For those of you out there planning on watcing Saturday's East- West Shrine game and you happen to see a shaggy-haired white RB puttering around and you start wondering,"who the heck is that".The guys name is Jesse Lumsden from McMaster University in Hamilton,Ontario,Canada. He is coming off a monster year in 2004 where he won the Hec Crighton award, which is the Canadian equivilancy to the Heisman. He set CIS(Canadian Interuniversity Sport) single season records for rushing,1,816 yards, and TD's with 21 in only 8 games. For his career he rushed for 4,328 and 47 TD's which were OUA records(Ontario University Association),At 6'2 and 226 pounds he's a good blend of size, strength and speed. I don't know what his 40 is,but he can really run.Whether he gets a lot of playing time in the Shrine is Questionable,I thing it as important to do well in the 5 days of practice leading up to the game, what with all the scouts checking out your every move.Should Jesse do well at the Shrine the next step would be an invite to the combine in Indy and with more positve results there he could end being a late round pick or a non-drafted free-agent.A fellow from the K.C.Chiefs scout website is high on Lumsden and thinks he is the best player to come out of the CIS in years and feels he couldgo a lot higher in the draft.I think that's getting too far ahead of the game.If things don't go so well Jesse is still projected as being a first round pick in this years CFL draft, possibly first over-allto Calgary.Good-luck,Jessie.

Jesse Lumsden was happy with his performance on Saturday and so he should be as he was the games leading rusher. Now he has to wait and see if he gets an inviteto the Hula Bowl next week and then the combine next month.Kyle Eckel, who blocked for Jesse on all of his runs, was very impressed with Lumsden's ability.Seems strange to have a white guy being the lead blocker for another white guy, thanks Kyle.Do you think a black dude would do the same thing for Jesse that Kyle did.I don't know. There was some negativity towards Lumsden because he was viewed as an outsider being from Canada and because of that he was looked as not being good enough to participate in this game.I expected that because, let's be honest folks, the talent level in the NCAA division 1-A football as compared to Canadian university football is huge.No surprise there, but I can't help thinking that because Jesse is a white RB also played a factor.I have and idea what " type" of players were most down on Jesse.Nevertheless it was a good start for Lumsden and maybe he can make some more waves in the future.

Good points speedster.I see possible star potential in
this kid.I like the fact that he plays with a attitude!
He is very confident in his abilities and wants to
prove the whole world wrong. He has the perfect height,
weight, strength, and seems to be very fast.If given a
proper chance,I see him making a team. There are so many
teams that need a good running back.Lets hope that he
gets invited to the nfl combine and kicks some butt!

I'm really suprised that you guys here are not talking
about this kid more.He just could be the closest thing
to Luke Staley that we have seen in around 3 years. He
has the perfect body size and strength to play in the
NFL. Eckel will probably be forced to be a fullback.
Chance Kretschmer might not even get picked because they
will bring up the injury thing.Chance deserves a shot
but might not get it.Jesse has everything that they are
looking for and speed to.The only negatives is his
competition in Canada but so what.Give this kid a chance!
I am really excited about Lumsden getting a chance to
blow some coaches & scouts away at the combine!

I missed the East-West Shrine game, and hadn't heard of Jesse before, but I'll definitely be watching for any news about him, and I'm sure the rest of our growing number of "scouts" will too. Even, if as is likely, he never gets a shot at the NFL, a lot more people need to know that there are qualified white running backs out there. One would think that a lot of fans would really want to see a white at the position in the NFL after all these years. . .

If that time is true then he should be selected in the
first few rounds. That kind of size, power, and incredible
speed.Oh but wait,we all know that it doesn't matter if
your that good, just ask Luke Staley.Good luck to Jesse
Lumsden.I would love to see him play on Sundays
especially as a starting running back!

No combine for Jesse.Lumsden didn't get the required vote from the personnel and scouting service directors.Playing in Canada had to have hurt his chances of getting an invite. This doesn't mean he won't get drafted, because Jesse has his game tapes circulating around, but now you would have to figure he will not get drafted until the 6th or 7th round at best if at all,or he get signed as a non-drafted free agent.Worst case scenario would be to play in the CFL for a couple of years then take a stab at the NFL,if there is interest.

I am 29 and starting to wonder if I will ever see a white rb gain 1000 yards in a season, I had been on a personal boycott of the sport the from 2001 up to this year and the only reason I started watching a game or two was because my 9 year old son took a interest in the sport. I have not even watched a superbowl since 1998. But I plan on sitting down with my son this year and watching it.

Again and again I scratch my head with the nfl. This kid
runs a 4.3-4.4 40 consistantly and is 6-2 with muscles.
There are 90 college running backs invited to the nfl
combine but Lumsden isn't good enough.Bull-sh**!I am so
sick of them screwing these kids over. They are afraid to
let him come here and tear up the league. He has all of
the things anyone could ask for.Someone draft this guy
please and play him. Here's another article on him.

cxt7: I wonder if I'll ever see a white RB do it too. I don't remember when John Riggans last did it in 1983, or when Craig James did it in 1985, I was too young. All we can do is try to get the word out about these young guys and hope that one day they will get a fair shot at a starting position. In the meantime, I'm not going to hold my breath. I haven't watched much NFL football either for the last few years, the only ones I even care about are the white-friendly (if you can really call them that) teams.

I'm leaning in the same direction as cxt7 and colonel reb. This was the most un-enjoyable NFL season that I've experienced. The anti-white and black-friendly deal that this league stands for is wearing thin with me.From the time I start watching the pre-game shows Sunday morning until the Monday night game,I'm more and more disgusted by the ridiculous behaviour of these street-thugs.What kind of a stupid league is this when teams get fined for not interviewing at least one black candidate when they're searching for a new head-coach? I really can see myself not watching in the near future if things don't change.

There are so many people who deny the reality of anti-white discrimination by saying that teams (meaning white owners, coaches, fans) would love to see white running backs, cornerbacks, receivers, etc., but there just aren't any out there. If they would take the time to look into the situation, such as reading even a tiny portion of the material on the Caste Football website, they'd find out just how wrong that viewpoint is.

There was a paperback book published in 1990 called, The Pro Football Chronicle. The authors were sportswriters from the Washington Times. It seemed to be a counter to Boswell's baseball books. It had a lot of useful info, including game stats for many famous players.

There was a roundup for each decade, firsts, lasts, etc. For the 80's, the authors had an interesting "last." They said that Craig James was the last white running back ever to gain 1000 yards in a season. Just that. In 1990, they felt that they could state with confidence that there would never again be a white thousand yard rusher.

Nah, they just think he's physically inferior.

I agree JD074. I think the people running these teams believe this sterotype. What I have always been told and I don't know if its true but back in the late 70's and early 80's owners wanted to sign blacks because they would play for less money, and could be easily tricked (face it they are not the sharpest knives in the drawer). I have stopped attending any games, buying merchandise, but the problem is, I am only one person and when I talk to people about this they say I am racist or they love the game to much to let it go. It was easy for me to let it go my favorite team the browns moved out of town.

Even if Lumsden ran a 40 in 4 seconds flat and bench
pressed 500 pounds,do you think they would care. The nfl
clearly has no respect for white running backs. The fact
the Staley never got a legitimate shot is just one of
a thousand circumstances that prove that!Look how Brock
Forsey is treated.Explain why guys with imense talent
like Mike Alstott are forced to put on 20 pounds so they
can be full backs.Alstott was a running back and wanted
to stay at that position. He is the only full back to get
alot of carries in his career. The norm is to just block
for others and never get to touch the ball.I'm telling
you guys that I am sick to my stomach with this b.s.
They take the heart and desire out of these kids. How do
you explain to your son that he's the wrong color and
can't play running back.A kid could rush for 20000 yards
in high school and the scouts wouldn't blink. We have to
stop this.Get the word out guys to everyone you know.
Let's put the pressure on the nfl to get Lumsden a spot
at the combine.Clarett turned down a workout the other
day after he promised he would be there.Put Lumsden in
that spot and watch him turn some heads.Heck, put Stamer
there after track season. He was a running back and I
guarantee no running back in the whold nfl could touch
him in a 40 or a 100 yard dash! I will not be satisfied
until these kids get a honest chance!
