The Star Tribune and NFL network are both reporting that the Chiefs have dealt Jared Allen to the Vikings in exchange for their 1st and both 3rd round selections in this weekends draft.

This gives the Vikings Defense a 3rd White Starter, which isn't saying much, but its better then nothing. Lets hope Brian Robison can win that other End spot to make it 4.

Anyone have insight into why the Chiefs with their lousy defensewere so eager to trade the best defensive end in football? I can't recall a similar situation.

K.C. could have continued to tag Allen as their franchise player, and he wasn't threatening to hold out. Yeah he has a couple of DUIs but that's nothing compared to the kind of crimes black players are routinely arrested for. Hell, I was reading an article just today where 20% of adult Americans admitted to a polling company that they drink and drive; you can bet the actual percentage who do is far higher than that. Allen is the kind of player you build your defense around, not get rid of.

Ray Edwards is the frontrunner to start at left end opposite Allen, but Robison is eager to compete. If the drunk white fans didn't wear such blinders, the ones in Minny would be excited as hell at the thought of an obvious young talent like Robison manning the position. With Allen likely to be double-teamed often, Robison could have a big second season if he is given the opportunity he clearly deserves.

Robison's a freak athlete too if I recall his combine numbers. He also seemed to pick things up fast as a rookie and looked awesome out there, but his playing time didn't increase much at all.

He's just what the caste system usually loves (a freak athlete), at least way more than the mere high motors & heady play that the caste system usually attributes to the only reason for a white's success.

But when you're white you have to do your apprenticeship before being handed the reins almost no matter what. I think Chris Long being the probable number two draft pick is the rare white that will probably become a starter right away.

Black female "sportswriter" (who looks to beall of about21 years old) castigates the Vikings for signing Allen, comparing him to a genuine problem child, Koren Robinson. For some reason she fails to mention that Robinson's second DUI camewhen he failed to pull over and led police on a 10 mile chase while going over 100 mph, for which he was charged with a felony. She also fails to mention that this occurred after he was signed by the Vikings after previous DUIs and a suspension by the NFL for substance abuse. This is the typical "Mark Chmura ploy," trying to give the impression that the rarearrest of white athletes occurs on a scaleequal to that of blacks in frequency and degree.

Vikings should be questioned for Allen trade and signing

I certainly wish ill upon no one, but Robison may get his opportunity soon. DE Kenechi Udeze was diagnosed with leukemia recently. Anyone familiar with the disease knows it's a tough fight, leaving Udeze doubtful for the 2008 season.

Robison is competing with Ray Edwards for the DE starting position opposite Allen as mentioned in my post above.

5 sacks to go... hard, but not an impossible task!

After racking up 3 1/2 sacks against the Lions in Week 14, Jared Allen now has 100 1/2 for his career.

Allen is one of 27 players that now have 100 career sacks. Colts DE Dwight Freeney also eclipsed the milestone on Sunday. Allen, who leads the league with 18 sacks this season, it within striking distance of Michael Strahan's single-season record. Strahan recorded 22 1/2 in 2001.

Suprised this thread is so short. Over 8 seasons Allen has accrued 105 sacks, averaging over 13 per season. At this rate even if he quits football in 4 years he'll be 2.5 sacks away from 3rd on the all-time list. He's a virtual lock to finish in the top 5 all time in sacks, and could very well break the all-time record of 200 (he's only 29!).

What we're looking at is the Bruce Smith and Lawrence Taylor of our time. Pity he is seldom mentioned and does not get enough credit. He's never played for a team with a good defense or offense to make the other team throw more. If Christian Ponder can solve that Allen has many more 15+ sack seasons in him and will vie for the all time record.

He is the youngest player with over 100 sacks. Only 3 other players with over 55 sacks are his age (29). None have as many sacks as he does.

Completely dominant, and the fastest edge rusher in the game.

[h=2]Jared Allen: Sack record should have been mine[/h]

EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. -- Jared Allen was just one sack shy of setting the NFL's single-season record in 2011, and he knows exactly where one quarterback drop came and went.Green Bay, of all places.
The Minnesota Vikings all-pro defensive end -- whose 22 sacks last season were the most in a campaign in the league since Michael Strahan set the record with 22 1/2 in 2001 -- remembers a play against the arch-rival Packers in Week 10 that still leaves him a bit puzzled because of the manner in which it was statistically recorded.
"They actually took one away from me in Green Bay," Allen told USA TODAY Sports. "I pushed my guy into (Aaron) Rodgers, he fumbled, and I touched him down. They gave it as a team sack, versus giving me the sack. That would've been the record right there."
Then again, Allen can think of a few other sacks that got away.
"I missed probably four or five, that were in my hands," he said. "There were opportunities left on the field. My goal each year isn't a set number. I want as many sacks as I can get when the opportunities present themselves. That's my goal. Just to not have missed opportunities. There were some left on the field last year."
When he starts rattling off examples -- including crashing into Drew Brees a split-second after a pass was released -- you realize how the near-sacks stick in his memory.
Allen collected 13 1/2 sacks of his sacks last year against NFC North opponents, including 3 1/2 against Chicago in the season finale. He punished Detroit and left tackle Jeff Backus, collecting three sacks of Matthew Stafford in each of the two divisional matchups.
"A fourth sack would've happened in Detroit," he recalled. "I thought Matt Stafford was going to try to beat me to the sideline. He cut back and ran through an arm tackle."
In most cases, Allen cashed in on his chances with with relentless consistency. He notched sacks in each of the first nine games last season, and had a sack in all but four contests. He fueled Minnesota's league-best 50 sacks, a bright spot in a dismal 3-13 season.
Now the Vikings -- seeking to exceed projections this season and become relevant again while fielding a second-year quarterback in Christian Ponder -- undoubtedly need the ninth-year veteran to continue supplying the heavy rush that is his trademark.
History is surely on his side. Since entering the NFL with the Kansas City Chiefs in 2004 as a fourth-round pick from Idaho State, no player has tallied more sacks than Allen (105). Among active players, only Atlanta's John Abraham has more career sacks (112).
And motivation won't be lacking. He still wants the record that got away.
"Any pass rusher that tells you that's not a goal, he's lying," Allen said. "It's always a goal. It's always in your mind. You just try to do it within the scheme of winning games."

With his 2 sacks on Thanksgiving, Jared Allen passed Lawrence Taylor for 10th all-time in sacks. I didn't hear anything about it, but it seems like a pretty big deal. Anyway, Jared has 133 career sacks, with a chance to make it to the top 5 before he's done.

Here's the top 10:
Bruce Smith 200
Reggie White 198
Kevin Greene 160
Chris Doleman 150.5
Michael Strahan 141.5
Jason Taylor 139.5
John Randle 137.5
Richard Dent 137.5
John Abraham 133.5 (active age 36)
Jared Allen 133 (active age 32)

Congratulations, Jared Allen.
