As Far as I can see, this situation with black QB's is just all publicity. These businessme/owners know what we know. They're in business to make money and that's what they're doing. So, they know that if the put up one or more of these black guys each year, it's positive publicity. Yeah, the guy will bomb as a QB, but his value isn't as a QB, it's as publicity. Whatever the blacks are doing at the position isn't important. It's only important to have a constant flow of them. Just my take on it.

Tom Iron...

Tom you are absolutely correct,

I went to Dicks Sporting Goods a couple of months ago. In the shoe section was a life sized cut-out of Cam Newton that was surrounded by under armour football shoes in all different colors and styles. A couple of rows over was the addidas section with a life sized cut-out of RG III surrounded by addidas football shoes. It is no secret who is being catered to. Remember this is the same crowd that stands in line overnight to buy the latest pair of athletic shoes and are willing to pay $500-$1000 for them. This is a crowd of consumers, that will stop at nothing to "look good", and buy the new product. The corporations know this, and exploit it. This just confirms what I have read somewhere regarding marketing. If blacks see black people in the advertisement, sales of that good or object increase significantly among them. So like everything else in this country, the NFL has succumbed to the corporat-ocracy. According to the same study I read on marketing, the same techniques have no affect on the white male population.

About 10-15 years ago Nike decided to enter the hockey market. They started making ice skates and were charging about $150 more than any other brand was charging at the time (CCM, Bauer etc...) Nike also paid good money to the top professional hockey players at the time to wear Nike skates (Federov was one of them). As somebody actively involved in hockey at different levels, I was really intrigued by this effort by Nike to crack the hockey market. The result was a total failure. Of all the high school hockey games I went to that year and thereafter, I didn't recall seeing one pair. In the pick up league I played in, not one pair. I asked my friend who coached elite level high school players about Nike and he crinkled his nose at me. In fact he had one kid that turned down a scholarship to a top Div I team, (but signed with another), strictly because the school had a deal with Nike that all their players would wear Nike skates. Today the Nike brand ice skate is non-existent.

I can't remember that afflete's name, but I recall that when he filed for bankruptcy on the list of items of value he had something like 500 pairs of Air Jordans.

I don't keep up with hockey much but I do recall that Nike used to own Bauer, did Nike try to pass Bauer off as inferior during their foray into hockey?

After Nike failed at selling an overpriced skate with the "swoosh" on it, they bought out Bauer. They have since kept the Bauer name and logo on all their merchandise. (I know this is off topic of the thread, but week 7 is in the dustbin)

I'm having some fun over on a Political Forum I frequent. Someone posted a thread about black QBs being overhyped and over protected. I've kinda turned the thread around to "white players at the skill positions being underhyped and under protected" i.e. discriminated against. Its pretty funny seeing the typical DWF responses coming out. Take a look:

What a bunch of numbskulls, when it comes to sports and race anyway. Is the non-sports political discourse any less ignorant? What's the general ideological tilt of that board?

It is actually a pretty good mix of right and left.....and the mods are pretty lenient...I generally get banned from most forums after a couple of months but not on this site. This is the first sports related thread I have seen....and, of course, it couldn't have been more suited to my interests vis a vis sports. This was my favorite DWF response to my allegations of discrimination against white RBs, WRs and DBs:

That is ridiculous... You do know that right... Why – do you think that some 5’11 white guy who runs a 40 slower than your linebackers should get a shot? I am a Raider Fan – you name ANY white guy in the NFL that runs the 40 in lower than 4.25?

Do you have your answer?

Note the immediate inclination to identify with "team".....followed by the denegration of white athletes as short, small and slow....followed by the slobbering over black affroletes who apparently all run 4.25 fortys. I later pointed out to this idiot that the Raiders have a "short, small and slow" WR in the HOF named Freddy.....no response....LMAO.

The most interesting thing to come out of this thread is that I have used the term "DWF" on several occassions and nobody has asked me what that means.....we're making progress here, Don!

DWF?

OK long time lurker (last 2 years) and I finally took the plunge and registered here. My impetus to finally act on this impulse is to learn what the hell does DWF mean?

Thanks in advance.

That is a funny video but it also gives him credit. He can't be covered and that's why Welker is leading the NFL with 688 yards receiving heading into the weekend. It's just a shame that Brady ignorred him most of last week or he would have padded his lead.

Our quarterbacks are holding their own with the top 4 passing yards overall. Brady is only a few yards from passing Eli Manning to lead the league in passing yards per game. Feed Welker. Feed Woodhead and always fee the Gronk! Lol.

DWF has always meant Dumb White Fan to me.

The problem is that even non-fans of sports buy into the caste speak. People who know nothing about sports buy into the "Blacks are better athletes" BS just the same as sports fans.

That too, especially the ones that don't drink.

I'm reading a depressing article right now that goes into great detail describing the sorry state of the processed, manipulated, indoctrinated, enfeebled, obese, mindless mass of American DWFs:

Don, I visit the burning platform daily and occasionally post, it's a great website with fantastic articles :)

Over on the official website nfl.com, they have an article on JJ Watt and his chance to win the nfl mvp. It rarely goes to a defensive player but he is one of the select few that is deserving in my honest opinion. I've never understood why Welker never really factors in year after year. He is just as valuable to the Pats as Brady is. He is the best receiver in the nfl by a landslide. No one can put up the numbers he does year after year and it doesn't matter where you line him up or whos covering him.

JJ Watt is leading the league in sacks but Clay Matthews is only a half sack behind him. It's great to see both of these guys having incredible seasons.
