Anyone read this book? I am in the middle of it right now and can't put it down. It is the epitome of the CasteSystem in baseball. And how a bunch of slobs who didn't make the bigs, envision what the "best" players should be, at the expense of everyone else.
It is incredible how this resembles the Caste system in football.
They've got an example of a guy who is crushing the ball in college, but the scouts don't want to draft him because he doesn't fit their mold of what a catcher should be. College stats be damned!
It is literally the most frustrating thing you can imagine. Because what else can you do other than put up stats to prove yourself. And if they don't give a crap about stats then you are going to be overlooked for whatever the current definition of the athlete is supposed to be.
It's freakin' crazy. This one guy sets all these records in baseball and yet, NOONE wants to draft him because he doesn't fit their mold. Most frustrating thing in the world.
