The real story of the NFL season, ESPN and the NFL Draft

The NFL for the first time in memory was suffering through a steep ratings decline that carried through most of the season. It rebounded a bit in December but the damage was already done. The media scrambling pointed to two main reasons, the election which was a huge stretch if you ask me and the National Anthem stuff. Yes the Anthem debate factors in because it was a racially charged thing. But remember going into the season Denver and that "athletic" mainly black pass rush defeated not only the Pats but the Carolina Panthers who featured several prominent white players. Yes a lot of the old guard wanted Denver because of Manning but he was a shell of himself and the whiteness factor of Denver was limited.
And as we know the first two months of the season was slow going for white WR's like Jordy who was still finding his legs. But around December some white WR's were emerging and Jordy was slowly getting back to form. Then came the magnificent Pats playoff run. The media gave pretty much all the credit to Tom Brady who was terrific. But they never stopped to ponder a few things. Number one that Julian Edelman was the best player on the field two years ago against Seattle. That Julian Edelman was nowhere near 100% healthy against Denver last season. And the Pats passing offense in all the years Brady has been there had never been so dynamic as it was this past season with Chris Hogan and Julian Edelman leading the way along with support from Amendola and others. That passing attack was as brilliant as we have ever seen as they toppled two top end defenses in the AFL and a fast young defense in the Falcons.
All of a sudden the NFL has bounced back. The recent NFL Draft which was outdoors in Philadelphia was a gigantic success and everyone was royally charged up. And taken near the top was Christian the trailblazing white RB that everyone can't stop talking about. So what has changed since the lows of last season. WHITE SKILL POSITION PLAYERS!!!!! I am getting interrupted so I will break this into two or three parts so to be continued sorry.

Meanwhile the decline of ESPN has been a big media topic culminating in massive layoffs last week. Conservative outlets blamed the cord cutting and a liberal slant citing various things like the Jenner ESPY award for Courage (which was a spectacularly stupid move but I doubt that was any sort of deal breaker since it was isolated) to the ongoing racially biased slant which has played a HUGE role in their decline. In fact when the layoffs came down most everyone in the media was shocked that their more race baiting personalities remained in place. Talk about a Doctor misdiagnosing the patient. There are two main reasons why ESPN is in decline beyond the cord cutting and behavior of young people. And I don't entirely buy the liberal slant for example if ESPN took up the case for a stronger EPA while it would annoy many it wouldn't be a deal breaker. The real deal breaker has been their approach to race and I think we know the two main categories. The first is what this site is all about, the caste haze that hangs over nearly everything ESPN does and says. And secondly giving voice to black racists and white anti white personalities and giving them all the prime slots.
There are two underlying realities in life the media has yet to catch up to. One is the amount of white guilt that has been heaped on the white public regarding blacks and racism and most all of it UNJUSTIFIED. This guilt which ventures into Scarlett Letter type stuff ( meaning serious stuff here) was accelerated by the Obama administration and has had a crippling effect, especially among young whites. This has stunted the lives of young white people and has stopped many from reaching their full potential. And the other subject unexplored by the media is white anxiety over being athletically inferior to blacks. This has the trickle down affect of whites thinking less of themselves and questioning their place in the "new society" where black athletes shine and white athletes have disappeared from view. ESPN has been one of the main instigators in both the white guilt and being inferior categories. These twin categories are a major reason why white viewers are turning off ESPN. In part three I will finish off my little discussion. Sorry again for multiple postings.

So ESPN's version of sports is a key reason they are struggling. If they did not have the live coverage of sports they would be pretty much useless because their personalities with their shows are steeped in the caste haze which mainly focuses on the heroics of black athletes. White athletes are sidelined and rarely discussed especially skilled white players like WR's. And even if they do get around to white athletes it is often with a negative slant. And like this past week if whites are discussed in detail it often focuses on their "falsely accused" shortcomings and faults like blowing up this Adam Jones ordeal into some sort of national racial debate. So ESPN dutifully fulfills the twin killing of first making whites get drenched in guilt regarding what is essentially trumped up racial charges. Which means listening to Michael Smith scold and lecture white folks about their hate filled racist souls and how and why they are the cause of black misery. And second the everyday pervasive drone that funnels all athletic talk onto a black board blacks are SUPERIOR to white athletes. This latter feature is done in a myriad of ways. It could be excessive discussion of an athletic player like Russell Westbrook or the degrading of white skill players by Golic and Greenberg to name just a couple of ways they make it damn sure the listener understands that blacks are the "real athletes."
What the NFL was missing early on last season and ESPN continues to miss is the alienation of the white fans which is pushing them away from sports. Being a white fan today is a masochistic exercise as most here can attest to. A couple of off handed posts help illustrate the alienation and despair. Matra 2 in a soccer post mentioned that his pals are losing interest in soccer because of the heavy influx of black players. The crazy zeal of yesteryear has faded. And Extra Point didn't have enough incentive to buy his annual NFL Draft magazine this time around because he felt the QB position was slowly being taken over by blacks. Indeed if we see an NFL with Black QB's throwing to black WR's with no whites to speak of in the mix then the NFL would once again see their ratings decline.
What the majority of white fans want more of is what we witnessed at the Super Bowl where whites get to be the skilled heroes or the College Championship where a white WR gets to make the hero play. It all comes down to better representation of white players at certain positions and if the leagues becomes more and more black then the white anxiety will shoot through the roof and feelings of inferiority will only deepen. And the ratings will continue to fall. But as we have seen with the Patriots victory and the influx of exciting young players like Christian into the league the anticipation for next season is extremely high.
So the lesson is simple. Start getting more white WR's and RB's especially( but one can't ignore the other positions on Defense or the QB for that matter) and other skill type guys in baseball then Major League sports will survive and thrive. If they continue this trend towards basically all black sports Leagues then the alienated and downtrodden white fans will eventually fade away in significant numbers.
This to me is more real than the analysis we got from the media on why the NFL and ESPN is slipping.
