I just saw the ad for it while watching the Alabama-FSU game. It will air tomorrow night. Young is quoted as saying "can't nobody tell me nothing." The show seems as though it is taking the slant that he is over confident. You think? Anyway, I'm sure it will provide some discussion.Edited by: Colonel_Reb

I think it ought to be interesting, though I believe an investigation as to why a person with that kind of grammar should have been accepted into the University of Texas might be even more informative.

Vince Young is actually playing pretty good this year IMO. He isn't throwing for a lot of yards, but posted a 97 QB rating against the Saints and has a 87 QB rating for the season. He is managing games and is doing a lot of damage with his legs and with clutch play at the end of games.

Secondly, I haven't heard Vince Young speak in a media interview, but I'm sure you guys are right that he isn't a brilliant guy. He certainly doesn't sound it from his quote above, although it could be cultural gap and his upbringing. However, basing his IQ solely on a Wonderlic score, like many have done on this site, is ridiculous. Most players study for the Wonderlic, Vince Young I heard did not. This was b/c of how busy he was working on passing mechanics and other drills and he also had lots of media events and the like from him winning the National championship where he played brilliantly. He has stated that it was foolish that he didn't prepare for the test. Also the Wonderlic is basically a speed test, where you have to make connections quickly. Maybe Vince Young is simply a slow reader.

Lastly, you don't have to be super bright to be a good QB. If you have some good skills with practice your decision making becomes almost instinctive. Vince needs to improve his accuracy I agree, but he is already making a steady improvement in that department. Vince Young might not be the brightest fish in the sea, but he has enough intelligence IMO to memorize a standard play book. However, a Mike Martz offensive play book might make his brain hurt some.

Riggins, you are fickle.I am pasting a direct quote you made in another thread.I think you are a huge fan of Young, and in reality have been toasting him.

Since we're picking on TJR's 'Vince Young love' I think it interesting to test the theory of Young not having "studied" for his Wonderlic test. Since it's a general intelligence test what's to study? Young is supposed to be a college graduate. Shouldn't he be able to answer the questions below?

See how you score on some examples from a Wonderlic IQ test.

You'd have to be mentally retarded to score a six on that test.

Wow, I knew the test wasn't for a rocket scientist, but that is ridiculously easy. Even if he has reading difficulty (or is dyslexic which I am sure we would have heard about if he was) those questions are so easy he should at least be able to make the double digits unless he was illiterate. A six out of 50 means he answered less than an eight of the questions right. I guess the guy is pretty stupid.
