The NCAA Indoor Championships are on this weekend.

Here's a quick run-down of some guys to keep an eye on:

-In the 60m John Teeters is the #1 seed, meaning he has the fastest time of all the entrants.
-In the 200m Sam Watts is seeded #5.
-In the 400m Cody Rush is #4, Christopher Giesting #7, and Zack Bilderback #10.
-In the 60m Hurdles, Sebastian Barth is seeded #3. I wonder what happened to Jonathan Cabral of Oregon? Devon Allen is recovering from his football injury.
-In the 4x400m relay Nebraska is seeded #4, with
an all-white quartet. Photo here:

-High Jump, Wally Ellenson, a basketball player for Marquette is seeded #1
-Long Jump,
Roelf Pienaar, is seeded #3. Where is Corey Crawford of Rutgers this year? Last year he was sensational.
In the Triple Jump, Manuel Ziegler is seeded 4th.

On the whole, things look very good going into the meet. There is a potential medalist in every sprint, hurdle, and jump event.
Let's hope these guys can come through on expectations and get a few medals.
Good Luck!

A quick update from the 1st day of the NCAA Championships:

The big news is Jenna Prandini.
She won the Long Jump, and was the fastest qualifier in both the 60m and 200m.
It will be a tall order, but hopefully she can win 2 more gold medals. Go Jenna!

John Teeters won his heat in the 60m and qualified for the finals.
Zach Bilderback was the fifth fastest qualifier for the 400m final.
Sam Watts qualified for the 200m final.
So a white sprinter in all 3 men's sprint finals.

Did you get to watch this live? I would love to see videos of the races. Hoping to find a way to watch it live tommorow for the finals. Thanks for the great updates.

I didn't see the events live, but there is a live feed via ESPN 3.

A few more notes from Day 1 -
Shawn Barber of Akron (and Canada) set a Collegiate record in the pole vault - 19ft 4-3/4"

Jenna Prandini's time in the 200m, 22.55, is a PB and #8 all-time collegiate.
Her time in the 60m, 7.15, is also a PB.
She looks good for the 200m, but the 60m will be tough. There are several girls all within hundredths of a second of each other.

John Teeters finished second at the NCAA indoor finals today. He ran a blazing 6.54. If he does not burn out this spring and summer he should be going sub 10. That would do wonders for whites in the U.S. participating at the high school level or younger. Teeters has run sub 6.6 6 times this year I believe. Pretty damn impressive.

Do you have a link to the race video? Amazing indoor season but damn I was hoping he would win. He was the favorite. At least he ran hard and just barely lost. The kid is for real. Amazing talent and it's about time someone from here does well in the short sprints. Please let him go sub 10 this year to shut up all the stupid americans who despite what Lemaitre has done still say it's impossible.

Here is an overdue update on what happened at the NCAA Indoor Championships ---

John Teeters came 2nd in the 60m. His main rivals were DQ'd, and he was favored to win, but came 2nd by 2/100s. Still, the last time a white collegian medaled in the NCAA 60m indoor championships?...... I don't know!

Eric Jenkins of Oregon won both the 3000 and 5000m. Quite a feat.

Nebraska's all white, Men's 4 x400m relay team got the silver medal. Fantastic running.

On the women's side, Jenna Prandini finished a disappointing 4th place in the 60m, running 1/10 second slower in the final than she had in the semis. Similarly, she ran 2/10s slower in the 200m final than she had in the heat, and finished 2nd. All that racing, combined with long jumping, obviously affected her performances. Hopefully she can build more stamina for the outdoor season. She should have won the 200m, and taken 2nd in the 60m.
But she did win the LJ!
