How about this article on ESPN's site about the legal problems of NHL players --

http://sports.espn.go.com/nhl/columns/story?id=1918831

It lists the legal problems of several players and then says the sport is in danger because of it. Hey, the situations listed are about an average week for the NFL and NBA when it comes to players being charged with serious crimes! The system loves to equate white hockey players as the epitome of violent brutes, yet only about 1 percent of hockey players ever get involved in legal problems, while with black NBA and NFL players the percentage is closer to 50 percent.

It's the same way a white player is always included when several athlete criminals are mentioned in an article, even though the ratio of black athletes arrested to white athletes arrested, especially for serious crimes, is at least 10:1 and probably more like 25:1 or more.

maybe it's because most hockey players are Canadian or European

"maybe"

That's funny.

If it's true that most Hockey players are Canadian and Canada
has a much lower crime rate than America; How would it not
follow that Canadians would be less violent than Americans?
How can that not be a major factor in this equation?
