i thought i'd get us started off with a couple of talented defensive backs from the Boise State Broncos.

Marty Tadman heads into his senior season as the active national leader in career interceptions with 12 and interception returns for touchdowns with three, while ranking second in career interception return yards with 269. Tadman was a second-team All-WAC pick as a junior and earned defensive MVP honors at the Tostitos Fiesta Bowl after intercepting two passes, one of which he returned for a touchdown.

also, the Broncos have an un-heralded sophomore cornerback who i've mentioned on here before, who is poised to make an impact. his name is Cade Hulbert. Cade was the State Champion in Idaho in the 400 meters 3 times, and the 200 meters twice. here's a blurb i found on him from a Boise State preview article with emphasis added:

Cade Hurlbert: So., CB, 5-10, 165

Hurlbert is straight up the fastest guy on the team.

He sat out last season after transferring from Brigham Young University. He will not start by any means, but look for this young speedster to show up all over the special teams. He is small, but man, can he run. Hulbert was a tailback and track star at Capital High three years ago.

Look for Hurlbert to get into the mix on some offensive plays as well. BSU is one of those teams that will use its players to their greatest potential and Hurlbert's speed will always give him chances to play.

aside from mis-spelling his name, it's pretty impressive. he has his work cut out to break into the starting line-up, however with his phenomenal speed he might just do it. also, he hasthe#1 uniform, which very few white cats nationwide get to wear.

wow, and i thought i like tattoos... but maybe it is his tactics, once he's all covered in ink media and NFL coaches won't be able to tell what color his skin is and he will get a shot...

Hey now that's not a bad idea or you could just wear black under armour all the time and hope no one sees you outside the field.

this is Jordan Peterson.

if he avoids injuries, which can de-rail any career,Jordan is a future All-American i believe. this kid is phenomenal.

look at the closing speed to save a touchdown: http://youtube.com/watch?v=Fd9C6W1laqs

in order to score on him, you have to have the perfect pass... and get a little bit lucky:

A&M cornerback Jordan Peterson was covering Johnson on the play, and was stride for stride with him into the endzone, but the ball seemed to go through Peterson's outstretched arms into the hands of Johnson. Johnson could not recall seeing the ball on the play.

"Honestly, I can't remember," Johnson said. "I scored a touchdown. That's all I can remember."

even Jordan's coach said, that if he had the option to choose who to put in that situation that he'd pick Peterson because he was their best cover man.

Jordan led the Aggies in pass break-ups and tied for the team lead in interceptions in '06. just in case you didn't know, last year he was a freshman.

Good stuff JC! I really like seeing the white DBs prove their speed. If only more of them had the chance.

Jordan Peterson will be the one player I want to see develop the next few years, he has all the talent and is playing for a rising Aggies team led by the Stephen Mcgee who in my opinion is one of the top 5 QBs in the NCAA.

Jordan Peterson and Stephen Mcgee make every Texas A&M game this year worth watching.

in yet another example of the Caste System at work, California's leader in interceptions was forced to move to wide receiver when he moved to Division I. but why didsuch a phenomenal athletehave to sign with the New Mexico Lobos anyway?

but now Mike Vandenberg is moving again. this time, he's transferring away from New Mexico and heading up to Montana where his smooth hips and playmaking ability as a natural corner will be allowed to have an opportunity.

as DraftDaddy has mentioned, the guy has tremendous wheels, but i haven't seen an official 40 time. he does have nice size for a corner at 6-1, 6-2.

My son is at a junior college. Because he posted the fastest time on defense they ask him to move to corner. He felt he could never be picked up at a Div 1 in that postion because he is white and said he would rather not. The coach dropped him to 5th string and now won't talk to him. What are your feelings, moving postitions will certainly be career suicide?

Moving to CB at the Juco level wouldn't automatically disqualify him from being recruited to D1, I believe that's the route that Jason Sehorn took. Also, they may recruit him as a Safety, even though he played CB. My advice would be to do whatever it takes to be on the field, because without that you have no shot anyway.

I second what reclaimsocal said, whynotwhite. Welcome to Caste Football. You should check out the Whitest College Teams-2007 thread under the college football forum to see what schools recruit and play a lot of white skill position players, such as your son. If he can make the move to corner and star, I highly suggest making a highlight film of him and then send it to those 1A schools that are listed in that thread.

welcome to the board, whynotwhite.

as my esteemed colleagues have pointed out, giving up only insures that you will never succeed. their suggestions are valid. he needs to be on the field before he can showcase his talent.

then if he has the talent to play at the Divion I level, he just needs to be smart about where he wants to go play. some schools will still give a white kid a chance.

best of luck to him this fall.

Thanks to all for your comments and words of wisdom. He is going to talk to the coach, he just wants to play. Thanks again.

I think he made the right decision, and hopefully it isn't too late to get his CB spot back. Let us know what happens.

Dustin Gabriel would be BYU's other starting safety, but he is out for the year after foot surgery.Edited by: Jimmy Chitwood
