...with only 2 non-whites in their starting line-up;
Ethan Ampadu, who is 3/4 white and 1/4 Ghanaian.
Kieffer Moore, who is 7/8 white and 1/8 Chinese.

Apart from England, they'll be the first team from the British Isles to play in a World Cup since Ireland played in the 2002 World Cup, where they were knocked out in the Round of 16 by Spain on penalties.

Wales had an amazing Euro 2016, unfortunately they were defeated in the semi-finals by Portugal After beating Belgium 3-1 in the quarter-finals,

They are a pearl in the midst of the rubbish in which much of Great Britain's football (apart from England) is found from the 90's onwards With the scotland that until 98 was a regular participant of the world cup, never being able to qualify for a world cup again (Did not participate in any World Cup in the 21st century, In fact, from the the British Isles, only Ireland and England managed to qualify for a world cup this century, now Wales will participate) I hope Wales will have a good cup, an incredible feat considering football is not the country's main sport, losing to Rugby.

I will support Wales and hope they take points in the group stage from England and the gay, gay USA. Bale is a fascinating player, and I admire his Tom Brady-esque training/lifestyle habits.

However, we will never know if Wales would have defeated Russia in the elimination game that FIFA spitefully disqualified them from playing.

Glad Wales got in! In the process knocking out Ukraine.

Fair point regarding Russia, @Phall .

Man I lost a bundle on this game a the Mohegan Sun Sports betting complex. I thought man a bunch of Ukraneans against Wales. Christ if they don't die on the field from being out of the ocean how are they going to score with a bunch of fins and no feet? :)

A tourist walks into an English pub. While he is waiting for his beer, he notices two rather big women next to him talking in a strange accent. He walks up to them and says:

"Excuse me, I can't quite put my finger on your accent -- are you two ladies from Ireland?"

They get outraged and snap back: "It's Wales, you idiot!"

"Oh, I'm sorry. Are you two whales from Ireland?"

Good to see them get in. Hopefully they get result against England and beat US, Iran (think it's Iran as well)

They have some solid players like Davies and Ramsey. Guys like Daniel James need to step up to their potential. Bale is on the downside of a great career, he needs to find a club and have a good build up, with game time.

the problem I see in bale is that he lacks motivation he has already won everything in clubs (Three Champions League in a row in Real, with the right to a bicycle goal in the final against Liverpool in 2018) At least that's how I see him without motivation to play in clubs, but he still has the motivation to play for the national team, I hope he makes a great world cup.

Wales should be supported!

I also think they can do well as they only need to beat an artificially diverse US team and Iran. Even England could be beat, as they haven’t had much success with their diverse squads, other than their outlier Euro Cup performance. Hopefully they’ll return to blowing it on the big stage.

That's looks to be a good call on England after their last game against Hungary !!

Gareth Bale signed on a free transfer this month with MLS outfit LAFC. He picked the American league in no small part because he'll be playing through the summer and fall to prepare for the oddly-timed World Cup. LAFC are firmly at the top of the league table and really did not need a star signing to lean on. Bale accepted a very steep reduction in wages to fit the salary cap restrictions of his hand-picked team. He'll probably move on in 2023, making this a short-term rental arrangement.
