It would be a pity though if bilderback didn't give the pros a chance ...sponsorship permitting ...aka geisting and feeney ....but you are right white lightning white USA athletes don't get enough of a chance or support to achieve after college on the track ...aka Shane Crawford , Brandon byram , 2 example of very talented individuals who could have done with some help from usatf ........but then again they are white

Yes I have argued that for years. The stereotypes are so strong in this country. England/United Kingdom is alot more fair. Sometimes I think some of our college kids should head over to England or Europe to continue their athletics careers. They would have an opportunity to chase their olympic dreams there.

I can't wait for the summer season to start heating up. Alot of our guys should start running soon. I really have a very good feeling about this summer. Expect some fireworks guys.

I'm also anxious to see young guys like Kristoffer Hari get back on track. He has so many injuries last year so he
didn't run much. Many other young guys to watch from Australia to Poland and England. Germany also has
some good young sprinters too.

Absolutely white lightning ,,white kids in the states face the color barrier .....whereas over this side of the pond at least guys will get a chance ......I mean the white American talent pool has got to be huge ....I still reckon like you said ...guys like Crawford teeters and byram ,,,with Anglo Saxon heritage should throw their lot in with the old continent .....and going back to hari ,,,yep I believe he has been injured .....so hopefully next winter we may see him over 60 .....also the Germans have sme serious non drugged talents...reckon reus is poised for a sub 10 ......and guys like jakubzyk and Keller will help push him .....also I do feel kilty will break 10 but may focus on the 200 for Olympic qualification ....and my favorite athlete presently ramil guliyev .....I feel all going well this guy is a serious medal, contender for rio .....saw this ethnic Russian ,Turkish representative in interview ( translated of course ) ....and I feel he has no fear of Caribbean sprinters ,,,which bodes well ...... Also the 200 Greek specialist tsakonas is a guy who has the ability to make a final .......still can't put my finger exactly why there's not more east European top end sprinters ....hhhmmmm...

Note ,,back to white lightning ...any kid with a German name should get in contact with the DLV ....they will get an opportunity ...and especially over 2/4 hundred meters at present both male and female ....athletes on the states have to start thinking outside of the box to achieve a pro career .....names like bilderback and geisting .....

Teeters opens this weekend in the 100m at the John McDonnell Invitational.

I'll be expecting him to do what he's capable of in a season opener and that's a sub 10.1. If he breaks 10 in this race then I'll get excited. :)

Dafne Schippers opened her outdoor season with a world leading 200m time of 22.25.
So now Jenna Prandini is the world leader in the 100m (Hannah Cunliffe is 2nd), and Dafne Schippers is the world leader in the 200m.
Women's sprinting has never been so good!

Very nice times for season openers in April. You don't want to push too hard this early in the season. They are all a long way from hitting their peak physical condition which should happen by July to August. Very happy with these times. With Kilty running the 200 currently is more about helping his speed endurance for the 100. He needs to finish his 100 meters races stronger. No one can run all out for the whole distance but the key is to run for 60-70 meters at max velocity and then to stay relaxed to carry as much speed as possible to the finish line. Many sprinters tighten up over the latter parts of the race. This is where speed endurance comes in. I'm really excited about Kiltys chances to go sub 10 along with many of the sprinters we discuss here. It would be incredible to see both Kilty and Reus do it this summer and I feel at least one of them if not both will finally break through the sub 10 barrier!

10.16 from Teeters with maximum (2.0) wind.
A little disappointing....

I don't want to get our hopes too high, but Jeremy Wariner ran in the 4 by 400 at Penn yesterday, and his leg (44.5) was the fastest of any runner on any team, despite his having to fight his way around a crowd. I'm cautiously optimistic, but that's really fast for a cold day this early in the season.

Yes please don't get your hopes up. He's ready to move on as he's a franchisee in some sandwich business where he also spends time managing in person. His wife has given him his ultimatum that this is the last year of his never ending comeback. Like Icarus he flew so high, but a combination of hubris (the Hart split then subsequent make up), injuries, and my sneaking suspicion of the timing of his decline with the emergence of EPO detection ended his run. I am of the camp that every sub 44 second runner in history has used EPO so I don't hold that against him in comparing his talent with the competition. My reasons for believing that are physiological. Lactic acid is the barrier and EPO is the tonic. Why you say in the age of detection then are there Sub 44's? The age old spy vs spy game of "now you see it now I mask it." Wariners history of injuries and fragile condition due to those cumulative injuries would undermine his training even if he was using EPO today. He can't push himself to the prior training loads necessary for sub 44 without risking new injuries.
Let's remember him when he was as smooth as molasses and ran like an antelope.

A few results from Clermont yesterday.

Danny Talbot opened up his season with an outstanding 10.15!

Christian Blum 10.31

Robert Herring 10.34

Roy Schmidt 10.38

Not sure why Julian Reus didn't run. He was supposed to open up in Clermont. Hope everything is ok.

I'm looking forward to the 1st Diamond League Meeting in Doha this Friday.

Tsakonas is racing in the mens 200 meters against a stacked field. If conditions are right
and he is in shape we could see him break his personal best time.

Schippers is racing in the womens 200 meters and that race on paper looks good too.

Good luck to both of them as well as the other athletes we root for here.

Daffne Schippers ran her first 100 meters race of the year in Doha tonight. She finished
2nd but ran an incredible time of 10.83! This woman is amazing. A medal contender for sure
over both the 100 & 200 meters at the Olympics this summer. Nothing would be better
than to see her take a double gold like Borzov did back in 80. Hope this is the start of another
incredible season. Wow the times she is running are astounding.

Wariner ran 46.04 for 3rd place in a Japanese meet.
That's not going to cut it at the Olympic Trials.

I want to bring a name to our attention here - Carly Muscaro of Merrimack University.
She won the indoor NCAA Division II 400m Championships earlier this year. Her time was the 2nd fastest indoor time in NCAA Division II history.
and this weekend ran 23.41 for the 200m and 52.09 for the 400m outdoors.
Both times were the fastest women's collegiate times (at any level) for the weekend.
I believe her 400m puts her in the Top 15 collegiates in the country.

Don't know.
But my big complaint with Teeters (and his coach), is that he doesn't race enough.
Several times last year, he only raced in the heats at track meets, and then would skip the final.
Then when he ran in the final at the big meets (Big 12, NCAA, etc), what did he do?! Choked. Because he's not used to running when the pressure is on.
Racing in heats does not prepare you for championships.
And besides that, he just doesn't race much at all.

Remember teeters is not a choker ....he may still have injury issues and I reckon his coach manages him well .....this guy is absolute blue chip ......a future usatf champ .....but teeters needs to find a good pro coach ....seagrave or Pfaff .....teeters has nothing to fear at ncaa level .....also of note is Utah state athlete Parker bluth over 200 m......bluth a naturally talented 200 who needs to fill out .....

Remember teeters has pushed bromell over 100 the last few yrs and we know where bromell has landed ...so in my book teeters has every right through his ability to follow bromell out of the big 12 into the pros and be one of the best period ......can never figure out why American white fans always dis, the white sprinter .....it's so obvious how much ability and capacity this young man has ......
