The stupidest rule regarding the 'home nations' is the one that allows any player from them to play for any team. So unless the rule was changed in recent years an Englishman not good enough to play for England can opt to play for Northern Ireland, wales, or Scotland even if he's never set foot in those 'nations'.

The rule stating that a British citizen who was born overseas could represent any of the Home Nations has thankfully been scrapped. Things would instantly be a lot better if the ridiculous "grandparents" rule was likewise done away with...

I think it might have something to do with the old British TV show 'Allo 'Allo set in Nazi-occupied France. I remember one time in Ireland because I was wearing a French-looking blue and white hooped jersey one of my work colleagues said to me "shouldn't you also have an onion round your neck". When I asked what he meant he said he was referring to a character in 'Allo 'Allo who rode a bicycle with an onion round his neck. Supposedly a very French thing to do! Just like French TV used to stereotype Englishmen all wearing bowler hats and carrying umbrellas.

Yes Ba has scored only three goals for chelsea so far,two in the F.A. cup,one in the PL.Incidentally,all these goals have come against Southhampton-a poor side. Regarding the media,they are still busy worshiping the African savior who has come to save them from the dreadful Torres.They are too blind to notice that Ba is a downgrade on Torres.Ba has been very poor,worse than I expected actually. I agree Torres hasn't been to the expected standard,but Ba is definitely not the solution.Falcao/Cavani etc. would be expensive,of course.I think Chelsea should have gone for someone like Llorente,but as it is run by the jew,they give Chelsea another nice touvh of diversity.
