Since 2005, Washington started 6, 8, 9, 8, 8, 6, 5, 4, 6, 8, 9, 11, 8 and 10 white players, excluding 2014 where no write-up was done. In 2021 they are projected to start 8*

I was thinking of using either this thread or the UNC thread to bring up the discussion of "What qualifies as a White athlete?" Jacob "Asa" Turner appears to be very much a White athlete when looking at him but he has at least a quarter of Asian heritage. I was initially reluctant to include him as a White athlete and was on the record with not agreeing that he should be counted. I have re-calibrated my own personal views and believe that he should now be counted as a White athlete. He will be treated as so - he has no obvious Asian traits when looking at him. The reason I brought up UNC is that I believe Sam Howell is partially Asian - pretty sure his maternal grandmother is Asian. Howell like Turner has no obvious physical characteristis that would label him as Asian. Just wanted to get that out of the way and am curious to hear what other's think. I think transparency and presenting all the facts is important when discussing this - especially to see how the media covers these players.

UW is probably one of the better teams to root for in the PAC 12. They have several White athletes on the roster with NFL bloodlines - LB Carson Breuner is the son of former Steelers TE Mark Breuner, LB Jackson Sirmon - the son of former NFL LB Peter Sirmon (a very good yet forgotten player from the early 00s) and QB Sam Huard (Damon Huard's son and Brock Huard's nephew).

Players to look out for include QB Patrick O'Brien, QB Sam Huard, OL Corey Luciano OL Matteo Mele, TE Jack Westover, WR Sawyer Racanelli, DT Jacob Bandes, LB Cooper McDonald, LB Carson Breuner, LB Drew Fowler,

Offense:
QB - Dylan Morris
RB - Sean McGrew*** will most likely get alot of touches but not be the starter
TE - Cade Otton
LT - Jaxson Kirkland
C - Luke Wattenberg

Defense:
OLB - Ryan Bowman
ILB - Jackson Sirmon
S - Asa Turner

I'd say yes on Turner for what my opinions worth.

Pretty decent looking Washington team. They have just enough skill players and a QB to keep me interested. Breakout year for McGrew on the way!

I’m with y’all on this one. I don’t care what the guys heritage from generations ago is, if he looks white and 95% of fans/media assume he’s white then he counts in my book. I’ve always been pretty laxed on it, like Zach Wilson for example is 25% poly because his dad is half Hawaiian, but no one is ever gonna know that unless they do research.

Also it looks like Washington is stocking up on LB’s! Would love to see a snow patrol from them.

I’m going to stick to a case by case basis. The eyeball test is certainly the best way for us to gauge how the average fan views these players. I don’t think anyone would view Howell, Turner or Wilson as anything but white. The problem comes in if/when that their is non-white lineage and it is exploited or focused on with way too much emphasis (Sam Bradford having indian heritage is a great example).

When it comes to players who are partially black I refuse to acknowledge them as White though. I feel that somewhere along the line with those types they got the benefits of the caste system for being at least partially black. Just my .02

McGrew was named as a Doak Walker pre season person of interest.
He’ll get the carries hopefully.

75% White and 25% Asian is White to me. 50/50 I consider Asian.

Just for reference, a certain regime in Germany classified those who were 75% White and 25% Jewish as White (with certain exceptions).

Yeah asa Turner is likely 25% Polynesian unless he’s not biologically related to the mother he posted on Instagram. His sister is a crazy example of white genes dominating if that’s her mother.

it’s hard to tell with questionable whites born in Hawaii. I have a delusional 100% white childhood friend whs mother was born on a military base in Hawaii to white parents, but he claims he’s mixed and Polynesian, full body tribal tattoos and everything. A lot of those white guys fake being tribal.

think of the classic redneck guy who claims to be 1/16th Cherokee haha
Here’s asa and his sister and mom

Huskies Head Coach Jimmy Lake fired - he was much celebrated as the successor to Chris Petersen. Supposedly fired for shoving players.

Let’s hope Uw doesn’t hire a caste nightmare. Lake, a black head coach, recruited white players heavily and played many.
