Here are my projections for the Broncos' white starters this season.

RB John Helmandollar will see quite a bit of time this season, as should RB Brett Denton, TE's Ryan Putnam and Jared Hunter, and RT-Paul Lucariello. On defense, CB Chad McKibben should get some time, as well as WILL LB Kyle Gingg, MIKE LB Josh Bean, RT Dan Gore, and LT Ian Smart.

We've got a heck of a game going between Boise and Oregon State, two majority white teams. Nice pick by Hall!

Boise State RB Vinnie Perretta had 12 carries for 65 yards and a TD. FB Brad Lau had a 3 yard TD catch and 3 carries for 8 yards. Jon Hellmandollar had 1 run for 2 yards.

Colonel, Vinnie looks kinda dark in that picture compared to the one I found on line. I guess it's sunny in Boise.

I read that Vinnie's father is Ralph Perretta former lineman with the Chargers. To the right is a picture of Vinny.

by the way, i didn't know Peretta had been moved to running back. he's been a receiver since he got to Boise. good for him, and congratulations to the Broncos!

their safety, Marty Tadman, and linebacker, Korey Hall, are a couple of tough customers.

I have an Italian uncle, my dad's brother, that got all of his mom's 100% Italian genes. So during the summer when he's working outside all of the time he looks like Peretta or in other words part black. My uncle has actually gotten so dark he's been mistaken for being black before. lol So when he's with his pale white wife a lot of people give them "looks". haha

Boise State demolished my Utes, but that's okay i guess. at least they play mostly white guys.

next up for the undefeated, 6-0, Broncos is New Mexico State on Sunday, October 15, and i think it's going to be aired on ESPN...

additionally, the Broncos are spreading the ball around in the backfield. WR/RB Vinny Perretta and RB Brett Denton have both been very productive lately, along with the usual suspects Big Z and Ian Johnson.

Vinny Perretta didn't score a touchdown for Boise State in the 55-14 blowout of Louisiana Tech Saturday night, but the wide receiver/running back added a needed response out of the backfield when starter Ian Johnson was not in the game.

Perretta was one of four Broncos to rush for more than 50 yards. Johnson led the way with 92 and one TD on 14 carries. Perretta carried the ball five times for 57 yards â€â€￾ an average of 11.4 yards â€â€￾ and caught one pass for six yards.

Quarterback Jared Zabransky added nine carries for 54 yards and two touchdowns, and running back Brett Denton had 11 carries for 50 yards and one TD.

Denton also turned a screen pass from Zabransky into a 24-yard touchdown to put Boise State up 38-7. The Broncos rushed for 265 yards and finished with 489 yards.

"That's saying we not only have great depth on the (offensive) line, but great depth at running back," offensive guard Jeff Cavender said.

With the game well in hand early in the first half, there was no need to continue calling Johnson's number and risk an injury. At the same time, the scoring gap allowed BSU coaches to get more players more time in the backfield, as they could be needed down the stretch.

"We want to keep getting (Johnson) the ball, but it is a long season and there is nobody that takes more of a pounding than the running back," BSU coach Chris Petersen said. "If we continue to give that guy the ball 30 times every game, he may not be with us for the entire season. So we're trying to be smart with him, but we need to feed that guy, and we will."

The past two games, Perretta has produced well when lining up in the backfield. He had a career day as a running back in last week's 36-3 win over Utah. He carried the ball 12 times for 69 yards, including an 8-yard touchdown.

"One thing that he offers different from Ian is a personnel matchup," Petersen said. "Is he a receiver or is he a running back? I think you can say yes to both those questions.

"Secondly, the guy's confident with very quick feet. So he's kind of a change of pace back from Ian. I think all of those things add positive things to our offense."

BSU has a freshman cornerback that we should keep our eye on.

Cade Hulbert was the fastest high school player in the state of Idaho before committing to BYU and then transferring to Boise State before school started. he's a Mormon, so maybe his mission had some impact? He has run a 21.94 200 and a 48.16 400, so some of you track guys can tell me how fast he really is.

anyway, he was fast enough to win the State Championship in the 400 three times and the 200 twice, while also being his class valedictorian.

apparently he was also recruited by Colorado State, Notre Dame, and Miami (Florida) and was the most impressive freshman DB in camp before leaving BYU. hmmm...

BSU beat Fresno State last night and RB Vinny Perretta had 4 runs for 16 yards and a TD, plus 3 catches for 17 yards and a TD. FB Brad Lau had 3 catches for 24 yards, and QB Jared Zabransky had 57 yards on the ground on 11 runs, plus 3 TDs through the air. RB Brett Denton had 5 runs for 37 yards.

The article in SI today attributes most of the success on offense to Ian Johnson. It doesn't even mention Parreta's name! It mentions Zabransky and Hall though.

He's entrepreneurial; he crochets hats and scarves and sells them to friends. He sold soup and candy to classmates in highschool. He's entrepreneurial.

Jeremy Bloom takes endorsements to be a world class skier and train for the Winter Olympics and is "ineligible" and "undersized."

Craig Krenzel and Mike Vrabel complete pre-Med programs at Ohio St. and Vrabel is "marginal" in Pittsburg and Krenzel is not "athletic" enough to get much of a shot.
