Here are some videos from the weekend.

1) Someone asked about Jordan Boase. Here's his 400, an easy victory.

3) Solinksy's mile (also not a bad performance by the BYU runner in second place--he recently came back fat and out of shape from a two-year Mormon mission):

Hey Guys,

The talent is out there,we know it is,it just has to be tapped into and brought to the attention of the ignorant andDWF's. Most of the athletes I will post will be young, but thats where it starts and I will elaborate more later on the youth and(baseball and track)struggle.

Another possible young talent and I believe he is with The Seattle Speed Track and Field Team, the same team Hannah Cunliffe is with.

Matt Moran, 13 yrs. old placed 5th in the 2010boys sub-youth AAU Junior Olympics 100 meters, had a pb. 11.71 in the pre-lims and finished 5th in the finals!

Can't find as muchabout him on google as others, Cunliffe, Pollard, etc., but found out about this young man on aaujrogames.comboys sub-youth 2010 100 meter pre-lims,finals.

thanks for posting all these young talents, gentlemen. it puts a BIG smile on my face watching young White athletes chasing their dreams in athletics. the pressure they're overcoming to participate in "black" activities is tremendous, so we must never give up in our support of them.
in the posted link to Marybeth Sant's sprint victory, it appeared that a tall, White girl took second place. does anyone know who she is?

</div><div>That was Christine Scott, a junior from Mullen High in Denver. Her PB's are 7.69 in the 60m, and 12.26 in the 100m. In the 60m, she's ranked 15th in the country, and 3rd in Colorado.</div><div>

Here is another high schooler to keep an eye on. He finished 2nd in the 200 meters at the 2011 Simplot Games which is the best of the best in high school track stars. His name is Jake Arslanian. He is only a junior so he still should get faster with another year of high school. Way to go Jake!

Jake had the 2nd fastest time of anyone in the nation at the 2011 Simplot Games and he had to do it out of lane 6 running blind on the outside. Pretty good if you ask me.

you guys inspired me to take a look at this year's Simplot Games results, and it turns out that i spotteda couple ofathletes (and one other performance by a once-mentioned athlete) that havegone unmentionedthus far ...

Niwot High School (Colorado) senior Dan Pullman ran the third-fastest time in the qualifying rounds of the 60-meters, and then took third place overall in the 60-meter final, with a 6.92.

you can see the video by clicking the link below.
http://www.flotrack.org/coverage/238138-2011-adidas-Simplot-Games/video/464568-M-60-F03

Jake Arslanian (who white lightning mentioned above in the 200-meters)placed 6th in this heat of the final (of which there were three) andtook ninth overall in the 60,running a time of 7.02.

there were several other White athletesamong the 20 finalists in the three final heats. the most notablewere junior Blake Selig(7.02) who finished tied for 11th overall and Canadian junior Alex Bymoen (7.07) in 13th. also of note, the 5th-through-13th places were separated by a mere .10 seconds.

also, Arapahoe High School (CO) senior Nowlan Savage took 5th in the men's 200-meters, posting a time of 22.63.

i will only briefly mention the outstanding performances of Marybeth Sant and Hannah Cunliffe, as white lightning posted a link to the 60-meter final in the Cunliffe thread. but i do want to mention two other young female talents ...

we've mentioned her once before, and she shouldn't be forgotten. Mullen High School (Colorado) junior Christine Scott took home the title in the women's 200-meters with a time of 24.75, and another White junior took second-place.Sarah Cline from San Jose, CA (Heritage Track Club) ran a 25.05 to take the silver
smiley32.gif
... buti couldn't find the video of their final heat. of the 20 competitors in the three final heats, White girls finished 1st, 2nd, and 10th overall ... with perhaps some others in the top 10 that i missed.

Whoa--guys, we may have missed a big one. Perhaps this should be filed in the Aussie thread, but Nicholas Hough has officially got wheels. He's a hurdler (correction: the best youth hurdler in the world) who can beat the best Aussie senior sprinters (not that they're that good) on the flat. This weekend, he kicked ass in the 200 in terrible conditions. He's only 17, but, barring injuries he could become the LeMaitre of the 110 hurdles. From the article:

Facing the worst of the conditions â€" a 2.7 metres per second headwind in
the main straight â€" Davies was outrun 21.68 to 21.73 by 17-year-old
Nicholas Hough.

Sprinter/hurdler Hough did not go to last year's
IAAF World Junior Championships but he won the 110m Hurdles at the
inaugural Youth Olympic Games in Singapore, running 13.37 over the
91.4cm barriers.

"That was quite amazing,"Â￾ Hough said. "I was up against some really good senior sprinters. I didn't think I stood a chance.

"This is probably my biggest event aside from the Youth Olympics. I'm real excited."Â￾

Christophe LeMaitre wasn't the only runner worth watching this weekend. Most colleges took it easy, but Penn State decided to stay sharp with some relays--and, man, did two of our guys show up. First off, in the 4 by 400, true freshman Brady Gehret ran a SIZZLING 45.8 anchor leg. It doesn't get much better than that indoors. Heck, that would have been good for a silver at the Euro champs.

But this time Gehret got showed up by his own teammate and watch list star extraordinaire, Cas Loxsom. Loxsom took the baton for the third leg, by which time PSU was down considerably. Now, remember, Loxsom isn't a 400 runner. He's an 800 specialist. Somehow, he didn't get the memo that he wasn't fast enough to be a sprinter. He quickly made up the ground on the leaders and, just before going around them, kind of bumped into them and totally broke stride, then kicked right back into gear, swung around the leaders and produced a, get this, 45.9 leg. That's beyond phenomenal. That would be one of the best times in the world this year, but he did it despite coming to a near stop mid-race and having to run wide around two other runners. And he's an 800 guy!!!!! Here's the video:
http://www.flotrack.org/coverage/238224-2011-Alex-Wilson-Invitational/video/473280-M-4x400-F01

Oh, and if I haven't convinced you on Loxsom, check out the 1:45 800 leg he ran (indoor time again) the day before. He is the REAL DEAL. Maybe he could threaten Rudisha some day. I predict he makes the Olympic team for 2012, even though he's only a sophomore:

I just watched the race. It was a great run by both guys but Loxsom was unbelievable. He has a ton of upside. I wonder what he would have ran if he had ran the final leg and they had the lead. he wouldn't have had anyone in his way. Incredible performance!

Hey guys. I have another young sprinter to keep an eye on. His name is Zach Pollard. In this video he wins the AAU Title at only 14 years of age. He is a 3 sport athlete with baseball, football and track being his chosen sports. He has some serious wheels and we have Carolina Speed to thank for tipping me off about this great athlete. I hope he sticks with track as he has some good potential as shown here. He is had a good indoor season this year to as he is 15 years of age now. Just another of many young, talented sprinters for us to keep a close eye on.

just a couple of days ago (March 20, 2011) Latvia's Zigismunds Sirmais set the world junior record in the javelin with a throw of 84.47 meters, breaking the world junior record set 10 years ago by world and Olympic champion Andreas Thorkildsen. Sirmais is only 18 years old.

Sirmais, 18, had a previous best of 82.27m set at a low-key competition late last summer. He smashed that PB in the first round of today's competition in Sofia, Bulgaria, adding 60cm to Thorkildsen's previous world junior record. Sirmais followed it with two more throws in excess of 81 metres.

It was easily enough to defeat European Championships fourth-placer Oleksandr Pyatnytsya of Ukraine, who threw 81.96m. Britain's James Campbell finished ninth with 71.54m.

"Last year I came close to the world junior record, so I knew it was coming,"Â￾ said Sirmais, who finished seventh at last year's World Juniors after throwing a 77.97m PB in qualifying. "It was still quite a surprise for me.

"The conditions were awful, but I seem to throw all my best results in bad weather,"Â￾ added Sirmais, who trains alongside 2004 Olympic silver medallist Vadims Vasilevskis. "After this kind of result, I think it's possible for me to make it to London 2012."Â￾

Outside Connaughton's brilliant run, this wasn't a huge weekend. However, some of the high school kids put on some great performances. In particular, Sarah Baxter is starting to looking like another Zola Budd. At 14, she slaughtered national competition and set a new national best in the 3200. Let's just call her the Hannah Cunliffe of distance. Then, too, Jonathan Cabral stamped his name on the weekend, setting national best times in both h.s. hurdle events (110 and 300). To read about these two and a few other promising athletes:

Thanks for posting this. Very exciting young kids in the high school scene indeed. I hope both Sarah and Jonathan continue to dominate over the last couple of months of track.

Yes I have talked about him quite a bit. Hopefully he can continue to progress. I like the fact that he is tall like Christophe. He needs to increase his strength and stride turnover ratio which should come as he matures into his body. A good prospect to keep an eye on.

Arkansas Razorback freshman decathlete Kevin Lazas made quite a splash in incredibly wet conditions at the John McDonnell Invitational, winning the decathlon with a SCHOOL RECORD in his first-ever collegiate decathlon.

FAYETTEVILLE - Kevin Lazas' school-record in the decathlon highlighted Saturday's action at the John McDonnell Invitational for the No. 12 University of Arkansas men's track and field team. The Razorback freshman entered as the leader and finished the day with an Arkansas school record 7,542 points ...

Competing in his first collegiate decathlon, Lazas placed his name atop the program's performance list with 7,542 points and surpassed the previous mark of 7,266 points set by David Wehmeyer back in 1983. The decathlon mark had been the oldest remaining record in the Razorbacks' storied records book. Based on results posted through Saturday evening, Lazas has the third-best decathlon in the SEC and is ranked No. 14 in the country. He is also the Razorback school-record holder in the indoor heptathlon.
