Dontrelle "What'choo talkin' 'bout" Willis is getting pounded this season. He's 1-4 with a 6.22 ERA, and things are getting worse with each start. He had a horrendous showing against the Braves last night; check out the line:

2.2 innings, 10 hits,7 earned runs, 2 walks,0 strikeouts.

The announcing team was at a loss to explain his troubles (they suggested that he just HAD to be hurt) but I think the reason is obvious: Willis is a hurler, not a pitcher. Pitchers think, scheme, strategize, adjust; hurlers hurl. And once the batters adjust to the delivery style, it becomes batting practice.

Willis was the Great Black Hope that was going to show the way for future black pitchers. Just another flash in the pan.

Now all I hear from the media is the "downfall of Randy Johnson" blah blah blah. God almighty the guy is 40 something years old and they're talking about him as if he were losing his "stuff" prematurely.

Meanwhile Dontrelle Willis continues to flounder.
