its guys like white lightning & jacknyc that really get the bulk of the info here. I sometimes wonder how they do it. I will google stuff they mention and can't find it.

also a thanks to all the members from outside the US that give their local reports. as more members from around the world join, the more information is readily available. speaking of which has anyone heard from Yuri?

Various results from tonight.

Another weak performance by Wariner in qualifying for the US Champ finals. He's in, but soundly beaten again with yet another slow time. Jordan Boase disappointed and did not make the finals. In Canada Connaughton finished second with a 10.45. LeBlanc was sixth.

Most of the buzz is over the distance events, where Galen Rupp (we've talked about some of his gutty races before) took over a tactical race and showed a kick no one knew he possessed in winning the 10000 last night. His last lap was 52 seconds including slowing and waving at the end. People are beginning to wonder if he can threaten for an international medal.

The 5000 finals are tonight, but ESPN coverage doesn't pick up until 11 Eastern time, so I won't be seeing the race. It's possible Rupp will be attempting a very difficult 10k-5k back-to-back double.

I dont see how Wariner could be washed up at 27. Hes got to be hiding some minor leg injury. If he dosent qualify it will be a sad day for me at least.

A little correction -
Connaughton was 2nd at the Canadian Championships, but his time was 10.31
LeBlanc's time was 10.47.

I wondered of nerves beat him again.
Fortunately for him the favourite Justyn Warner had a F/S.
Sam Effah 10.23 beat him but I confess to being disappointed with that time with a +1.9 behind them.

Yeah it was a bummer. JayConn cracked under pressure again. He is capable of so much more. To be crowned the 2nd fastest man in Canada is awesome but he should have won this. Oh well. Maybe he can do better in the 200 the rest of the weekend.

Yeah, I was looking at the prelims column. Still a disappointing time, especially given the tailwind. I have to agree with WL's assessment.

As for Wariner, it doesn't seem to be an injury. Remember how he used to flash across the line then "gallop out" (to borrow a horse racing terms) another 50 meters, looking comfortable and throwing his hands up in the air? Now people are saying he looked really winded and completely out of breath in his post-race interview and he had to work really hard in the last 100 meters just to finish third. As a result of his poor semi, he will get lane 2 in the finals and is increasingly considered a long shot to make the team.

In the old days, 27 was around the time a sprinter started to lose it. We've gotten so used to steroids that we expect people to sprint well into their thirties, but that isn't natural. If Wariner were juicing (like the mega drug cheat Michael Johnson), he'd have seven or eight years left, but right now it looks like he's totally clean and starting to slow down.

all very true, but he ran 44.88 to open his season this year. he is going backwards and it has to be more then age. you don't go sub 45 for you first race then have trouble breaking 45 if your 100%.

He pulled up in a race in the Caribbean earlier this year and did not finish.
I think they said it was a back problem.
He hasn't been the same since then, but strangely, he has been getting slower in every race since then.
I'm very worried that he might not even make the team for the WC.

In the past when you were 28 you were usually in the twilight of your career. I was just watching the CBC feed and Tyler Christopher announced his retirement. He is younger and than Wariner and has been going backwards since his surprise bronze in 05'. 400 meter runners can fall off the map due to the intense training and injuries that occur.

44.98 for 2nd (barely) at the US Championships.
He just did not have 'it' in the homestretch.
Not the Wariner we used to know; but he started the season strong.
So maybe he can still put it together for the World Championships.
Wariner has been the only white, male sprinter to win a major championship in the past 20 years.
We really need him to stay on top, and inspire all the youngsters coming up.Edited by: jacknyc

It's been extremely disappointing watching the US Track & Field championships. I might as well be watching the Jamaican or some African country's national championship. Maybe USA T&F should adopt a new motto: "Whites need not apply".

Save for Wariner, I have so far not seen a single White man or woman in any of the sprint events, 100/100H/110H/200/400m. I watched the quarters, semis, and finals, with more to go. Things are equally bad in the in-field events, as blacks have already won the men's hammer, women's high jump and discus, and are likely going to win the long and triple jump, as well as men's high jump. I believe Whites will win both javelin and pole vault events, and maybe men's shotput. Not sure about discus.

It was good to see Galen Rupp win the 10K, but then African mercenary Bernard Lagat won the 5000m. I'm not sure how the White men and women will fare in the remaining long distance events, but overall, it looks like the caste system is firmly taking hold in T&F similar to football and basketball. Sad thing is, Whites elsewhere in the world are doing great in many events, often times dominating the in-field and representing strongly across the board.

White Lightning, why is this? Are young white kids being discouraged from T&F at an early age, especially the sprints and high/long jump?

Jared Connaughton was the leading qualifier in the 200m at the Canadian Championships. He ran 20.77.
Finals later today.
Jenna Martin won the women's 400m in 51.95

I'm not worried about the less-technical hammer throw event.. White men will always dominate the important shot-put and javelin events. Personally, I'm not big into the discus event either.

Many of the black high-jumpers will be sent to the world-stage to get defeated by Europeans! These blacks lack a "truly elite" ability. It's just like America sending inferior wrestlers' to the Olympics just to get picked apart like an orange. Triple jump is just a lame event to me. Black jumpers just don't intimidate me, and, frankly, they never have. In general, White Americans aren't "in awe" of jumpers and refuse to give them "power."

The MSM certainly spreads the idea that blacks in basketball, soccer and track are of a "special genetic stock" (and blacks often get to go to the "exclusive academies" as teens), but it's mostly BS of course.. as many blacks are on illegal PEDs and other blacks are quite beatable, very beatable, and will be beaten on the World Stage. Many blacks in track seem to be full-on homos, and, no reason for me to sugarcoat it, but some of the Whites are very effeminate - too.

A team sport like hockey is much more conducive in determining who the alpha-males REALLY are than most track events. The reason some of these blacks are in track is because they don't want to get hit in sports like football, rugby or boxing..

I'm waiting for someone to say that I'm knocking "black dedication and hard work"..

I noticed 100m female champion - Carmelita Jeter's - Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle abs! Should I praise her or should I be suspicious? Do I want White women to be on steroids and screw up their bodies? And screw up their potential White children?

Allyson Felix has generally looked like a "normal" broad, and wins because she is streamlined, unlike all the big booty sistahs in the short sprints.. less friction equals superior fluidity/mobility. Again, few of these blacks are true Wunderkinds.

You will be hard-pressed to find a "Roger Federer of T&F.."

I think the interest of White strength people have ebbed. Most lifters are on steroids and the have to eat like a grazing bull before it's sent to the slaughter yard. There was one notable Black win in the hammer throw as he did the best American throw in 11 years so that was legitimate. As for Jeter she is Flo-Jo light....

American Track and Field is racism at it finest. Whites are told from the time they are kids that they cannot run or jump. Most kids believe it. I still hear kids and even adults frequently who think that blacks have an extra muscle in their legs! LOL. I'm serious. It's so sad that people believe everything they hear. Just like in Politics. I have often said that America could be a hotbed for white sprinters if only someone encouraged them and recruited them. Whites are late bloomers and usually make their mark later in high school or college. We just don't have enough particpation. Blacks are not superior athletes. They never have been and never will be. Whites are just as good but we are too brainwashed for our own good.

Brandon Byram scraped into the semis with a 5th place in his heat (20.62) and 4th slowest qualifier overall.

No-one would choose to gamble on 5th spot so it seems he may be off the boil compared to earlier on in the season. Disappointing!

Meanwhile Connaughton let the 200 slip away. 2nd in 20.75 (+2.5) so,again,a fairly mediocre result.Edited by: mastermulti
