The Vancouver/ Chicago series was something else. It seemed Chicago was destined to keep chipping away at Vancouver's 3-0 series lead and launch a historic comeback. It kept happening all the way to that bad giveaway by Chicago in overtime of game 7 that led to the quick goal.

It's good to see a Canadian team as the top seed advancing and a threat to win the cup. I think the last Canadian team to win the cup goes all the way back to Montreal in 1993?

Yes, that's a long time. Would be nice to see Vancouver win it. I think Canada should have at least two more teams in the league, one in Quebec, with Winnipeg and Hamilton also worthy. Canadian cities seem to lack the corporate sponsorship and largess that U.S. cities come up with to build arenas and keep teams.

I'm glad that Vancouver spoiled Joel Ward's heroics..

As for Washington.

Tampa's really on a roll right now. I wonder if there will be a housecleaning if Washington does another early playoff fadeout.

Great O.T win for Vancouver on a giveaway by Nashville. The goalie was out of position. If Vancouver wins the cup it will be great for the Canadian fans of Hockey. A Canadian team hasn't won the cup since Montreal in 1993 I believe, will this be the year? Vancouver is my favourite team left.

Yes, with the Canadian dollar now just slightly stronger than the American one if I'm not mistaken, you'd think maybe it would be time for a Canadian owner to bring one of the American teams from the south back to Canada. I was really disappointed when the Winnipeg Jets lost their team (to Phoenix I believe). At least with the Quebec City Nordiques moving to Colorado, Quebec still has Montreal which is the team that had the much bigger following in Quebec.

I should say that some American cities take taxpayer money (a form of corporate welfare really) to cover part of a new stadium or Arena's construction. I am not aware of any Canadian city doing this.

The argument I heard in Jersey was that it brought back money into the economy for the working class of the city, so therefore it was o.k to use taxpayer money. This happened even more often in heavily black and democratic cities.

That was the lamest 3rd period ever by a team facing elimination. The Predators mailed it in. They only had something like 6 shots on net, with at most 1 forcing Luongo to make a a decent save. Good riddance to the most boring team of the entire playoffs.

Don't forget the Sharks' other non-White: the Asian Devin Setoguchi. I'm definitely hoping that the Wings shall go through to the conference final. Too bad that Detroit is a failed city seething with blacks...

The Sharks are the team in the west that has been known to choke in the playoffs recently (despite their ranking), where in the east it's the Capitals.

I'm hoping for the Sharks. I've gotten tired of seeing the Red Wings in the playoffs, it seems, every year for the last 20 years. And they are known to usually advance far. They almost won the cup recently again against the Penguins. Datsyuk is amazing though.

The city is pretty pumped up for game seven tonight. When talking about "Detroit" you have to remember there are 2 Detroits. Detroit was once a thriving white metropolis of 1.5 million people, a model American city. The white population left the city limits when black behavior presented itself in the 1960's. But they did not disappear. They went to the suburbs and built nice friendly white towns and cities.
Those are the people that make up the Wings' fan base, not the 600,000 black, illiterate, govt supported people left within the city limits.

jaxvid - From Your above post and "Michigan" location I assume that You are either from the environs of Detroit or somewhere thereabouts. My statement was a bit imprudent and generalised so I unreservedly apologise if I have denigrated Your hometown, mate.

I know that the Wings fans are drawn from the White suburban population
smiley2.gif
(I actually own a Red Wings jersey, although I am not a Detroit fan. Joe Loius Arena? No thanks
smiley2.gif
). If only Whites exhibited the same iron preference as blacks for watching their own people in sports, then the NFL and NBA would have to radically alter their recruitment policies or fold completely. Now, that would give the "system" a hefty kick in the spuds...

My "failed city" comment largely stemmed from a couple of current affairs stories I have seen which dealt with Detroit's "problems" and showed a desolate urban wasteland populated by the usual collection of feckless blacks.

Anyway, best of luckto the Red Wings. I don't have to go into work tomorrow, so I'll keep an eye on the game via the Internet.

No offense taken, black Detroit is a sh!thole and should be referred to as one. I just wanted to point out that a white Detroit exists and it is that Detroit that goes to sports in the city. The Tigers for example have almost 100% white fans and the stadium, in the heart of the city, is one of the safest places to be. The Red Wings, Tigers, and Lions all play within a mile of each other and it is a heavily police patroled safe zone. White people have, once again, carved out a civilized place in the midst of an african wilderness.

It's much different then say Dodgers stadium in Los Angeles which is unsafe for white people, even during the games. Detroit sports venues have virtually zero percent minority presence so the games are generally a very pleasant experience.

For example, during the Tigers, Wings, or Lions games, the downtown area bars are filled to the brim with partying, drinking, friendly white people. Many of the bars run busses to and from the stadiums so you can hop on any one that comes by and enjoy a beer with a fellow fan from one of the many suburban enclaves that our people have fled to so as to avoid the black criminals that prey on unsuspecting white folk.

As with any majority white event there is little stress and with an occasional exception free from the unpleasantness that mars so many other activities in modern amerika. Detroit sports events are well attended for this reason.Edited by: jaxvid

Looks like Winnipeg is going to be back in the NHL next season, at the expense of Atlanta. It's good to see Canada get another team, but it's always sadwhen a city loses a team.

The Sharks win Game 3 at home, but squandered leads of 3-0 and 4-1 to hang on, 4-3. They allowed their momentum to slip away in the third period (in which Vancouver has been dominant all series), and I think it will probably cost them the series. The Canucks were called for 11 penalties compared to just 6 for the Sharks, so all in all it wasn't the confidence builder San Jose needed.

If Vancouver had just scored on their 5-3 power play like the Sharks did- that game would have gone to overtime. The Sedin brothers and Kessler have provided awesome offense in the series. I really hope the Ehrhoff injury isn't serious and he can make it back next game. He is a very important piece on the Canuck's defensive line. It would be significantly harder for Vancouver to win the cup without him.

Good news! I was reading about this on Yahooligans a couple days back, but I thought there wasn't the money to move the team due to Winnipeg refusing to upgrade an arena with taxpayer money. The Canadian dollar is stronger than the American one right now- if I'm not mistaken. The Canadian economy may be able to support an NHL team, even in one of Canada's smaller major cities like Winnipeg.

Nice finals matchup -- original six team Boston, which hasn't won the Cup in almost 40 years, against the 40 year old Vancouver franchise, which has never won it. Either the Stanley Cup will be back in Canada for the first time in 18 years, or a venerable U.S. team will win it; win-win the way I look at it.

Game 7 between Tampa and Boston was tremendous hockey. I didn't care either way which team won but I was a nervous wreck watching it anyway.

Everything is perfect for a borderline market like Winnipeg. Once the dollar goes significantly below par this team could be hanging on thread again. Winnipeg is a very small city for a major league and the city is also largely working class. The club needs a strong walk up and strong season ticket base among Joe 6 pack types to survive.

I agree it beats the NBA. Plus who needs to see Lebron flop his way to the finals...

Highly deserving teams, Boston and Vancouver. Long-suffering "fan base" in each town. Happy to see Bruins stuff the Tampas after Phil Esposito told the press that he doesn't even "remember Boston" and that the Lightning was his "child".

Boston very gritty team with no "passengers" on its roster. Canucks are a rare First-seed talent team that actually plays well and acheives the Finals. Ought to be excellent hockey, and outstanding ratings for Versus and NBC.

Isn't great that ESPN is shut out of this magnificent NHL matchup!?
