Does this surprise anyone? Coming soon to an NFL team near you.

"WR Jerry Porter, who was declared inactive for Monday's regular-season opener, was seen laughing and pumping his fist near the Raiders bench after Oakland quarterback Aaron Brooks was sacked for the seventh time, the San Francisco Chronicle reported in its game blog Monday night."

Porter should be rewarded soon by being traded to the Patriots or some other team, whereupon he will be treated as an awe-inspiring talent.

Koren Robinson just signed with Green Bay, Charles Rogers is rumored to be signing with Miami, these guys just keep popping up and are welcomed in new cities as long as they're not in prison. Yet dozens and dozens of white receivers with proven production in college and great measureables are banned from the NFL.

Ha, everyone in Michigan had been cynically predicting a Chuck-Joey
reunion!

The media really is intent on giving black malcontents as much publicity and face time as possible. It's become a huge part of the way football is covered. Jerry Porter's a-hole behavior has garnered him more attention and recognition than has his somewhat underachieiving playing career. People who act in a way that shows extreme selfishness at the expense of team goals should be ostracized,by their teammates and alsoby the media. By not doing so the media exacerbates the situation, which gives the soap opera goings on even more of a carnival atmosphere. It's been that way over and over with T.O., with Randy Moss, with Keyshawn Johnson, with Deion Branch, with disgruntled Dante Stallworth, with Corey Dillon when he wanted out of Cincinnati, and with various other holdouts who want to break the binding terms of acontract they freely signed.

The twisting of once bedrock values was shown by the wayESPN's announcers of the Chargers-Raiders game kept giving their "best wishes" for a fast recovery to Steve Foley, who had been shot several times after charging a policeman. Foley's teammates all wore special items to show their solidarity and support of a teammate who has been charged with very serious crimes. How much all-out love are we supposed to have foranvery large manwho was apparently extremely drunk, refused to follow the orders of an off-duty policeman who repeatedly identified himself and then, enraged, charged at the cop, putting himin a possible life threatening situation.

The sympathies of the Chargers organization and ESPN should have been directed toward the policeman and his family, not the perp. The fact that it was all the other way says a lot about black solidarity even in the face of criminality, and the failure of white management to even try to instill a proper value system when it comes to the personal conduct and responsibility of its players.Edited by: Don Wassall

You are right, sir. I didn't see that particular game, but that is disgusting. Sympathy is for the cop, not the perp. Whenever I hear about a perp getting shot, I'm rooting for the cop. And this during a football game, how we have fallen.

there was actually an article blasting Porter on NFL.com earlier today but i can't find the link to it at the moment... basically it said that Raiders want to trade this guy as he is very distracting (he even called NFLPA to ask whether he actually needs to show up at the game) but there is no takers, not even short on receivers Patriots want to look his way...

Joey Porter issued an "apology" today for twice calling Kellen Winslow a "****" [edit: rhymes with "hag"] after the last Steelers-Browns game.

http://www.post-gazette.com/pg/06347/745642-66.stm

Because the remarks were made by a black player, in this case a thuggish, infantile type who has been annointed the "leader" of the Steelers by the media and the "NFL's Toughest Man" by Sports Illustrated, the comments were barely noticed, whereas if they had been made by a white athlete it would have been John Rocker revisited.

I live in Pittsburgh, and it was only yesterday, five days after Porter used the un-PC term, that it received any notice here, and only in the form of a fawning column by Post-Gazette columnist Ron Cook, who is as groveling and anti-white as any writer in the country.

Cook has written dozens of articles denouncing John Rocker, some years after Rocker was set up by SI back in 1999. To Cook, Rocker is subhuman, an easy target to be demonized over and over. But Cook certainly pulled his punches when it comes to Porter, a highly over-ratedidiot who makes stupid comments all the time. Here are some snippets from Cook's article "condemning" Porter:

"[Porter's] representatives have Porter's image to rescue. There are potential marketing opportunities at stake. Even the NFL's most feared man. . . has to be careful about what lines he crosses. . ."

"In a sense, Porter is one of the Steelers' all-time most fascinating characters. There probably isn't a guy with a bigger heart on the team. . . Those were amazing acts of kindness."

Porter is the guy the local media always runs to for quotes, the same Joey Porter who was shot in the ass outside a nightclub, who gets in fights on the field before games, who chased Ray Lewis to the Ravens' team bus after a game wanting to fight him, who whined for months this season about how he was underpaid, who madestupid remarks about the president when the team was going to the White House after winning the Super Bowl, etc., etc. This is the kind of clown the media loves to hold up as a role model to American kids, and whose remarks about Winslow will quickly be forgiven and forgotten. Wait a minute. Is this the same Porter who was shot in the ass outside a Pittsburgh nightclub two years ago, or am I thinking of another player?

There is Jerry Porter, wide receiver in Oakland.

And Joey Porter, linebacker for the Steelers.

Jerry laughed during Oakland's loss.

Joey got shot in the ass.

No relation.

I did a search for "Porter" in the NFL section and posted it here even though I was referencing Joey Porter and not Jerry Porter. Maybe I'm getting dyslexic.

Not that there's muchto distinguishbetween the Porter boys anyway. They're both assclowns, only difference is that Joey is lionized by the media more than Jerry.

Thats right, I am starting to remember now. I'm kind of curious to know what he said, or did, for someone "pop a cap in his ass"...literally.

You must really be a jackass for someone to open fire on you.

The story in the media was that he was among a group of people outside a nightclub somewhere in Colorado after it closed when shots rang out and he got hit. Porter was there with his posse to watch his old school Colorado State play Colorado. In other words he was portrayed as a total innocent with the bullet in the butt being nothing but pure bad luck. Whether that's what really happened who knows.

I highly doubt it. I just got the picture in my mind of when he and Chad Johnson were going back and fourth at one another before the Steelers/Bengals game. He's got a HUGE mouth. Odds are he was talking smack to some thug or he was hitting on his girl. Never-the-less, the standard equation applies...

"blacks + too much Hennessey = somebody getting shot"
