The Bills take another white O-Lineman, Levitre!

Certainly making strides at the OLine.

So once you go black at tackle, you can go back, LOL. Seriously, I think the Bills tired of all the sumos underachieving.

Jairus Byrd was a 2nd round pick to the Bills with his 4.68 40 on a faster track. I talked about how overrated this guy is in the other thread I started. Byrd can't be more than a nickle corner IMO, but this makes it look like Dustin Fox won't be in the Bills plans again.

BTW Byrd was picked in the top third of the 2nd round

Thanks backrow I have never heard of him before.

Vikings have picked fatass Phil Loadholt. About 340lb. if I remember right. Hopefully the Dolphins would take Jason Phillips at inside LB.

after fielding sumos, i wonder whether their pre draft acquisitions and taking two white OL are pure coincidence?

5 whites taken with 12 picks to go. not too bad.

Yeah that's exactly it backrow, but you beat me to making this point. Teams like Cinci that don't get this will continue to be cellar dwellers. Even the Jags drafted a white OL now that Shack Harris isn't GM anymore.

We need Austin Collie to go by the end of the 3rd and Hartline, Peterman and Means to be drafted. At RB Roehl and Zwinggi and wildcat QB/ "project" RB Julian Edelman are great prospects, but somehow I doubt they'll hear their names called.

Predictions guys. When will Austin Collie go? I'm guessing 4th round.
Third round. Hartline will go late, and we'll be lucky if Peterman goes. Do you seriously think the NFL will draft an athletic white QB in Edelman, hah?

I think Collie will go in the late 3rd or early 4th round.

The Baltimore Ravens have just selected Paul Krueger. He should be able to eventually start ahead of Trevor Pryce.

They are going to do to Julian Edleman what they did to Eric Crouch, but Julian will only be a PFA. They will force Julian to try slot WR, when he should really be playing RB and wildcat QB and he will be cut or taxi-squaded at best. Edited by: ToughJ.Riggins

two white playersback to back, right after Kruger (Ravens are a good fit for him and he will learn his craft from Price, Bannan and Jarrett Johnson!) Patriots selceted a german national, Vollmer.

my expectations are exceeded at this point. next big questions are, who will draft McGee and where will Collie go?

I believe Kruger lost his other kidney by being attacked and stabbed by a bunch of thugs in Utah. Hopefully those lowlifes will be put away for "at least" 20 years and God willing Kruger will be able to stay healthy and keep playing.

Vollmer is a 6'-7" white tackle out of Houston. This is literally the only smart move the Pats made all day. If you recall, they passed on Dan Connor 3 times in last years draft. This year they traded down and allowed the Packers to take Clay Matthews.

After all the hype of the Pats drafting DE/TE Connor Barwin, they took two DBs and an obese DT. Barwin was probably the best overall athlete in the draft (he also played basketball college), and could have replaced the worst starting TE in football, Ben Watson. He would have been an obvious choice to replace Mike Vrabel.

The Pats are very stupid when it comes to drafting white defensive players. Teddy Bruschi, Mike Wright and Ray Ventrone (assuming he's not cut) are their only remaining white defensive players.

Congrats to the Texans and Packers.Edited by: Thrashen

I have Roehl as my 9th best RB, but Roehl could very well be better than any RB other than Knowshon and Donald Brown if given a chance. Roehl could be a smaller version of Beanie Wells or maybe a faster version of Shonn Greene (I only have Greene slightly higher due to unbelievable production against tough Big 10 competition). Zwinggi I have as my 11th best RB based on his vastly superior potential compared to his moderate production.

Benjamin Watson must know a bad secret about Bellichick or someone in the Pat's organization. A loser that has started for this long has to have something like that. The Patriots seem to have taken a disturbing turn here for the worst the last two years.

Very disappointing on the Pats. My new favorite team is GB, I have decided. My Giants should have waited and taken Austin Collie who is better than Nicks, if they wanted another Flanker. They really needed a split-end anyway and Nicks will not replace Burress well as a split-end. Austin Collie was the best remaining WR after Crabtree, Bey, Harvin and Maclin were gone.

I am now a complete cheese head! Go Packers!

The Packers, Bills, and Texans are all rising up on my list of favorite teams for this year. Hopefully the Steelers won't screw this pick up.

The honor roll so far, for the sake of convenience:

1) Matthew Stafford
2) Mark Sanchez
3) Brian Cushing
4) Alex Mack
5) Clay Matthews
6) Eric Wood
7) James Laurinaitis
8) Eben Britton
9) Connor Barwin
10) Max Unger
11) Andy Levitre
12) Paul Kruger
13) Sebastian Vollmer

There are also three Polynesian players:
1) David Veikune(looks pretty white to me)
2) Rey Maulauga
3) Fili Moala

According to last year's NFL draft thread, there were 68 white men selected out of 252 total picks, a very slight uptick from 2007 when the numbers were 65/255.

I guess all we can do is hope for another very small increase in white men drafted again this year.

Thanks for this info Van_Slyke! This is very useful for our record keeping for if things are changing and for research purposes.

Moreno was a wasted pick by the Broncos imo. I see him as a change of pace type runner with Hillis in the backfield, not someone who should get a majority of the snaps with someone as talented as Hillis (who is like 30 or 40 pounds heavier and very agile, fast for his weight/size) also in the backfield.

That would be in a fair world. But they are probably going to run Moreno a crap ton and I have a feeling he wont hold up the entire season.

Moreno reminds me of Pierre Thomas of the Saints, who went undrafted but still contributes to his team. When given the majority of the carries his body cant hold up the way he runs. But as a change of pace runner he can get it done.

If Orton is qb they will probably need a strong running game and hopefully they will have a rotation of guys running the ball, and im praying Hillis is one of those guys. Kind of something like how Giants had set up with 3 runningbacks. Hillis could be like the Brandon Jacobs of the Broncos.

Im trying to be optimistic because i just got married haha. Imo i wish he wouldve gotten traded somehow, some team couldve used him, well if they arent really planning on using Hillis on the Broncos that is. I mean seriously, what team couldnt use a guy like Hillis at halfback? Its one of the most insane things I have seen since i have became aware of the caste system. A talent like Hillis at his size is rare.

All of these talented White players who finally get a chance to play are 4 to 6 years into their careers. By the time they get the chance to shine they are in the middle of their careers, some of them even later. I hope that isnt the case for Hillis, well id rather that then him not get a chance to play halfback at all.

Im hoping the Saints plan on using Heath Evans as a short yardage back. Hes got good vision, has good burst, is strong, tough to take down. Hes in his 30's so hes not as good as he used to be but he can still grind out 4 to 5 tough yard carries a game and break off a few 20 yard runs from passes in the flats if the ball his thrown his way.

Its hard to gauge because the only games ive seen him play is garbage time carries when the Patriots were trying to run out the clock and the teams were knowing they were going to run.
