Matt’s 8.25m Long Jump qualifies him for the 2022 World Indoor Championship March 18-20 in Belgrade, Serbia. The automatic qualification is 8.22m.

It's a blessing and a curse. The same with running the 400 and all of the endless relays. If he is ever going to be a superstar in the sprints, Boling needs to stick to
the 100 & 200 meters. I was hoping he and the coach had learned from last year. The kid had nothing left the last month of the season. This will happen again with
him being a multitasker tracker. You can only be the best if you focus on 1 or 2 events period! I know he could potentially medal in the long jump but why? No one
is going to remember that unless he will to go break the world long jump record and he is years away from that if ever.

The money and fame is in the 100 meters first and foremost. Then the 200 meters and every other event will not get him known in my honest opinion. I wish I could
coach the kid! At least they only had him jump once! The one thing they did right but not having him take all the jumps.

WL you forget that he has said in interviews that the LJ is his favourite event, I doubt it is the coach making him do it for the points. In order to jump that distance he is practising daily. Now having said that I too agree he should focus on the 100/200 double...period. In my humble opinion if you cant jump 8.30m+ consistantly then there is no use in jumping if you are already world class sprinter...

It is crazy that Boling's 8.25 meter jump would have won him a Bronze in last Olympics! Obviously I'm biased though and want him running sprints.

Yes he likes the event alot but he also said he loves the 100 and 200 meters. His ultimate goal is to be like the modern day Jesse Owens. Well that's very unlikely. There
is so much of a higher level of competition than back in the pre world war II track days. He is not only gonna get burned out every year earlier on but he will also have a
very high chance of serious injuries. Especially in the long jump. It puts so much physical stress on your body and joints. It's crazy even though he has the talent to medal
in the long jump.

He needs to prove he can go sub 10 and sub 20 on a semi consistant basis. Then he will be truely world class in the sprints. After that he can do a few long jumps on
occasion. That's what I would do. Even Usain Bolt wanted to do the long jump but was wisely talked out of it by coach's, family and friends. I'm not a Bolt fan but
he made the right choice. It's too hard physically and his career would have ended far sooner if he had attempted it. Who knows, maybe he wouldn't have the
world records to this day if he did the long jump although those magical yams sure do help. Lol.

In my honest opinion, Boling needs to run the 60 and 100 meter races more than anything else. It's his biggest weakness of anything at this point. The other thing
he needs to do is refine his sprinting form and technique while learning to relax more and breathing better. Just my opinion. Nail that start in the 100 like he did
in the opening 200 meters yesterday. He looked like he was shot out of a cannon. Good to see.

Quite frankly,I do believe it would
better serve Whites' interest if Boling
took up the decathlon.I don't see him
being a factor on the world stage in the
sprints.Too many great Black sprinters
and history loom as insurmountable
barriers.Since 1960 Rome,144 medals
have been awarded in the sprints[100,200,400]
at the Olympics to date and Whites have managed
a paltry 26 total. This suggests to me that Boling has
better prospect in other than the sprints.

Not gonna happen. Boling was the fastest man in the NCAA Indoors last year and he won the National Championship. That time is the 6th fastest indoor
200 meters ever run in the history of the world. Your nuts to think he can't compete. He was the national champion indoors. Fatigue caught up with him
later in the outdoor season as he had around 20 more races than other sprinters. They need to make sure he gets his rest.

Boling will 100% go Sub 10 and Sub 20 this year in 2022. I will take any bets. I'm also talking wind legal barring an injury. The kid is at the top of the bell
curve athetically and he still has crappy form and and a bad start. Just wait and see and remember that I told you so!

CRT wants to write Matt off because Matt is a White Athlete.

In lieu of the last holiday Murcia just had: the ethnicity of 95+% of communist vermin in communist party USA is jewish however imagine if they denied MLK the chance to join? He became the most famous and has a holiday as well as many awards, monuments, streets named after him etc. If his jewish handlers had given speeches instead of him then their movement would have failed. So none of us should deny someone an opportunity because of race/ ethnicity.
Matt will be the star sprinter even though he is unique, just like MLK was greater than the communist jews.

It's too late for Boling to take up the decathlon.
He would need 3 years or more to become proficient enough in the hurdles, pole vault, throws, and high jump, to become a contender in the decathlon.
Why take 3+ years to get to the same level in the decathlon that he is already at in the sprints?!

FYI . . .Karsten Warholm competed in the decathlon before taking up the 400m hurdles.

To start the Indoor 2022 Season Boling has the longest jump in the world indoors so far. The fastest time in the 200 meters in the world and now the 5th fastest 60 meter
in the NCAA to set a new 60 meters personal best for Boling of 6.60! He is ready to make major strides this year! :)

I'd say he has most potential in:
  1. 200m (28th best U20 time)
  2. 100m (36th best U20 time)
  3. Long Jump (76th best U20 mark)

Last year in 2021 Matthew Boling had the fastest indoor 200 meters time run in the world with a 20.19! Yes he was number one in the world. In 2022 he is still
has the fastest indoor 200 meters time run in the world so far. Boling is almost impossible to beat indoors over 200 meters. I've said it before but his 20.19 from
last year is the tied for the 6th fastest indoor 200 meter ever run in the history of track and field.

So we all know he needs to focus on the 60 meters more as his start leaves alot to be desired. Also his form can be tightened up a bit. Mostly he just needs to learn
to relax more as he is sprinting. Boling is getting there but again I wish he would only concentrate on 2 events in the short sprints. Even with his weakness
in a couple of areas, he is about to break through in a major way this year. The key will be to run as fast outdoors as he runs indoors. Hoping he can break his personal
bests over both 100 and 200 meters this spring and summer. I've said it before. Boling will be a sub 10 and sub 20 sprinter this year!

I saw the start list for the 2022 Razorback Invitational Track Meet this Friday and Saturday. Again Boling is being mishandled. He is a very good long jumper
and a great 200 meters runner. So what is his greatest weakness? The 60 and 100 meters. So what do they do? They put him in the long jump and 200 meters.
Glad he is in the 200 and I'm sure he will win most likely but why skip the 60 meters? How can you improve your overall sprinting if you don't get that start
nailed down and fixed? He can long jump for the next decade but that won't help him in the 60 or 100 meters! This is the sad truth. You can be good at many
events but to be the best and compete at the highest level you cannot keep being a multi eventer with 4 to 6 things he is doing. This is insanity. It causes burnout,
injuries and will never allow him to reach his peak potential in the 100 or 200 meters. Just my thoughts but I'm being honest.

Just like Lemaitre was mishandled and mismanaged, we are now seeing it happening with Boling. It really makes me angry. I don't care if he loves the long jump. He
needs to give up the long jump and the 400 meters and focus on the 100 & 200 meters if he ever wants to be known around the world by even non track fans. The
long jump is not going to get you fame and it's so dangerous and hard on the body. They are trying to have him do everything. It's stupidity! The coaching staff, his
family and agent should all know this. Hope he at least gets a time in the 20.40's over 200 meters on Friday Night.

Okay. I'm going to play devil's advocate on this one, because it will allow me to put forth some recent thoughts I've had about sprinting.

When Matthew Boling burst onto the sprint scene in his senior of high school, he had been training exclusively as a Long Jumper and 400m runner.
He hadn't run a 100m race since 8th grade or before (?). Yet, that year was his best ever year in 100m/200m.
Last year, Fred Kerley, who had run the 400m his entire career, started competing in the 100m at the age of 26, and took silver at the Tokyo Olympics.
Marcell Jacobs who won the gold medal in 100m, had been a long jumper up until 4 years ago.
Allan Wells, the 100m gold medalist from Scotland, had also been a long jumper before converting to the sprints in his mid-20s (26, I think).
Dafne Schippers was a heptathlete, when she burst onto the sprint scene. (When she began to focus only on the short sprints, within a few seasons her times started to decline.)
Karsten Warholm was a decathlete before focusing on the 400m hurdles exclusively a few seasons ago.

My point is, that 'cross-training' seems like it can be quite beneficial to sprinters.
Perhaps the long jump gives them the explosiveness they need for the short sprints.
And perhaps the 400m gives them the strength to pull away from the other sprinters over the last 10 to 20 meters (as Boling did in high school).

So I am not completely convinced that training for the 400m and Long Jump are necessarily bad for his sprinting. They might give him a strength and explosiveness base for later years. However, training for all 4 events - 100m, 200m, 400m, and LJ - is probably too much.

I completely agree Jacknyc.

Matt is still a novice 100m sprinter learning to put all parts of the 100 together in concert. He is doing the same in the 200m.
His Long Jump training will enhance his later sprint stardom.
Carl Lewis was better in the LJ than the 100/200, same as Matt. Lewis was lucky to win 100 gold. Woronin POL ran a 9.992 pre 1984 and missed because of the boycott and Lewis lost the 1988 100m but was given gold after the winner was dq for PED even though Lewis was on PED as well.
Like I said Matt will need luck to win the 100/200/LJ however he may win LJ gold alone the the 100/200 golds next.
