Steelers hire Brian Flores as a LB Coach. So much for him never being hired again lol. Also so much for Pittsburgh keeping any White LBs besides Watt going forward.

Bucky, you might be right. But I think Flores' time in Miami showed he was no better or no worse (in terms of being "anti-white") than your typical, cucked white NFL coach. Flores certainly never showed he held militant hatred towards whites, like Uncle Tom Ken Norton Jr. from Seattle clearly displayed.

One thing I noticed at the end of the season, is T.J. Watt and Joe Schobert were inseparable on the sideline during games. And why not, they've probably been close friends since their time at the University of Wisconsin. Considering how elite they are athletically (Schobert's pre-draft workouts were great), they might be friends since their early-to-mid teens playing for elite teams in various sports in Wisconsin?

Also, rumor is the Steelers might ditch Derek Watt, who got a healthy fullback contract, but rarely played. If the Steelers purge his brother and Schobert, might T.J. be more likely to leave first chance he gets? I think without Watt, Schobert would be gone, only due to racial reasons. But keeping T.J. happy might help Joe?

It's obvious Tomlin has the Steelers head coach job on lock down similar to a supreme court justice, I think only BB could hire the potentially toxic Flores for his coaching staff and not have drama with upper management and ownership of a franchise.

That's about right. The Rooneys intend for Tomlin to be their head coach for at least another 15 years as long as the Steelers still finish at around .500 or so even if they never get a whiff of the Super Bowl again as it's already been 11 years since their last Super Bowl appearance and 13 years since their last win, both early on in Tomlin's tenure.

Tomlin is still only 49 and the team takes perverse pride in not firing head coaches and they don't want to make a Black one -- the poster boy for the Rooney Rule -- the exception. A fairly long period of bottom feeding by the team is the only thing that threatens Tomlin's job security.

The Steelers have $29 million in salary cap space to work with this offseason, an unusually high number for them in recent years. One of the local rags has an article about it today by Joe Rutter. He writes: "The Steelers have some bloated salaries on the books -- linebacker Joe Schobert's $9.72 million price tag is one example. . ."

Yep, only Schobert, one of the most consistent and productive inside linebackers in the league, is singled out. When that starts happening with a White player it often means the local media is following the lead of their "inside sources" in the organization and repeating the party line.

I just looked at the 2022 cap hit for various Steelers players. Stephon Tuitt, who missed all of last season due to injury and the death of his brother and who still hasn't indicated if he's even returning for the '22 campaign, has a cap hit of just under $14 million. Zach Banner, an injury prone tackle who has been terrible when he's played (he's suited up for just 30 of a possible 65 regular season games so far), has a cap hit of $6.6 mil for this year. ILB Devin Bush, who is shaping up to be one of the all-time first round busts, has a cap hit of over $6 million, which makes Schobert dirt cheap by comparison. But of course it's Schobert who is singled out.

Don, every offseason report I read always targets the White athletes disproportionately. I read one for the Giants where Blake Martinez should be targeted for a pay cut. It’s obvious what they are doing.

Underpaid and faster to be waived is the status of many White players in the NFL, not to mention drafted later or not at all, under-recruited or forced to switch positions or play at a lower level of college play than their talent warrants, and otherwise negatively stereotyped and snubbed from the high school level up.

The Steelers cut tackling machine Joe Schobert, replacing him with non-tackling machine Myles Jack. They'll now pair Jack, an early second round bust, inside with first round mega-bust Devin Bush. Oh dat upside!

Pathetic, we'll see where Schobert ends up next. He's been disrespected a lot last couple seasons. There's gotta be a team out there that values him..

I guess it shouldn't be a surprise Brian Flores is running that LB room now. If TJ didn't lead League in Sacks he'd be on chopping block as well.

I didn’t like how the Steelers used him. They turned him into less of a tackling machine. I hope he goes to a team who runs a 4-3. As a traditional MLB, he dominates.

The Steelers started to phase Schobert out toward the end of the season as during the last regular season game and then their playoff loss Schobert played just 41% and 54% of the snaps. He was actually outsnapped in those games by Robert Spillane, who likely will be purged as well, or at best brought back as a WSTD and backup linebacker. Schobert has been put on a career arc the past two years leading to being a backup from here on out, hope I'm wrong and he still starts this season but don't be surprised if he doesn't.

I’d like to see Schobert land with the Patriots. Donta Hightower was their starting MLB for the last 10 years but they have not re-signed him, I think Schobert would be a nice replacement. They also have not re-signed the other starting MLB Ja’Whaun Bentley, and they let Kyle Van Noy go. So LB is a big need for the Patriots at the moment.

Wow… Steelers QB Dwayne Haskins died this morning after being hit by a car. Most people here didn’t like him but nonetheless very tragic news. RIP.

Don't be surprised if it turns out that rather than "training with his teammates" Haskins was partaking of the South Florida nightlife when the accident happened, just as he was wont to do when he was a Redskin, but obviously still a very sad event. RIP

He was down in Boca Raton to train with most of the Steelers offensive skill guys. The incident likely occurred after a night on the town though, I’m sure details will come out in the next day or so, sad stuff.

I wasn't questioning that he was there to train with teammates, only that he may have been doing something else when the accident occurred. I have no problem with young men enjoying nightlife, but in Haskins' case his fondness for strip clubs over working to become a serviceable quarterback is one of the primary reasons Washington jettisoned him so quickly.

I’m now seeing reports that it was about 6:30am and he was heading to a workout, something happened to his car on the highway and when he got out was struck by a dump truck. Nothing confirmed yet but that’s what I’m seeing.

Some guys have a cloud that forms around them and follows them where ever they go. He appears to be one such guy. One thing if he wasn't intoxicated crossing highways in Florida isn't as crazy as it seems as they intersect edges of cities and tragedies like this happen more frequently than you would think if you didn't know the type of highways that they are.

In Toronto areas that were farm country have similar highways but with outer suburban growth many have had speed limits reduced. I recall nearly getting a ticket on a stretch of one these highways a good decade ago as I had been in the area in at least that time and didn't realize the speed limit had changed due to more density of the area.

I’m sorry that the guy died and losing a life that soon is tragic.

Florida Highway Patrol spokesperson Lt. Indiana Miranda said Haskins was pronounced dead at the scene.

"He was attempting to cross the westbound lanes of Interstate 595 when there was oncoming traffic," Miranda said in an emailed statement.

She didn't say why Haskins was on the highway near Fort Lauderdale at the time. The accident caused the highway to be shut down for several hours, and Miranda said it's "an open traffic homicide investigation."
From this report though I’d say Haskins was very stupid, or at minimum, took an unnecessary risk. What good reason would you have to cross an interstate highway? If your car broke down, walk on your side of the highway to the nearest entrance or exit. If you don’t want to go through all that, just stay in your car and call AAA or 911. After all, you’re rich. Pay someone else to deal with the car troubles. Of course the other possibility is he was drunk or high, and being impaired, made a dumb move.
