Link.
1. Brock Lesnar (4-1)
2. Fabricio Werdum (14-4-1)
3. Fedor Emelianenko (31-2, 1 NC)
4. Cain Velasquez (8-0)
5. Shane Carwin (12-0)
6. Frank Mir (13-5)
7. Junior dos Santos (11-1)
8. Alistair Overeem (33-11, 1 NC)
9. Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira (32-6-1, 1 NC)
10. Antonio Silva (14-2)
Other contenders: Andrei Arlovski, Josh Barnett, Roy Nelson, Brett Rogers, Ben Rothwell.

Cain being #4 proves that they are politically motivated. Cain Velasquez enjoys that ranking simply for being a Mexican mestizo. It is also the biggest reason he receives so much hype by media outlets.

There is no way this ranking makes sense considering that the reason he is #4 is because he is 8-0 and chiefly because of his KO win over Big Nog(ranked #9 and in the twilight of his career). Yet 12-0 Shane Carwin who is the interim UFC champ and fighting for the undisputed title and absolutely destroyed the #6 fighter who happened to KO Big Nog well before Cain, and brutalized Kongo the only other top win for Cain in far more impressive fashion(it went to decision for Cain), only nets Shane the #5 spot.

It also makes no sense for Junior dos Santos to be ranked #7 when he is 11-1, his one loss being almost 3 years ago and he lost to a submission. He should be ranked higher than Brock Lesnar, because he holds more impressive wins if they want to rank Werdum #2 and has a more impressive record to Brock's 4-1. Considering Brock's relatively easy path to the UFC title it really shouldn't be a factor at all.

It's impossible to take Sherdog's rankings serious. Not that I ever did.

Werdum looked dreadful in his fight before Fedor. He won a razor-thin decision over Antonio "Bigfoot" Silva the same night that Fedor brutally KO'ed Brett Rodgers.

He caught Fedor in a routine submission in the opening seconds (after nearly getting KO'ed himself after 1-2 strikes)....no highlight-reel KO"¦no 5-round brawl to determine the "alpha male."Â￾ How on earth does a fluke submission victory suddenly constitute Werdum being ranked #2? Not even the buffoonish DWFs have such flawed logic.

Fedor vs. Werdum was a boring fight. It would have been equally lackluster had Fedor submitted Werdum in the opening seconds. That said"¦I hope Werdum sub's Overeem.

I see it like this:
1) Fedor
2) Winner of Carwin/Lesnar
3) JDS
4) Loser of Carwin/Lesnar
5) Werdum
6) Mir
7) Overeem
8) Velasquez
9) Bigfoot Silva
10) Big Nog

Roy Nelson is on the cusp of cracking the top 10, and with a win over JDS could quickly rise up the ranks. Barnett has the talent and experience to be top 3, but he'll have to prove himself again after testing positive for banned substances, although I don't think he knowingly took steroids, CSAC is a joke.

Moving Werdum to #2 just for defeating Fedor without looking at the circumstances is ridiculous. His stand up is not good enough to be there, and he doesn't have the ability to take most of these fighters to the ground if they do not want to go there. I think that he would defeat wrestlers like Cain though, taking Werdum down would be a big mistake. Lesnar probably could still manhandle Werdum and power through his submission attempts to GnP him.
