Well, it's that time of year again! The NCAA Tournament is back. I love watching all the games in it. I was looking at the brackets when they came out, and once again this year,a lot of the whiter teams in the tournament will be meeting in the first or second round. A few examples are BYU/Florida in round 1, likely meeting between Butler and Vanderbilt in the 2nd round, Syracuse/Gonzaga in 2nd round, and Kansas/ N. Iowa possible in 2nd round.

But we do get some good caste matchups in the first couple of rounds, too. Some examples are: Duke vs. Cal/Louisville in 2nd round, Notre Dame vs. Baylor in 2nd round, Florida/BYU against Kansas State in 2nd round, Purdue vs. Siena in 1st round, New Mexico against Montana in 1st round, Gonzaga against Florida State in the 1st round, and Northern Iowa against UNLV in the 1st round.

I'll be looking forward to the tournament this year, especially with Duke, Kansas, BYU, Butler, etc. all in the tourney!

Not to mention some mostly black teams that got left out like the Mississippi schools and Va. Tech.

Some comments:
Florida and Purdue only start 1 white player now and only 2 whites play much for both- I think. If fair, these would be amongst a small group of the blackest teams in the NCAA, but of course as we know the NCAA isn't fair! Purdue used to play 3 whites total and start 2, but now starts only 1- I think just (Chris Kramer), now that Hummel is out. I was a bigger fan of Purdue when they had Hummel even though Chris Kramer is my favourite player for them. Florida only has 2 white guys who play much in Chandler Parsons and Dan Werner and Werner doesn't start anymore. Correct me if I'm wrong guys.

Duke has a good draw and has a great shot at getting to the final 4 or even winning it all.

One comment Lambert: Not sure if you were implying that they were, but Syracuse is not white friendly- Andrew Routins is the only white player who plays much at all for the Orange.

A Kansas/Duke, Kansas/Wisconsin or Butler/Duke, Butler/Wisconsin final would be nice! I also would love to see Northern Iowa and Notre Dame do well. Kansas or Butler against Notre Dame in the final would be nice too!

I don't have the brackets in front of me right now, so let me know if I'm off on anything I said guys.Edited by: ToughJ.Riggins

Tough, I wasn't implying that the Orange were white friendly, they do start Rautins though, which is sadly one more than a lot of teams in the tournament, (Pitt, Georgetown, Kentucky, Marquette, New Mexico, Tennessee, and Cal are a few of the teams I could name off the top of my head with nearly all-black teams,) which is why I put them on the list. With all of these coal black teams out there, even teams with one white who starts or plays a lot is better than teams with none.

I knew Hummel was out, but I hadn't watched the Boilermakers in a while since early this year.... I had no idea they went so black.

I know Florida started Parson and played one or two more white players, so I mentioned them. I haven't watched them since early in the year, though. I wish the Gators still had Calathes.

But I do know Butler has two really good white players on their team, (plus a couple more whites) and that Kansas has three whites on the floor at times. (Aldrich, Reed, and Morningstar.) Duke also gets a very nice draw for a tourney run.

Some great realistic finals for us are the ones that Tough mentioned. I think Duke/Kansas is very likely. Don't count out sleepers like Notre Dame to make a deep run.

Thanks for the corrections, Tough

Rautins, I got his name wrong- thanks for correcting Lambert. I think you are right that Florida has 3 whites that play some- two a lot- so they aren't a bad team to cheer for. I consider a team that gives starter type minutes to two whites and has a third white guy in the top 3 bench players to be at least a tolerable team and coaching situation. A team like this should be amongst the blackest teams in the tournament- instead of the middle of the pack though- if it were fair.
Thanks for the write-ups Lambert.

I'll be rooting for Duke, Notre Dame, Northern Iowa, and Wisconsin as well as any of the other white friendly teams. If either of these 4 teams won it I would be happy.

Love the tourney! Can't wait to see how some of our teams stack up. One of my buddies told me the other day that Jay Bilas actually has Cornell in his sweet 16! I couldn't believe it! Hopefully Duke can shake the monkey off their back that they've in recent years and make a run deep into the tourney.

Ditto to those sentiments and rooting for those teams in the exact same order of preference that you posted above except I would put BYU in the mix somewhere on that list.

Looks like BYU will defeat Florida in double overtime.

I saw that about the Irish.

Old Dominion held Harangody scoreless until the last couple of minutes in the game.

At least Fredette and the Cougers won today, with Jimmer putting in 37 points. 'Nova escaped Robert Morris in OT.

Here's to Duke, Butler, Gonzaga, and St. Mary's winning today.

From some more teams I've seen today. Robert Morris is all black, Sam Houston State, Kansas State, and Old Dominion, is all-black, and Villanova, North Texas, and Baylor each have a white that comes off the bench. Nova's guy is Taylor King, who I believe came over from Duke.

Saint Mary's is trailing Richmond 9-6 early in the 1st half.

First time BYU got past the opening round in about 5 years. They are usually one and done. Good luck to BYU, Duke and the few other non-racist teams in the tournament.

St Mary's is doing work with Richmond. They have great hustle, rebounding, passingand shooting. Sanham was the star of the game with 27 and 10. The whole lineup is good. Steindl can really shoot the three and boy is Dellavedova a do it all player. Not to mention McConnell who can drain 3's at will. Up 62-50 with 7 minutes left.

Great to see Team Australia, aka St Marys make it to round two. Also, nice for once to have a pro-white team like BYU win a close one. I haven't kept track but it seems that over the last few years, the white teams would constantly be on the losing side of close finishes.

Great game BYU-Florida 2OT's! Jimmer Fredette is the player of the day with 37!! He's got a nasty ankle=breaking cross-over...many of his buckets were driving in lay ups! He's got good all-around game! He clamped down with some good Defense at the end...BTW Chandler Parsons had 20 pts; 10 reb; 6 assist

Northern Iowa beat UNLV 69-66! Sorry to see them have to face Kansas in the next round...thought they had alegit to reach the Sweet 16..til the brackets came out.

Good to see 3-seed Georgetown go down to 14-Ohio U. 97-83!

Good-bye Georgetown!

Congrats to the Bobcats. NIce to see No. Iowa win as well. The only game on now is an all-black fest between The Black Eagles of Marquette and the Huskies of Washington.

Robert Morris leads Villanova by six at halftime.
They should have given a Surgeon Generals warning with that game. Betting on Villanova can be hazardous to your health....

Good to see Blacktown dispatched. The Black Dogs (Huskies) went on to win. Another school that if it weren't for their affletic programs, the school would be all white (with a few hundred Asians).

Glad to see Georgetown go down because no team has been more a symbol of black America the last 25 years than Georgetown, so goodbye! I was also glad to see BYU get over that first round hump and I give them a very good chance against the #2 seed Kansas St. Jimmer Fredette is the star of the tournament so far and has a look about him that reminds me of the star player in the movie Hoosiers. Duke needs to win it's game comfortably today by 15 or more points in another 1 vs 16 seed matchup to give them confidence as the competition gets tougher in the next round with the winner of California/Louisville.Edited by: guest301

Speaking of Cornell vs Temple, more caste speak. From Clark Kellogg:...and they(Cornell)are deceptively good on defense.....deceptively?!?!?

....Up by 15 with a little over 10 minutes to go. Not bad for an "unathletic" bunch of white guys
smiley2.gif

....Wait, Temple just took out Fernandez, the only white guy on the floor for them and have now gone coal-black. That's what they needed... Uh oh, now down by 18..Edited by: FootballDad
