This is hardly an adequate recap if the first round singles action, just some bits and pieces .

Novak Djokovic wins a five setter in extreme heat. Given his past history in these type of matches he must be relieved.

The only major seed to go down was number eight Li Na.

Past champion Lleyton Hewitt loses.

Last years sensation American Melanie Oudin wins her match.

Sharapova looked very uneven in her victory.

Nadal and Federer win in straight sets.

Highlight was Roger Federer's tweener.

Watching Roddick's behaviour tonight towards the foot fault lineswoman reminds me of why I hate him so much. He's the Serena Williams of the men's game. Of course, John McEnroe will continue to defend him.

I'm with you Matra1. Roddick's antics are extremely unprofessional and I'm certainly no fan of his, either. I was rooting for Tipserovic tonight and was glad to see that he pulled off the victory to send Roddick packing.

Roddick is an under-achiever in my book. He should have at least 3-4 majors to his name by now, but has always folded when it really matters. The physical talent has been there, but I'm not sure he has the mental strength of a Federer or Nadal.

There are certainly many more talented white male players for us to root for, including a couple of Americans, going forward.

Young American Ryan Harrison just pulled off a Federer-like shot worthy of making the highlights. It looked liked a between the legs attempt was about to be made. Instead he whip the ball from the left side of his body while runningaway from the net for an outright winner. Beautiful, it was.He is in a tough match at the moment with Stakohoshy. He is down one set and up 4-3 in the second.

McEnroe just said on ESPN that Serena Williams deserved a lenient punishment for her outburst last year because she'd suffered racial taunts in the past. John McEnroe, you are total joke!

The Ryan Harrison - Sergiy Stakhovshy match was one entertaining tussle. It came down to a fifth set tie-breaker won by Stakhovshy. I know Ryan feels bad after the heartbreaker of a loss, especially since he could not capitalize on three consecutive match points in the tie-breaker. I like his all around play, he will work the ball around and come foreward. So many young players want to bang from the baseline only. Give Stakhovshy credit, he could have wilted in the hostile environment.
P.S. - Sorry for butching Stakhovshy's name in the previous post. Edited by: Quiet Speed

Looks like we've found another Caste supporter: Jim Courier. He claims Gael Monfils, the "Frenchman", is the "greatest athlete" to ever play the game of tennis.

I heard McEnroe say that Monfils might fake injuries to get some rest.

He just said it again! Courier on Monfils: "He is the best pure athlete tennis has ever seen".

Too bad Federer and Nadal among others are not as affletic.

How many Grand Slam Tournaments has Monfils won?

Funny how Negroes are always recognized as the best athletes even when their performance lags far behind elite Whites who dominate.

One of Courier's many activities.

Wiki:

He also founded Courier's Kids, a non-profit organization that supports tennis programs in the inner city of St. Petersburg, Florida.

In addition to the analysts and media fawning all over afflete Monfils, he has also become a favorite of the crowds at Flushing Meadows. The DWFs never cease to amaze me. No matter the sport or venue, they are always looking for their next precious black to worship.

In case of Monfils, we're talking about a marginal tennis player who has made only 1 semi-final (2009 French Open) and 1 quarter-final appearance (2 counting the US Open 2010) in all the majors he's played in. He's the 17th ranked player in the world and not even remotely in the same league as the top (all white) players in the world. But because he's black, "flashy", has the "athleticism", and of course the stadium brightening smile, the fans love him. I hope Djokovic knocks him out, but clearly, having the crowd behind you can give an extra edge. Worst case, either Soderling, Federer, or Nadal will eventually get him should he slip past to the semis.

I still remember last year when Monfils was playing Nadal in the US Open (4th round, I think), and was handily destroyed by the Spaniard. A fan poll question went up the screen, asking "Who would make a better football player?" The results were shown some time later, and in true DWF form, 70% voted for Monfils. To his credit (and to my surprise), John McEnroe said Nadal had the size and build of a safety and tailback, and would make a good football player himself.

The main issue of course is how thoroughly brainwashed white people are in this country, that without hesitation, they picked the black guy for no other reason than because he's black, even though Nadal was handily beating him at the time, and he has shown for years, as an 8-time GS winner, what a world-class athlete he is. But I guess the only thing these mindless drones have been conditioned to look for is skin color.

Tennis players rank among the best athletes in any sport. Their conditioning is superb, as is their hand-eye coordination. Nadal is feral on the court, while Federer's style is reminiscent of great ball strikers from the wood racket era, but with more power.

The first time I ever heard of Monfils was during a Grand Slam event a few years ago. Besides the putatively White announcers cooing about his athleticism every time he made a good shot, what I'll always remember is seeing him already being featured in a commercial for a tennis racket company that very same day.

I can't wait for the Williams sisters to retire (Venus hasn't won a Grand Slam event other than Wimbledon in 9 years), when tennis becomes an all-White affair at the top again, as it has almost always been and will almost always be.Edited by: Don Wassall

Yeah guys the media is so stupid. They are about as bad as the fans. It must be a prerequisite to keep their jobs. It sure seems that way. Monfils is so overrated.

Jim Couriermust befull of Schlitz. Jim Fowler muttered something similar at the Australian Open some years ago. Patrick McEnroe shut him down right quick and told him he considers Roger Federer more athletic. Fowler seemed stunned was left babbling something about explosion and whatnot.Edited by: Quiet Speed

Verdasco v Ferrer looked like one of the great matches of the year. Unfortunately ESPN preferred Venus Williams followed by another match with Kim Clijsters. I like Kim but I'm tired of the constant references by the commentators to her being a mother and how difficult it must be to be a mother in the sport. We heard all this stuff last year. Enough! In my view ESPN is even more bias than other networks in favour of the women's game. ESPN's cultural Marxism is really over the top.

Mary Jo Fernandez: "He's so charismatic, Monfils, so athletic".

It's just incredible. Even Djokovic said Monfils was "athletic" the other day. (He was probably just repeating what everyone else was saying). It's starting to remind me of Martin Luther King. Every time his name is said in the US it is preceded by the word "Dr" - even though King actually plagiarized his doctoral thesis. You cannot mention Monfils without also saying he's athletic.

Monfils goes for a ridiculous "tweenerish" shot when he did not need to. The ball was going towards him. He was not running back to retrieve it. I'm glad Brad Gilbert and Darren Cahill both criticised him for trying to be on the highlight reels rather than concentrating on what is practical to win each point. Needless to say Chris Fowler (probably still upset about Ghana losing to Uruguay at the World Cup) kind of excused Monfils by saying he's all about the show! Yeah Chris, but in trying to show off he lost the point when he could have won it.

Monfils has actually been playing well, a break up on Djokovic in the first set, so why not concentrate on winning instead of trying to get on Sportscenter's top ten?Edited by: Matra1

Djokovic came back and won the first set in a tie-break. He handled the windy conditions better than Monfils to win the second. Now even Chris Fowler is brutally attacking Monfils for his "lack of professionalism" for giving away another point on a "showtime shot"! When you fall out of love with someone that love turns to hate, not indifference. I'm guessing Fowler's now bitter towards Monfils for getting his hopes up and then badly letting him down.

How stupid! With negroes it's almost always style over substance.

He probably couldn't stand all the attention Federer received with his "tweener" shots.

Athletic and speedy are descriptions routinely reserved for blacks.

Yahoo:

NEW YORK (AP)â€"Third-seeded Novak Djokovic beat No. 17 Gael Monfils 7-6 (2), 6-1, 6-2 Wednesday to reach the U.S. Open semifinals for the fourth consecutive year.

With swirling wind topping 20 mph in Arthur Ashe Stadium, 2008 Australian Open champion Djokovic was the more aggressive player, and he won the point on 40 of 59 trips to the net.

Monfils showed off his speed and athleticism, sliding across the hard court as though it were made of clay. But he also tried to get too fancy on one point, jumping and bringing his racket around his body and through his legs, when a regular swing would have sufficed. His attempt at a trick shot landed in the net.

Djokovic was the 2007 U.S. Open runner-up and exited in the semifinals in 2008-09â€"losing all three times to Roger Federer.
