perhaps this thread belongs in the High School forum, because the athlete technically is still a high school senior. but ...

Andy Isabella (Mayfield, OH) is one of the fastest kids in America. on the track, he's run a wind-legal 10.51 100-meters (the #22 time in the USA this year) and a wind-legal 21.27 (#30 in the USA). he also has a 6.72 60-meters (#5 in the USA, Ohio state record) to his credit this year.

he is the fastest sprinter in the state of Ohio.

on the football field, he's every bit as explosive. here's a snippet from a profile on him.

As a running back, he led Mayfield to the state semi-finals this fall with 27 touchdowns and over 1,700 running yards over the course of the season.

Isabella's raw speed, which he is still developing on the track, has been key to his success on the gridiron. He clocked 4.39 for the 40m at a Nike Sparq camp last June.

[Jimmy's note: you can see his official Sparq numbers here.]

"You just gotta get the ball in the kid's hands," said Mayfield head football coach Larry Pinto. "With his type of speed, you just want to get the ball any way you can. Once he gets the ball, at any given time he could score a touchdown. He's just that explosive.

"Andy has pro speed and I even would tell the newspaper, 'he almost has - in high school - a cartoon speed. It's pretty fast."

With his recent national success on the track, Isabella hopes to be a dual athlete and see just how fast he can go at U-Mass.

his speed just blows you away. when he hits a seam, he is GONE! despite all that, he ended up signing to play football for UMass.

he didn't receive a single FBS offer to play football or run track.

"weird," huh? especially since i thought all those bigger schools covet speed ... what happened to (in-state football power) Ohio State's (aptly named) Urban Myer? doesn't he recruit based on speed? this kid is faster than all those "real" affletes that he brings in from Florida, and he doesn't have the added baggage of a criminal record.

but Urban wasn't interested. perhaps if Isabella had a darker tan, he'd have "dat upside" that Division One recruiters are after ...

Another blatant shaft job courtesy of the casteons. Had this young man been an "afrolete", he'd had been "rated" a "5 star" by the pro-caste recruiting (dis)services. The "Big 10" would had most certainly been falling about themselves to court him.

Good find

I remember looking him up a while back and the bad photo looked mixed race but he is white. Lets keep an eye on him at UMASS. This is what we need: Track sprinters who play football (or baseball).
