UFC president Dana White has downplayed the strength of Fedor
Emelianenko, the fighter regarded as one of the world's top
pound-for-pound fighters who lost to Fabricio Werdum at Strikeforce:
Fedor vs Werdum. In interviews, White has slammed Fedor's management for not signing with the
UFC and questioned his abilities. Well, White got a good
laugh at the fact that Fedor was beat by a fighter that was cut from the
UFC. Not long after the bout ended, White sent out this tweet:

Anyone have a link to the fight...sounds like Werdum is not the guy you want to go to the ground with.
Funny to see the hypocrisy from Dana White. His golden goose Lesnar got caught in his 1st or 2nd ever UFC fight as submission specialist Mir got his ankle. Lesnar was sloppy there and got caught, as it appears this is what happened to Fedor.

Notice that White blew the Lesnar tapping to bad luck and stood 100% behind his golden goose Lesnar.
White is a business shyster, plain and simple.
You didn't see that unclassy response from White when Lesnar got caught.

I predict Fedor will not go quietly into the night. I think he will hurt Werdum sometime in the future.

Werdum was not cut from the UFC. They had contract disputes, the UFC wanted him to take a pay cut, he refused. Werdum made $100k in his last fight, compared to Shane Carwin who will make $40,000 for possibly the biggest selling fight in MMA history. IMO the UFC treats their fighters like garbage.

Despite his calmness and peace with his loss on the 26th, I think now that he's had time to dwell on the implications it has had for his team, his sport and his countrymen it has already lit a fire under him as he's calling for an October rematch.

The only worry I have is that he will likely try to take it to Werdum's world again and he may just get caught in another submission.

But if Fedor comes back even more dominant and hungry than ever before then it will be a pleasure to watch him rise again.

True, but he has also had spectacular wins as well as dominant ones.

Sure, like the 35 second defeat of Tim Sylvia. But I think it's his vulnerability that makes him interesting. That makes him different from, say, GSP, Silva, and Lesnar. Dominance is great, but kinda boring. Not that I don't want white fighters to be dominant, of course.

It was his ability to fight an uphill battle that I found compelling.

Fedor WILL TKO or straight KO Werdum in a re-match. Fedor's lack of respect for Werdum's BJJ & overzealous-ness to jump in guard for G&P cost him the fight. IF Fedor avoids take-downs & keeps it standing he's 99.99% guaranteed to defeat Fabricio in a re-match.

That is a concern. Fedor was practically hurling himself into Nogueira's guard when he fought him. That is probably what made him think he could be so careless. On the bright side Werdum might only be able to get the fight to the ground by having Fedor drop him again. I know it was early in the fight, but Werdum didn't show anything standing and got dropped in the first exchange.

The losses are really starting to pile up and it's upsetting.  White MMA fighters haven't been doing so well lately and now Fedor loses.  Duddy last night, Arthur Abraham, Kessler, Pavlik(at least he lost to a white figher), and Diaconu.  I know we can't win them all but I never in a million years expected Abraham or Kessler to lose to these afflete thugs Dirrell and Ward. A white fighter may not even win the Super Six.I'm hoping Pirog and Kotelnik can win their caste matchups with affletes but they are going to have a tough time since both fights are in the US.

If you don't think White MMA fighters have been doing well lately, just take a look at the WEC Varner vs Shalorus thread. Whites won pretty much all fights against non-white opponents. Most of the Whites that are losing to blacks in UFC are either past their primes, or are unknown tomato cans whom the UFC is using to build up black prospects like Jon Jones and Gerald Harris. Other than Mousasi's dissappoiting decision loss to Muhammad Lawal, no White fighter has been upset by a black opponent in 2010. Most of our losses have been ones in which underqualified guys were brought in to lose, to hype up prospects.

I'm not too familiar with MMA but I look at Dixie's results which he posts for every major fight and quite a few whites lose to non-whites. Maybe you are correct and those white fighters that lose are just under qualified guys.

At the WEC event all the Whites went 3-0 against black opponents and 1-0 against Mestizos, most if not all were wins via stoppage. Yes Whites will lose occasionally,under-qualified or not. It unrealistic to win them all, I mean this isn't war it's just a one on one fight with rules.

Also you do have to take some things into account, namely that one reason Whites may not win as often as we feel they should is because relative ease and comfort have made many White kids less instinctive fighters than their non-White counterparts. By the time they reach high school non-Whites usually have more fighting experience than the White kids. So even if the White kids are stronger and more athletic, the fighting instinct is a disadvantage.

I live near Boston; and even the black thugs admit that the poor White kids from South Boston are tough customers. They would be less likely to mess with a White kid from Southie, as opposed to a wealtheir suburbanite. Go back 50-60 years ago White immigrants were the toughest on the streets. But when they got rich and comfortable they lost their edge. Unfortunately that's the price of being successful unless you're able to retain a martial culture like the Asians and Hispanic have.

Majority of boxing fans at my work are actually blacks and Latinos, while the Whites only care about football, baseball, basketball. I actually spend more time talking to the minorities about White boxers. It's kind of sad but I bet more black and Hispanic Americans know who the Klitschko brothers are than Whites

Yea guest i have noticed that blacks seem to follow boxing much more than whites. In fact, a black friend of mine lets me come watch the PPV fights with him. The first one I watched at his house was Hatton - Mayweather and he was going for Hatton, he hated Mayweather because he talked too much lol.

Besides MMA we have had a few letdowns in boxing as well. Mikkel Kessler lost to afflete Andre Ward and Arthur Abraham lost to Andre Dirrell. I'm hoping they can avenge these losses.
