In Haiti people eat mud pies!

This is NOT from the Onion, this is a real news story.

I'm thinking of going down there and opening up a "Dirt Pie Shack." Maybe franchise it out. Anyone want to go in on it? I believe the overhead costs are going to be very low!

In Haiti's worst slum, Cite Soleil, people actually make and eat mud pies. Now, the dust is collected from the central region of Haiti in an area called Hinche.

It's mixed with water. Here, Myriene Vincent and her son Onelove work, pushing the dirt through a cheesecloth, separating it from twigs and stones and mixing it into a batter.
Now once the batter is made, it's swirled out onto plastic mats and dried in the sun.

People made dozens of these every day. They're normally eaten by pregnant women and sometimes children.

Here, Mary Pierre actually collects hers, and she's going to sell them five for a dime in the Cite Soleil market.

Now, people say it's not so much out of hunger that they eat them, but "sometimes, you just crave dirt."

You are what you eat

This is mean. They are starving to death and live under a brutal dictatorship. The ultra wealthy(many who are black) treat the poor like sh*t. The aristocracy prevents any legal, legitimate rise to power. It is not their fault that they're poor. Read A Taste of Salt. Poverty doesn't always come from immorality/laziness, stupidity. Sometimes, it is just bad luck.

I've never seen a major league ballplayer that lists Haiti as his country of origin(though many have French surnames and Spanish first names). Haiti is the #1 exporter of baseball apparell I think.

P.S. Maybe if Haiti and the Dominican Republic were better off, we would have more whites in baseball because kids wouldn't live in baseball academies.Edited by: Freedom

What you're describing is called 'Geophagy' or, as a pathology, 'Pica'...and it's not especially odd or uncommon all over the world, especially among pregnant women and children.

It's obvious enough that people who live on very narrow sorts of diets might find they crave whatever inert stuff contains the trace minerals they lack. It's not even so much a poverty issue.

Haiti is a cess-pool!To point out the obvious is not mean spirited. Blacks left to their own devices are not capable of producing anything remotely comparable to white civilization. To argue otherwise mocks the truth and thousands of years of history.

What about the very wealthy blacks in Haiti that barely feed the poor "cake". How is that different from 18th century France. I'm sure millions of whites ate dirt before the French Revolution.

Their beliefs, philosophies, and practices are what determine their actions largely, like any other people.

This seems to be an innate negr0id trait.

Central Georgia has enormous deposits of kaolin, a fine white clay that is used, among other things, to produce the slick paper that magazines are printed on. Kaolin mining is a huge industry there.

The local black women, however, sometimes EAT the kaolin, especially when they are pregnant. Of course, there is no medical benefit to them (and some experts warn that it could be detrimental to the development of the fetuses) but no amount of public service warnings have been able to stop them from eating it. It's stories like this that make you believe that blacks are closer to the beast than to man.

I heard a sports show host say that it is silly to scrutinize a prospect on the bad plays hemade. Judgment instead should be based on the awesome potential evidenced by the greatness he has already shown.


To use the Frecnch as a comparison to blacks when it comes to culinary habits is funny. If the French had to endure eating dirt, which I doubt, they probably could have made -mud pies- to die for, as is the expression. All people have suffered deprivations, but white people have risen from the dust and ashes to create fabulous wonders. The French and Italians did not need blacks to pave the way for them. If not for rubbing shoulders with whites, blacks would still be eating grubs, roots and berries washed down withthe blood of goats and cows. Very tasty treats in comparison to the gruel found in French restaurants I'm sure.

I seriously doubt a black man invented the spear, but if so, is that something to brag about? A monkey is also capable of using a sharp stick and implements, but they haven't evolved much further.


Western civilization owes it's existence to the spear?? An overstatement to say the least.

You need not mention that the women who eat this mud are pregnant. That is a given. These third worlders are perpetually pregnant. Your compassion for these people is not reciprocated. All of you bleeding hearts join forces with corporatists in order to bring these Blacks and Browns to the Western World. If you want to be a martyr or sacrificial lamb at the altar to the myth of equality go to Sudan or Haiti. Don't drag us down with you.
