This is one of those arguments where everyone has valid points. Riddlewire has done fantastic research work for this site, as has Col. Reb. I know I'm not thrilled when I put some time into a post and the first response to it is someone nitpicking a relatively minor point.

I've also looked at Mike's posts and don't think he's a troll and I agree with the point that we should be welcoming as much as possible. As I've mentioned periodically, the best way to handle concerns about someone being a troll is through pms to me or one of the two moderators here. But anyone who likes this site should understand and appreciate that it is under constant attack from overt and covert opponents, and there is always a gray area between someone who is merely disagreeingand someone who is a deceiver and that is always going to cause some problems and arguments. What's important is to handle those disagreements in a civil manner.

As for the posters who have left, I have posted my own concerns about that, but as for Riggins' list, there is no connection between the names listed as they covered a large spectrum of opinion here. All boards have a lot of turnover over time. Also, some regular posters return after being away for a while; that happens here frequently. If there is a pattern of people leaving for the same reason, I'd wish they'd post or pm what their complaint(s) are because I hate to lose any regular poster, especially one of long-standing.

As jaxvid wrote, this is a tough area we're taking on. It can take a lot out of people. I think we have to be tenacious and stay with it through thick and thin, but this is a free, volunteer site and no one can compel anyone else when it comes to commitment.

As far as being a "senior poster" goes, the only way to become one is to become one.

Riddlewire, again an abundance of thanks is due your way for compiling this information.

I'd like to get this thread back on track and open up some more discussion. I was hoping to garner some viewpoints on which of the top rated teams will field the best teams in 2008. As an east coast resident, I'm not as familiar as I'd like to be in regards to teams like Iowa, Washington State, Colorado State, and other teams in various regions.

I will say that Boston College epitomizes the type of white team that embodies what we here at Caste Football support. Always led by a field general (i.e. Matt Ryan) with a strong offensive line, the Eagles also always possess a defense that is fundamentally sound but also capable of making game changing plays. They feature strong, tough white linemen (Chris Hovan), quick linebackers (Frank Chamberlin) who not only stuff the run but are very good in coverage, and defensive backs who are all over the field (Jamie Silva).

Boston College is an extremely fun team to watch since they play so many majority black teams, and beat them. The success of BC should serve as a wakeup call to other ACC coaches that continually and ridiculously cater to black recruits. I mean, even Duke has turned into a black dominated team. And, they get crushed.

I'd be interested to hear from other posters regarding how the teams Riddlewire cited will perform in 2008.

I think Iowa will have a slightly better year, 7-8 wins.
They had some tough injuries and losses and were playing with a very young offense. They will get WR Andy Brodell back and the QB and OL will have had more time to mature and improve. Defensively they lose a lot of impact players like Godfrey and Shada in the secondary, Humpal and Klinkenborg in LB corps, and Iwebema and Mattison on the DL. I see them making more noise 2 years from now.

Nebraska has the ability to surprise I think, depends on how much impact Pelini can have on motivating their defense. As of right now, their two starting WR spots figure to be white guys (Nate Swift and Todd Peterson).

The unfortunate thing for me is that I live in SEC Country. I've only seen one Washington State game my entire life ('98 Rose Bowl), two Colorado State games, and a handful of Iowa, Nebraska, and Wisconsin games. With the Big Ten Network taking away some of those games now, I will mostly be limited to watching a couple of Nebraska games each season if I want to see any of the teams in my Elite Eight. Who can say about them, though. They are most definitely a team in transistion. Pelini is a complete unknown. Nebraska had a good class (as usual with them), but that has to be credited to Callahan. They sure did stink on defense last year, though (again, credited to Callahan). The Big 12 will be up slightly next year, with overall recruiting improving for the conference over the last couple of years. I suspect Nebraska is in for at least one more bad season.

I think it will be interesting to see what David Cutcliffe does at Duke, both in coaching and recruiting. He was a traditional Caste recruiter and an often criticized coach at Ole Miss when I went there. I'm curious as to whether he will recruit as many 95% black classes as he did in Oxford. Fortunately for him, he's not in a high pressure job, so even if his head coaching skills are lacking, just pulling a 4 or 5 win season will be acceptable.

I'm also intrigued by the coaching change at Colorado State. Will Kyle Bell get another opportunity? Will John Mosure be worked into the offense more this year, and will CSU continue to recruit white RBs, receivers, and defensive players under Steve Fairchild? CSU can be a better team, but they need a better offensive line. I believe they signed 5 OL in this class, so we'll see what happens there.

It always perplexes me why teams that have struggling programs like the new coach inherited at Duke for instance wouldn't start recruiting more white RBs, WRs and CBs. After all, I think Don got a PM from a parent of a white RB who was told by a Division 2 coach that the only reason Division 2 was able to get someone as talented as their son is because Div 1A doesn't want white RBs.

I would hope that the new coach at Colorado State would realize there is a world of "top talent" in whites kids at RB and WR and even some at CB that goes unrecruited by Division 1A. Those kids would jump at an opportunity for a Division 1A scholarship.

This is the philosophy struggling programs should have to rebuild their programs. After all what have they got to lose, they are already being criticized and their coach could already be on the hot seat. So having a white friendly recruiting class isn't going to be bad PR the way it might be at Michigan or Florida State where it would shock their drunken white fans who aren't used to that.Edited by: ToughJ.Riggins

It's interesting how 2 of the most heralded white tailbacks in recent years, Kevin Harris and Tre Smith were not recruited more strongly by mediocre Division I schools who needed explosive tailbacks. Both graduated high school from Florida schools, and thus college scouts had no excuse to ignore them or say they played at locations "off the beaten path".

We know that Kevin Harris was told that he'd be a tailback at Wake Forest, but in his time there has gained weight and is being used as a short yard runner (i.e fullback). As for Tre Smith, he really would have excelled at a program where he was given a guarantee that he would be the featured back. A mid-level SEC or ACC team would have been a great fit for Tre.

The media and scouts complain that white backs come from small, rural high schools. Yet, Kevin Harris, Tre Smith and Sam McGuffie all came out of regions where football is king. The caste scouts and media can't continue to have it both ways, it's the height of hypocracy.

Very good point Stonewall it makes no sense. You can also see this in how Terrell Pryor is made a God and he is from "the supposedly weak WPIAL" in rural Western Pennsylvania. This is the same league where great white RBs who dominate the league like Billy Bair and Brad Mueller are cast aside.

And the ridiculousness of it is that Rivals has found yet another God in pint sized 5'7 165lb. runner Cameron Saddler from the WPIAL who is ahead of McGuffie in the rankings.

Saddler has a paltry 28 inch vertical compared to McGuffie's 41-43 inch vert and has a 4.44 40 time compared to Sam's 4.32 40 time. Saddler ran for a measly 5.3 YPC and about 1000 yards against the "weak" competition in the WPIAL JR year and only 7.2 YPC and about 2000 yards this year. Compare this to Sam's 8.7 YPC and 3200 yards last year and 8.3 YPC and 2000 yards this year against the top competition in the country when hurt (and I'm not even bringing up Touchdowns which McGuffie dominates Saddler at) Rivals obviously isn't blind to what they are doing they are simply a bunch of white loathing serpents at that organization. How can you deny McGuffie's talent after seeing his mix tape! I always knew the Devil ran Rivals!

Intersting point seems like a good idea to me. In response to Duke football, i think their football program should take some hints form coach K. Duke Basketball is always fielding white teams and recruiting white guys. Even though in the last couple of years they have underachieved. Duke has nothing to lose in recruiting whites in football, neither does any other low d-1 school like Tough J mentioned.
