Ask just about any former quarterback if BYU junior quarterback Taysom Hill reminded them of themselves and it wouldn't be surprising to hear them laugh and say, "I see a better me."
But would you expect it from Cougar and NFL Hall-of-Famer Steve Young?
Those were exactly the words Young used when talking about Hill on Monday before his charity golf tournament in ****r.
"He can really go," Young said. "I think that more than anything, he needs to get that discipline around delivering the ball. They have a great system and so he needs to orchestrate."
Young, who was known throughout his career for his sterling combination of passing and running abilities, said he sees Hill developing both facets of his game.
"He's got the timing now," Young said. "He understands how to get that ball out and that he can use his feet as weapons and yet still play the offense out of the huddle. Those are the things that he's developed through experience. If you have a college quarterback with that proficiency, he's going to be way ahead in the game."
The Hall-of-Famer said he thinks Hill could open a lot of eyes with his performance in 2014.
"I believe that the incremental gain for Taysom year over year is going to be really big," Young said. "He has the ability to deliver the ball, orchestrate and then still run around. That's how I did it and it's a lot of fun to play that way. I think he's ready to do it."
