FCS games isn't until next week. Here are some good performances from week one of Division 2 play.

Chadron State-John Ritzen-12 runs for 31 yards plus a 24 yard catch

Nebraska Kearney-Rustin Dring-game high 27 runs for 149 yards and a TD plus 3 catches for 7 yards

Nebraska Kearney-QB Jake Spitzlberger-18 runs for 134 yards
Grand Valley State-James Berezik-game high 19 runs for 105 yards plus 1 catch for 9 yards

Minnesota Duluth-Brian Hanson-13 runs for 144 yards and 2 TDs

Did Shakerin quit the Utah football team?
It was a blowout and five players tallied rushing yardage for the Utes. But Sausan wasn't one of them. I couldn't watch the game, so I don't know if he got on the field at all. He redshirted last year, so his clock is ticking now. He was one of their top recruits. You don't just leave highly touted runningbacks on the bench while the scrubs get mop-up duty. Anybody know what happened?

He is on the team. He probably sprained his ankle or something minor. I'm sure you will see him play next week.

Riddlewire, Sausan is listed as the 3rd RB right now. I can find no reports of him being injured, although I did find a couple of people who were surprised they didn't see him on the field last night. My guess is like white lightning's. They will probably use him some in the next few weeks.

Kevin Harris is still barely touching the ball for Wake Forest. I think the last time I checked he had 3 touches late in the 4th quarter. He looks so good when he runs. Stud running back getting screwed over because of the color of his skin.

Toby Gehart looking good with about 50 yards on 9 carries in the first half. Hope they keep using him a good bit and he gets at least 100.

The Harris situation sucks, he was supposed to be a starter coming into this season.Edited by: dwid

Luke Lippincott is no longer a running back. Stupid Nevada changed his position to wide receiver. How dumb is that? Then they don't even throw a pass his way. They just ruined this kids career. What a joke. He was quite a talent.

Toby Gerhart and Jake Sharp will be the two most important guys to follow this year. I like rooting for all of our guys but these 2 rb's are by far my favorite!

Sharp has 8 rushes for 62 yards in the 1st quarter! The 2nd half has just begun and Gerhart had 13 rushes for 62 yards at half time.

It is ridiculous.

On another note, Weber State RB Trevyn Smith had 14 carries for a team high 97 yards plus 8 catches for 69 yards in a close loss to Wyoming.

Here's Toby giving a stiff arm earlier.

Seven players got carries for North Carolina.
Hunter Furr wasn't one of them.
He has ruined his football career by choosing the Tar Heels.

To all of you high school running backs out there, listen up. There are certain schools that just don't want to play white running backs period. Some of the schools that will play you at your position are Stanford, Colorado State,BYU and Kanssas to name a few. There are others but if you go to the wrong school, no matter what they promise you, your career as a running back will be over. Ask Kevin Harris what has happened at Wake Forest for an example. There are too many schools that discriminate against white running backs. Pick your school wisely!

Congrats on a great day by both Gerhart and Sharp. My two favorite players.

Miracle of miracles.
Billy Bair led Duquesne in rushing in their victory over Bucknell today, 24-19. Billy had 9 carries for 55 yards and a touchdown.
It might have just been a fluke (another player had 14 carries, and one of Billy's runs was for 32 yards), but I consider it a victory for Billy. Especially on a day like this, when so many white RBs have gotten screwed over.

Burkhead got to play some tonight, but it was mostly Helu. 9 carries for 47 yards and a TD is still pretty good.

He should get to play more as the season goes on, hopefully. He got to play some early in the game too. The Nebraska announcers called him explosive on one of his early runs. I don't know what else they said about him, I stopped listening when we got up 35-3. Also, I know it's not about RBs, but Matt O'Hanlon got an INT tonight as well.

Congrats to Toby and Jake and to Billy Bair as well!! I remember our heated discussion a while back on whether he would get a D 1 scholarship. Obviously not.. But at least he is making the most of his situation. 9 carries for 47 yards is great for Burkhead who can only become involved in the offense as the year progresses!

Jordan Roberts got no carries for West Virginia in their pitiful performance against Liberty. Six other runningbacks saw action.
I only mention this because Jordan is one of those players that had all the cred (elite measurables, elite performance numbers) to be a top recruit, but he had to walk-on at West Virginia. His is another sad story on the long list compiled by this site.

Willie Rose (Florida Atlantic) had 5 carries for 14 yards and 4 catches for 58 yards in FAU's loss to Nebraska.
He's the Peyton Hillis of the Sun Belt.

Some Vandy news, Ryan Van Rensberg had a 2 yard TD carry. 2 black backs ran for over 100, including a freshman.

Jared Hawkins will hopefully be back soon, and I hope he will be given some carries. Doesn't look too great right now.

The Kevin Harris situation is absolutely bonkers. Even Wake's fans know he is getting screwed. The coach force fed the ball to the two scrubs from last year (Pendergrass and Adams) again for 2 carries for 8 yards and 5 carries for 8 irrespectively. Last year they ran for 3.5 and 3.3 YPC while Harris ran for 5.3 YPC and had a dominant bowl game, but he had 117 and 89 carries less than the aforementioned irrespectively.

Even two WRs had more carries than Harris today. Harris made the most of his carries having 3 of them for 22 yards. He's by far their best back, but this ass clown coach has no spine to put the lesser talents on the bench.

The other bad news to report on is Ralph Bolden and Jacyean Taylor going buck wild for Purdue. I thought Dierking had a chance to be the 2nd back.

But more disappointing was no action for Alex Daniel and Mike Trumpy for NW. Freshman Arby Fields was immediately given PT and produced well behind Simmons.

Jared Hawkins, almost recovered from ankle surgery, might lose his starting job to freshman Zac Stacey (a big time whiterivals recruit) who performed brilliantly and so did freshman Warren Norman. Coach Johnson refused to give Hawkins enough carries last year to get in a rhythm, but gave these two freshman 38 combined carries. Hawkins also got screwed on penalties nullifying a couple long runs last year and the DWFs will be calling for his replacement.

Micah Mosely seems out of the mix at North Texas this year.

Considering all the bad news- I'll have to report some good stuff as well. I think Brandon Wegher will play next game for the Hawkeyes. Sophomore Robinson did o.k, but Paki O'Meara (who I do like) played awful. Before long Wegher, the most talented back on the team, will get touches. Iowa almost lost today to a lousy Northern Iowa team. I think the coach will be forced to put Wegher in the mix before long.

Rex Burkhead played solid in his debut- and Sharp and Gerhart ran buckwild. I sense Martinek will have a huge game on Monday, I can feel it.

Derek Lawson of Arkansas State had 12 carries for 76 yards and a touchdown. Unfortunately, he finished third on the team and he's going to be splitting his backup carries from now on with "rookie sensation" freshman Don Jones. I guess paying your dues for two years and having a great freshman season don't really mean anything if there's a highly touted black RB behind you.
