I just saw this news item, typical for the presstitue media to not make a big deal out of an "honored and respected" black icon. Imagine if this was a former White NBA player like Larry Bird? Think it would have been big news?

This is typical of media treatment of the legal transgressions of famous blacks. They are above the law. We live in an era where airport security is going overboard in prevening anyone from taking things like a pair of nail clippers on an airplane and checking 90 year old ladies for bombs and a guy tries walking in with a gun. guess Russell is forgetful in his old age, but shouldn't carrying a pistol be something that sticks in your mind? The picture above the article shows him with Obama, the presidential gun grabber. I would say that Obama should be upset that a brother of his would be packing but remember the idea of disarming the people is to get the guns away from whitey.

This will not impact Russell's reputation in the least. Similar to serial abusers like Jim Brown, there is nothing Russell can do that would stop the media from treating him like some kind of hero. Note that Russell was released without charges. Try that yourself sometime and see if you don't end up in handcuffs and a jail cell.

NBA legend Bill Russell was cited Wednesday for having a loaded gun in his carry-on luggage at the Seattle-Tacoma International Airport, federal and airport officials said on Saturday.

Transportation Security Administration officials found a .38 caliber Smith & Wesson handgun in a male passenger's carry-on bag on Wednesday evening, according to a TSA spokeswoman. The man was traveling to Boston.

An airport spokesman, in a recorded telephone message, identified the passenger as Russell, the 79-year-old National Basketball Association Hall of Famer, who lives in the Seattle area.

The TSA spokeswoman said the gun contained six rounds. TSA contacted Port of Seattle police, who cited Russell for having a weapon in a prohibited area, a state violation, the airport message said. The firearm was confiscated, and Russell was released.

Firearms are prohibited in carry-on baggage. They may be carried unloaded in checked baggage and stored in a locked, hard-sided container, according to the TSA.

A representative for Russell could not be reached for comment.

Russell had been a star with the Boston Celtics in the 1950s and 60s, and was named NBA most valuable player five times. He later served as coach of the Seattle SuperSonics during the 1970s.
