I saw online that Dirk only has a 25 inch vertical. I think that's impossible. Does anyone know if there is any truth to that?
I doubt that number very much but how much of a vertical does a seven footer with very long arms like Dirk has need. I have seen him dunk on enough people and block enough shots to know he is a decent leaper whatever his vertical. Dirk is a superstar and so I wonder if Dirk even goes through those type of tests anymore, it's probably been years.

Exactly!! That is part of the reason I dont buy into the Lebron Hype as a dunker. The guy is 6'8 with his great vertical and long arms how hard is it for him to jump the rest of two feet to dunk the ball? I like seeing shorter guys dunk because they have to be more athletic to do so ala Nate Robinson.

Exactly! Remember Rex Chapman.

If you find links to his dunks, post them if you can. If I remember correctly, Rex had a 41 inch vertical.

Yes those clips show Rex had a nice jumpshot as well. Unfortunately back then Rex had to put up with alot of "do you have any black ancestors" type questions because of his hops.

Another milestone Dirk:

884th game

Today vs. the Suns.

The old mark of 883 was long held by Brad Davis (white American).

Dirk is the all-time leader in virtually every statistical category for Dallas. That pretty much makes him the BEST Mavericks player EVER.

Everyone should watch the NBA All Star Game tonight. Dirk Nowitzki and Steve Nash are both starting. The two old teammates on the same team. I want to see Dirk win the MVP so bad. I know these games usually are more about the one on one players but I'm hoping they get the ball to Dirk alot and that he is selfish with it for a change. This could be a really good night if he can light it up in Dallas!Edited by: white lightning

The East beat the West by 2 points in the 2010 Nba All Star Game. Dirk played good as he scored 22 points. I really thought that he should have had the ball to try and win the game with a three but they gave the last shot to Carmelo Anthony. I was really rooting for the west to win because they had Nash, Nowitzki, Gasol and Kaman on the team.

Dirk dropped 37 in a nationally televised overtime game with the Hawks last night. The streaking Mavs are the hottest team in the NBA right now with a six game winning streak that should hit seven with a ESPN game at home against the Hornets tommorrow night. I think the Mavs really pulled off a nice trade with the addition of Caron Butler, Haywood and Stevenson and the subtraction of that idiotic and injury prone Josh Howard. I believe the Mavs are going to make a seriously deep run into the Western Conference Playoffs and I give the Mavs a 40% chance of beating the Lakers now as on paper they match up really well with the Lakers and the Nuggets and Jazz for that matter.

Another huge game for Dirk with 36 points last night. The idiots at NBATV( Chris Webber and some other black idiot) were laughing at Dirk when he dunked off a steal. They said something to the effect that Dirk should enter the slam dunk competition with sarcasm. They then said something like "He couldn't have duniked it any worse."

Dirk's dunk was incredibly ugly and awkward looking. He got the job done and didn't showboat, but man did he look bad on that one.

He was, no debate there. I'm just saying Dirk's dunk was ugly and awkward. That doesn't mean he's a bad player.

I watched the whole game and saw Dirk's dunk and it goes to show that the white man is more concerned with winning than style points. I have seen alot of one handed tomahawk dunks that were missed and clanged off the rims and almost every time it involved a black athlete, so a nice two handed quick dunk in transition makes perfect sense to me.

The Mavs have now won eight in a row and have moved past the Nuggets and Jazz into second place in the West behind another 27 point 13 rebound game for Dirk last night in a road victory over the Bobcats. The Bobcats incidentally appear to have the Cavs number as they are 3-0 against the Cavs this season. They are currently a 8th seed and are slated to play the Cavs in the first round if the regular season ended today, I would love to see King James go down in flames with a first round playoff exit and shut that hype machine up for awile.

I don't think the Cavs will go far in the playoffs, Guest301. Your analysis is spot on as they could even possibly lose to the Bobcats in the first round if they end up playing each other. I'll be rooting for Dallas in the playoffs as well as Milwaukee in the east considering they make the playoffs. I would like to see Bogut shine in the playoffs. I wish my Knicks were a playoff team as they are pretty white friendly with Gallinari, Lee, and Rodriguez.

You may not like your Knicks so much next year if they sign James and Bosh with that 30 million dollars cap room next year and maybe lose a David Lee in the process. I know they will try to keep him but he may have a better offer elsewhere. Lee right now is clearly the star player on the Knicks but he would obviously be under the shadow of James and Bosh.

If they get rid of Lee I won't be watching them. I know they are going to bring in a very high priced free agent next season. Either way if Lee ends up somewhere else he will still be a star.

Jason Richardson missed a crucial dunk the other night that cost the Suns the game. He looked pretty dumb. And this guy used to be one of the best dunkers ever. lol

Blown dunks kill momentum. Spectacular dunks can create momentum but normal breakaway dunks don't do much. So if your name is not Tom Chambers, or Brent Barry from back in the day, or chris Anderson, or Joe Alexander just do a simple dunk.

TRIPLE DOUBLE for Disco Dirk!!!

It's the 2nd of his career. It may not seem much, but at least 2 is better than NOTHING! Dallas trounces arch-rival Denver 109-93! Definitely one of the better moments I've seen of Dirk!

It's also great that Dirk seems to have reliable teammates (for now), especially that Beaubois dude who scored 40 points the other night!

Dirk knocked 4 triples (season best), and went 16-17 from the stripe!

34 points (7-17 FG's, 4-5 3pt's, 16-17 FT's)
10 rebounds
10 assists
1 block

What a game. What a player! What a career! He needs a ring so bad. Dirk really deserves to win a championship. Let's go Mavs. Playoffs are right around the corner.

Yeah, I picked the right night to go to my first Mavs game in years. Dirk was just on fire!! I knew he had some great passes, but I didn't know he was closing in on a triple double till the end. Whatta deal!

On a random note, it was cool to see so many kids -- white and black -- wearing #41 jerseys around the AAC.

A power forward like Dirk putting up a triple double is a awesome accomplishment since more times than not Dirk has to be fed the ball before he can do anything with it unlike Lebron and Kobe who have the ball in their hands all the time.
