Last year, as a junior, he lead his team to the NY AA Large School State Championship as the team's premiere tailback. So he's a state champion tail back.

He won the Western New York HS Football Player of the Year Award as a tailback.

First Team All State as a tail back.

So for his senior year, guess where he'll be playing?

Quarterback.

As the story goes, the coach feels he needs someone who knows the offense well at QB, so to get the best players on the field, he got switched.

I'm very close with his uncle and i'm going to watch him play several times this season.

Army is heavily recruiting him, but i'm not sure at what position.

I know i'll be sitting right next to his father during several games this year. any suggestions on how to bring up the caste system in this situation?

I'd say to tell him that certain schools simply won't give a white tailback a chance- as they haven't had a white starting tailback in 25+ years. You could tell the father to research schools that play white RBs and WRs and to advertise his son with a highlight vid on Youtube b/c exposure usually helps a little although it often isn't enough.
