Sad news today Phil Rizzuto passed away today, my best tribute to Scooter is his signature phrase, Holy Cow! He will be missed.

A great, all around player from a bygone era. Here, let me get my baseball book out. A great fielding white shortstop. The White American shortstop is about as endangered as an Asian lion. Well, I'm off to play a legion game.Edited by: Freedom

I remember Phil Rizzuto as a pesky hitter and fine fielding shortstop. He could run well and bunt runners over. I didn't like the Yankees, but nobody didn't like Rizzuto. Everybody liked him. Even us Dodger fans.

Played too long ago for most of us but a sad reminder of when white guys were special in baseball. Small but very quick and fast the Scooter was a great fielder, baserunner and could play little ball with the best. A team leader too despite his size and people poking fun.

A fine player and symbol of what is good about America. I'm not sure that he deserved to be elected to the HOF, but he was certainly a very good player, and a memorable part of those great Yankee teams. RIP Scooter.

As a player he was mariginal hall of famer, but you could argue he has merit as a broadcaster too. Also I forgot to mention his place in pop icon history in the song Paradise by the Dash Board Light.

PbtDBL was by Meat Loaf. Sort of a mini-rock opera. Scooter's pbp comes in at the beginning of the song's climax.RIP Money Store Man. (Anyone remember Rizutto's "pitches"

for that loan office, The Money Store? Jim Palmer, who *was* a pitcher, did spots for TMS too.

In short: The Polar Opposite,character-wise,on every level,of black "players", everything black "players/athletes" never have been, and will NEVER be.

Redundant,of course - because what White Player isn't?Even the worst White is always far more civilized than blacks,no matter how uncivilized - but is never stated enough.Edited by: Weltner
