And just like that, the Bengals have a majority White online! Taylor is no fool and look for Burrow to get even better. I’d say he’ll be in MVP contention this year.
Taylor is definitely not a fool. A protégé of Sean McVay, he’s learned a lot from his old boss. I have a theory that Taylor, deep down, prefers White OL, as McVay does, but he’s had sumos pushed on him by Willie Anderson, who apparently has been a Bengals adviser to the front office for offensive linemen for some time. Whatever is going on I’m so glad to see the Bengals have finally learned their lesson. Look for them to be a CF favorite next year.

A little off topic but Black o-linemen are also being signed by various teams as there's not enough overachievers to go around even if teams want them (and some don't). Will there be an improvement in the draft this year and in years to come? Team executives have to be willfully blind not to notice the large number of sumos drafted early each year who bust. But it's the same way with Black QBs -- the many busts are quickly consigned to the memory hole while the ones who succeed are salivated over.

Smart moves by the Bengals and I gotta say, the only highlight for me the last few years was Burrow coming in and not only lighting it up but coming in and being everything they have been trying to prop Mahommes up as. Watching the angst and anger by the Media, so certain they could sell Mahommes as the Tom Brady/Peyton Manning hybrid we have all been waiting for only to have Burrow swoop in and take the mantle. Very satisfying.

DE Wyatt Hubert has decided to retire before ever getting to play in a NFL game. He was injured all of last year, I believe his retirement was injury related.

Charlie Jones landed in the best possible spot. Doesn't mean he won't get screwed over like countless other White receivers, but it does mean he has a reasonable chance to be used to his strengths and thrive, possibly as a starter as soon as next year if Tyler Boyd isn't re-signed after the '23 season.

Exactly. Just they always want to racial slot the very few white receivers to the slot even if they have the speed of the starting outside
receivers. To put this kid in the slot is a waste. That being said I just want him on the field at first and then hopefully they can move
him outside where he belongs so we can see alot more big plays. Same crap they do with all of our fastest guys! Try to hide them.

Looks like the drafting of Jones will come at the expense of Irwin. I doubt he hill take a black dudes roster spot.

Another very good article on what may prove to be the steal of the 2023 draft:

This just made my day. Wish we had more honest media in this country. If the team plays him the kid will not make them sorry.
His ability in space along with his speed & athletecism makes him very tough to cover for corners & safties!

Here's another enjoyable read about Charlie Jones. It looks like his racial apprenticeship may be minimal, one year only at most if the Bengals decide not to resign Tyler Boyd after the '23 season, and there's no reason to since Jones is a notable upgrade over Boyd.

Another impressive article about Charlie Jones:

We need more young guys to break through. Many older guys like Thielen, Beasley, etc. etc are just about to the end of their great
careers. Who are the next generation of our guys that can become stars at the wide receiver position? Renfrow still has a chance but
the cupboard needs alot more bodies. I believe Jones can be special if they believe in him. Please don't let anymore elite talents
like Isabella be screwed over. I like the team Charlie Jones went to and I think he has a chance of not only sticking but becoming a
star in the coming years!

Looks like Charlie Jones has a torn labrum that he's trying to play through. Tough way to start his NFL career:

"Jones suffered an injury during practice ahead of the team’s first preseason game and left the field on a cart.

"Ahead of the Bengals kicking off against the Packers in that Week 1 matchup, Kelsey Conway of the Cincinnati Enquirer reported that Jones suffered a torn labrum, but will opt to play through it instead of shutting down for surgery.

"Bengals such as Logan Wilson and Tee Higgins have dealt with similar issues in the past, but an injury that hampers range of motion could be problematic for a rookie trying to make the most of his chances in the base offense while fighting for a starting spot as a returner on special teams.

"Jones received six targets in his debut against the Packers, catching two for 11 yards."

Tough break for Jones. I think he would be wise to shut down and be eligible to come off of IR later in the season so he can heal up.

Man another tough break for Jones. Sometimes I feel like a make believe witch doctor puts curses on so many or our guys as many
are fine in college and then as soon as they make the nfl, boom and they get hurt. When we have so few to root for to begin with it's
so hard to watch it happen. Part of making a team is staying healthy. I've always thought it's a combo of talent and luck as our guys
get targeted more in practices and in games. I've seen far too much evidence of this going on for a very long time.

I think we are just very aware. We follow these guys through college and the pros and of course the sample size is much smaller due to the caste system so every injury is a bit deflating.

There was a time when White players seemed to be hurt more often than Black ones but I don't believe that's the case anymore. Play fantasy football and you quickly realize there's a helluva lot of Black guys who go down.

There's been a lot of White Ironmen in recent years, starting with QBs like the Manning brothers, Favre, Brady, Rivers and others along with many o-linemen, tight ends, linebackers, etc. It's reckless to assume or claim every time a White player is hurt that it was caused by a teammate or an opponent targeting him. Injuries happen, they're an integral part of football and always will be.

With the optimism surrounding McConkey, Pearsall and McCaffrey in the upcoming draft, don't forget about Charlie Jones, who missed a lot of his rookie season due to injury but now looks to have a big opportunity in his second season as Tyler Boyd is expected to be allowed to test the free agent market shortly as Cincy put the franchise tag on Tee Higgins and also wants to keep Jamarr Chase. Jones needs to stay healthier and take advantage however or the Bengals may quickly move in a different direction, including promoting Andrei Iosivas over him or drafting or signing another WR. Iosivas was taken in the sixth round last year and has flashed potential.

Bengals expect Jones' leap at slot receiver, but could hit market for backup plan

Bengals sign Mike Gesicki. He was phased out of the Dolphins offense in '22 then was invisible with the atrocious Patriots offense in '23. Good landing spot for him, has a good chance of thriving with Burrow throwing him the ball. Seems like he's been around a long time but Gesicki is still just 28, prime years for a TE.
