2021 Players Championship

The Players Championship, some call the fifth major begins tomorrow. Most all of the top players in the world will be there except number 12 in the world and four time major winner Brooks Koepka. He has suffered some kind of knee injury. Looking forward to a great tournament.

Bummer about Koepka. This will be a fun tournament to watch. Any style player can win at TPC Sawgrass. I’d like to see Rory play well and defend his title (from 2 years ago.)

I've tried to watch some of the "Live From" coverage on Golf Channel, but 60 year old SJW Rich Lerner is more unbearable than ever. One feature after another about racial discrimination, or pushing a feminazi angle. Since his god Tiger isn't around, Richie's obvious solution is to double down on his usual leftist agit-prop.

I'll be busy anyway the next few days and will only watch the final round on Sunday. The Players is always great theater with fans that are as enthusiastic as any, hopefully a good number will be allowed to attend.

Lerner's God Tiger might not be playing, but as I was watching "Live From" there was no keeping Tiger's name out of the conversation. Lerner asked, will there ever be another Woods to which Justin Leonard stated. "there will never be another Tiger Woods." Just on and on about Tiger this and that. No mentioning that Nicklaus is the only three time winner of The Players. Even though Woods was a great golfer, it seems that Nicklaus, the man with the most major wins, 18 and 19 runner ups in Majors never existed. 19 runner up finishes in Majors! That's a record that will never to be broken!

Rickie Fowler missed the cut as well and has fallen to 70th in the world ranking....and will now fall even farther.

A couple of players making early moves this morning where the scoring should be good are Cameron Smith and Lucas Glover already -3 after 5 holes.
Spieth has an early eagle put on number 2. Would move to -2 after 2.

Well, if you watch enough golf you'll see the pros hit shots that the normal hacker would hit. Just saw DeChambeau cold top a drive 143 yards and followed that with a huge shank. Westwood has hit some awful shots as well. There's been a couple of shanks on the famous number 17 into the water as well.
So, the next time you're out at your local course and you top one or shank one, don't feels so bad.

If any of you guys are interested in playing an identical copy of the par 3 17th at the Players Championship, there is a course in Myrtle Beach, S.C. called World Tour Golf Links. It is the same as the one as the Players, down to the tree that is to the right of the green. It's a beautiful course every hole is a copy of famous holes all over the world. They have the holes that makeup Amen Corner at the Masters and the 18th hole at the British Open. The rates aren't bad either from 55 to 85 dollars depends on the time of day.

Justin Thomas was the Boss today and wins The Players! I turned off the post-tournament interview the instant (((Steve Sands'))) second question to Justin was, "What do you think Tiger Woods saw out of you today?"

Lee Westwood didn't have anything close to his A-game tee to green but gutted it out by sinking many nerve-testing five to seven foot par putts and finished just a shot behind Thomas at the age of 47. Likely his last hurrah on the PGA Tour, where he's notably been one of those elite international players who came excruciatingly close at a number of majors and big events like this one but could never finish the job. Greg Norman and Colin Montgomery are two other great golfers who likewise had star-crossed careers in U.S. events. Surprisingly, an Englishman has never won The Players despite a half dozen of them currently being among the best in the world.

Justin Thomas becomes just the fourth golfer to win 14 PGA tournaments before the age of 28. Several years ago we were talking about a "big four" of Thomas, Spieth, McIlroy and Day dominating the tour for years to come, yet Thomas is the only one who's consistently been among the elite since. He, DeChambeau, Dustin Johnson and the oft-injured Brooks Koepka are the "big four" of American golfers now. Spieth has been very strong of late, would be great if he gets back in the hunt big-time.

Gotta also give props to Paul Azinger for his work as NBC's analyst. Wasn't a fan previously as he seemed to pick up on his predecessor Johnny Miller's mean streak and hyper-criticism, but he was great this week, striking just the right tone for the event and how big it is and hopefully it continues.

Yep. Didn't want to hear that either. The Golf Channel Live At "seems to mention Tiger in just about every segment. I've said so many times. I was hoping someone of those big four you mentioned in your post such as McIlroy, Spieth, Johnson, or Thomas would gobble up a bunch of Majors and wins and approach Tiger, that maybe one day we don't have to hear about Woods every tournament. Doesn't look like that will happen anytime soon.
Very happy for Justin Thomas. He's been beaten up by the media ever since he uttered the word "Faggott" in one of the tournaments. Hopefully, this win has put that behind him.
