Malignaggi beat N’Dou one handed

I guess if you are white and do not knock your opponent out you are a bum. This was the only write up I could find that had anything positive to say about this guy. I would really rather see them fight Ricardo Torres and Tim Patrick respevtively. Assuming they both win then a match between Malignaggi and Hatton would be a major unification of the title for the winner and make all the belt holder in this division white.

Paulie Malignaggi made the 2nd defense of the IBF Jr. Welterweight championship with a close split decision over the man he won the crown from, Lovemore N'dou

N'dou came out trying the land right hands early. he was helped by Malignaggi as the champion came in wearing long hair extensions that seemed to get in the way of his vision. Malignaggi had his hair taped up in a ponytail after round one. Malignaggi settled into a nice boxing rhythm in rounds three through five. Malignaggi seemed to hurt his hand in round six and did not throw his right hand much for the remainder of the fight.

N'dou seemed dialed in and landed some solid straight right over the second half of the fight. The fight turned into a mauling clinchfest over the last third of the fight and that was symbolic as Malignaggi literally held on his to his title by scores of 116-112, 116-113 with N'dou winning a card at 115-114.

Malignaggi of Brooklyn, New York is now 25-1. N'dou is now 46-10-1

I watched the whole fight on Versus which preceeded the Hatton fight and thought it was boring. The hair problem that Malignaggi had for about 2/3 of the fight before his corner finally cut it off showed a lack of preparation by Malignaggi and the announcers were ragging on him pretty good about that. Now that I know he had a broken hand, I will cut him some slack on the boredom department. Still impressive that he beat a good fighter with one hand.

Tonight Paulie Malignaggi put on one of the best pure boxing exhibitions by beating a still dangerous Zab Judea. Great performance. It sets him for some big matches. Too bad he has no real power. If he did he would be a world beater. Congrats to Walnuts.
