The announcers on this Sunday's Lion's game were really trying to destroy Josh McCown and end his career. They were clearly trying to attack McCown for trying to be athletic and were insulting Martz for playing him. All he did wrong was get called for offensive interference once.

yeah, it was pretty pathetic effort. he actually had a good game, and showed some good speed and poise on this long catch that got called back. shows you what they know, huh

If he was Michael Irvan or
Terrell Owens he would have probably
gotten away with it . Irvan
especially, pushed off all the time.
The black stars always seem to get
the calls.

well, the offensive interference penalty is often called the "michael irvin penalty" for a reason.

You'd think they would get on the bandwagon of McCown, a good guy, a good athlete, trying to help his team win but they just can't oppose the caste, not for one single minute. It's frustrating but good in a way because anything that is that dogmatic can be more easily broken up.

I wish I could hear or see the clip.I give Martz alot of credit. He really needs to be a head coach again at some point.Maybe next season.I only wish there were more coaches that were not afraid to play white guys as easily as him. There is so much talent that never gets a fair chance.

You guys are gonna love this. Martz and Marinelli are sticking their fingers right in the eye of the caste system. As you know Martz has taken some heat for playing McCown at receiver in place of MAJOR bust Mike Williams. It's a major black vs. white thing. The media and fans are all over them because HORRORS! a white man is playing instead of a black man!!!!!!

So in the press today I read the following from Martz.

"(McCown) has really good speed, he's a good athlete, he's got height and he's got range," Marinelli said. "That's what I really like about him. Mike right now is more of an inside guy. He needs to get faster to get down the field for us. He's in most of our packages as an inside guy. Josh gives you some really good speed."

Last Sunday against New England, McCown caught two passes for 15 yards and had another long pass wiped out by a questionable offensive pass interference penalty. Williams had only one uncatchable ball thrown in his direction. If Williams is active for this Sunday's game, he'll likely only play in the slot and not on the outside.

"Right now, it would probably be just some lack of speed (the reason Williams is not playing) -- he's got to get faster out there," Marinelli said.

Isn't that great stuff? The white QB is so much of a better athlete then the black guy because he's a lot faster. The black guy is too slow and has to play the slot because he can't get open deep. I love it! You should see how the media is taking it. They can't believe it.

Unfortunately it is going to cost Martz and Marinelli big time. The blacks on the team are already starting to warm up for a riot, and the local black sports writers are having conniptions. All of a sudden Mike Williams, the guy they have hated for two years is now their boy when it becomes a black/white thing.

Wow, is that ever great to hear

Now, if only the Lions were a better team... they are a lot better than their record indicates. They have been in a nearly every game, for example the Pats game, only to lose in the end. I think that Quinn to the Lions would be a great fit.

This story about Mike Furrey is also very good. Mike Martz deserves our support for what he has been doing. Mike was a walk on in college and undrafted in the pro's. Snips from the article:

http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/news;_ylt=AmdrRRI.C94fPUTdDyC2xk 2F2bYF?slug=ap-lions-furrey&prov=ap&type=lgns

Furrey has 65 receptions for 773 yards, ranking among NFC leaders in both categories, and four touchdowns.

"I can't wait for them to quit saying `safety,"' he said Wednesday. "I'm a receiver. Full-time."

Last season, Furrey wasn't.

He started 11 games at safety for the St. Louis Rams, led the team with four interceptions, defended eight passes and made 55 tackles. St. Louis released him after the season and he wondered if his career would resume as a safety or receiver.

Former Rams coach Mike Martz gave him a call last spring shortly after joining the Lions as offensive coordinator because he envisioned the 6-foot, 190-pound Furrey as the slot receiver the team needed. On the same day Furrey accepted Detroit's offer, the Buffalo Bills called wanting to sign him as a safety.

It wasn't a tough decision to follow Martz to Detroit.

"He gave me an opportunity out of Arena (football), believed in me for the first couple of years of my career, then gave me an opportunity to start at safety," said Furrey, who played in the Arena Football League before his shot in the NFL. "When I was out on the streets, hanging out in Columbus, Ohio, he's the one that called me wanting to bring me up here."

Martz said Furrey has a lot of talent, like a lot of receivers, but his intelligence on the field sets him apart.

"He understands this position extremely well, probably as well as anybody has played this position in the league," Martz said.

Both Furrey and Martz are convinced the experience at safety helped him learn to read defenses better.

"He has a different perspective having been on the other side of the ball," Martz saidEdited by: Bart

Just found this onaprominent fantasy football site's predictions about Sunday's games:

WRs Roy Williams (85 yards) and Mike Furrey (60 yards) will catch the TD passes. They must address this position after the season is over. Furrey should be handling their #3 role.

Yep, that's the Lions' biggest problem right now, their weakness at the number two receiver position.

Ridiculous.
It's obvious that their weakness is Kitna's
career long chronic interception problem and
also thier defense...It almost seems to
me that announcers/anaylists will automatically
blame "whitey " because it takes less thinking
and will automatically be found acceptable by
the media and general public.... Wow, it's impossible
for a white guy to possibley have enough talent to be a starting
WR...That's only because they are stigmatized to the point where
they're never given a chance!

Another note is that I'd say those
are phenomenol stats for a #2 receiver. Hopefully,
Furrey has made good friends with Roy Williams
or he might start blaming whitey saying "give
me the damn ball b/c my teammates a
flashlight!" Such selfish arrogance on
the part of a significant number of
black players...

Another Lion Loser: Drew Sharp column in Free Press today said Shaun Rogers can't come back, because of his suspension/weight gain/lack of leadership. And he was their "star" defender!

So first the Lion's problem was Joey Harrington and now it`s Jon Kitna? Joey seems to be doing fine in Miami.

Funny how when it's a black QB playing like sh*t, it's the receiver's fault (cf. Mike Vick), but when it's a white QB playing like sh*t, it's his fault. Edited by: White Shogun

Kitna is nothing more than a serviceable starter who's done pretty well in the Lions system with some shaky talent around him. At this stage of his career he is probably more suited to be a backup. The Lions big mistake was not going with McCown as the starter from the beginning of training camp. He's younger, faster, more mobile and has a big arm. He has all the ingredients to be an excellent quarterback.

ButMcCown was given the same treatment in Arizona. My theory, half-serious half-jest, is that McCown is just too damn Aryan looking for the NFL. It's okay when it's a coach like Jon Gruden with his cartoonish facial expressions, but the league likes its white players to not stand out too much.

I personally saw McCown play in the preseason and I cannot figure out why he is not playing in place of Kitna. McCown has an outstanding arm and there can be no arguement about his athleticism. With the Lions mired in a horrible season the rationale to play the younger guy is even stronger. The whole thing baffles me. Unfortunately with the Lions sure to get a high draft pick it looks like Troy Smith will be the QB before McCown.

I notice a resemblance between McCown and Drago. Somehow, I get the impression the NFL would rather have Vick or Young as poster boys for athletic quarterbacks.

I've never noticed this before, but McCown looks just like this kid I knew from Belarus!
I think he is definitely part Russian/Slav. He doesn't look Irish.

Dolph Lundgren(the guy that played Drago) is German, but maybe of Russian descent.

Actually Lundgren is a Swede, but they are Germanic.

There was an article in the Detroit Free Press a couple weeks ago about how McCown was the Lions' best basketball player during the teams' off-day hoops games.
