2021 Rice Owls

Since 2005, Rice has started 14, 14, 8, 10, 11, 10, 12, 14, 11, 10, 12, 9, 10, 12, 10 and 12 whites. In 2021 the Owls look to start 9.


The big story with the 2021 Rice Owls is going to be Luke McCaffrey. He transferred out of Nebraska and it's mismanagement of the QB position. McCaffrey is the best QB that Rice has had on it's roster in terms of potential that I can recall. Let's hope he wins out the starting job and can have 3-4 strong seasons for the Owls. Another positive for McCaffrey is his long standing relationship with head coach Mike Bloomgren who coached Christian at Stanford.

I didn't know about the Bloomgren connection. That bodes well for McCaffrey's career there. It doesn't go against the notion that his family has had a heavy hand in his and Dylan's transfer decisions. Glad there is a fellow whitey to throw to as well.
