Steelers will not beat the Colts...they'll lose by at least
10. Colts will then beat the Broncos and go to the
Superbowl. In the NFC it won't matter who wins the Bears/Carolina
game because I can't see either of those teams going into Seattle and
winning.

Colts win. Way to go Peyton! Of course we'll have to endure
all of the "Tony Dungy is the first black to win a SB crap." But
I will put up with it if it means Manning will get a ring.

I did feel like Vinateri's missed field goal was a very bad omen for the Patriots. Kind of made it a complete team effort in playing poorly that day.

Actually I thought the Patriots offense moved the ball well against the Denver D (watch out for the Colts.) The Pat's special team unit had two fumbles deep in their own territory, and the Broncos scored off both of them. Brady's INT was forced and a legit steal by Bailey. Then Vinatieri's miss was almost as bad as a turnover.

Although the Pats receivers made some really tough catches at the beginning of the game, there were a few dropped passes on 3rd down in the second half that killed them.

When you have two special team fumbles and missed field goals, its gonna be hard for any team to win. I still don't think the Broncos are that much better a team than the Pats.

Since there are no black quarterbacks in the playoffs, the media will cling to the story of the first black head coach to win the superbowl. I will be rooting against any team with a black head coach. Right now I am leaning towards rooting for the Broncos because they have the whitest offensive line.

Tim Dwight should have been returning punts and kickoffs all year for the patriots IMO.

After the Seahawks game, a reporter interviewd Hasselbeck and commended him on his performance. Instead of basking in glory for even a moment , he immediately deflected the praise and directed it ALL to his teammates.


Champ Bailey on the other hand who was beaten repeatedly by the Pats had this to sayafter the game about his interception: "It was a great play by me"


Are white athletes behind the times? All the self promotion doesn't seem to hurt the image of black players. They just get more famous and richer. Should whitesadopt the same strategy?

It would just backfire. The media rewards it when it's done by blacks, but condemns it when done by whites. Plus black "teammates" hate it when a white man doesn't follow the required modesty script.


Have you noticed that it's taken this far into the 2005 season for Hasselbeck to get a little recognition? He's only been the best QB in the NFC by quite a bit. Yet what is his publicity ratio compared to Vick, Culpepper and McNabb. The latter two were injured most of the season yet received much more publicity than Matt.

yesterday we had John Lynch's crunching tackles, QB pressures and game sealing interception, little dose of JJ in Seattle game...

today weve had two great white tight ends: Dallas Clark and Heath Miller...

Clark had 4 catches for 75 yards, including a huge 50 yard touchdown catch and Miller had 3 catches for 61 yards and a short TD catch as well...

Wow, how 'bout that? Two white players leading a story in the NFL. How often does that happen?

I'm sure the libs and blacks are complaining that those guy's pics were posted to appease the white folks. Just another means of keepin' a brother down.

Also, of the 12 teams to make the playoffs, 9 have white wide receivers, though Sean Morey of the Steelers is strictly a Special Teams Demon.

i feel bad for Brian and Hunter they both had solid games... Urlacher's interception was a thing of beauty

I hate like the dickens, that the game I was wrong on was the ONLY one I cared about. Since Brady and the Pats are down for the count, I could care less who goes to the Super Bowl.


Well, the press has got to be feeling lower than a snakes belly. Marvin Lewis went down in flames along with Dungy and Smith. Poor Lovie was out-Foxed today. The Cajun played very well and even Grossman wasn't bad considering his limited experience. Urlacher made a sensational INT but in the end the Cats had 450combined yardsagainst another -great? - Chicago defense.


Kudo's to Big Ben, who throws well, runs great and plays smart. Heckuva game saving tackle by him too.


I couldn't quite hear the telecast because of noise, but didn't Manning wave off the kicking team? Did you see Dungy's expression? Then Manning hits Stokley and Clark for big plays. Wow. Unless something happened that I missed, people are gonna talk about that.


Actually, Manning had a good game. The defense wasn't very good and his offensive line was overwhelmed at times. Don't tell me Peyton choked, that's BS. Pittsburgh just flat out beat em. Van der Jagt may have felt the pressure. And Marvin Harrison was not significant.


After I sent this post, I noticed you guys made a couple of the same observations.


Talk about a lot of lame officiating? How did they call pass interference on the Pats and today let a Carolina receiver get his arms pinned at the goal line on a long pass from Jake? No flag??

Dungy said after the game that he told Peyton (through his helmet) that they were goingfor it on fourth down and Manning was merely waving off the punting unit which had come on the field prematurely. Sounds reasonable to me; Manning has more autonomy than any other QB, but not enough to make a call like that.

I tell u what, bettis ought to be kissing big ben's a** for making that TD saving tackle

so true about Bettis... that would suck for his career to end like that, losing them a game in playoffs...

anyways my Superbowl might still come true: Seattle vs Broncos (although the way Steelers are playing, who knows)

It is a sad day in American history.As Don pointed out, all the black QB's have bitten the dust and Lovie, Tony and Marvin went down in bitter defeat. Denny has failed miserably, Romeo hasn't done much and Herm has left New York with a dark cloud over his head. What a way to celebrate Martin Luther King's holiday? Taint fair I tell Ya!

why is that your Super Bowl dream? I'm kinda thinking that its going to be a boring Super Bowl regardless, with the four teams that are left. None of the matchups are all that intriguing really.

The only dogs we have left in the hunt are Big Ben and Jake Plummer. It would be good to see one of those guys win a SB. But other than that.. do you want to see Mike Holmgrem with another ring, after what he's done in the caste system?

Whoever wins, I'll be rooting for the AFC.

The Panthers are the Patriots of the NFC. An under-rated, clutch quarterback, white fullback, white tight end, 3-4 white starters on the offensive line, Ricky Proehl still making plays, an excellent MLB in Dan Morgan, and Carstens doing well on the d-line. Eight white starters today, one of the whitest rosters in the league (relatively speaking of course). I'm gonna be pulling for the Steelers, but the Panthers aren't bad from an anti-Caste perspective.

Ok Don, I changed my mind.

I've liked Delhomme from his days as a Saint. I used to say the same thing about him then, that we say about Matt Schaub in Atlanta now. I'm glad he got a chance to start somewhere else. The Pats - Panthers was a great Super Bowl.

I don't know, maybe this Super Bowl will actually be competitive, with the teams that are left.

Well, since you asked. Don is right about about the make up of Carolina's team. I just may have to root for them. Somehow, they seem to fall between the cracks on our discussion boards. Look at the quarterbacks left in the hunt. Delhomme, Big Ben, Jake the Snake and Hasselbeck. All of them can throw the ball well, are elusivein the pocket and can tuck the ball and run when needed.Actually, they are athletic and tough as nails, but don't get described as such very often.

Kickers are easily the scapegoats in any game, as they're out there on an island for all the world to see their successes and failures. But how many games have turned on a fumble or blown tackle, or a dropped pass? Did Bobby Engram suffer for his dropped pass in the Seahawk's playoff game last year? The one play theory says he cost the 'Hawks the game. But he was back on the field for the Seahawks the following year.

Vanderjagt won't be out of a job long. Jose Cortez played for four teams this year. No way Vandy doesn't get signed somewhere.

I am starting to think of the Colts as the new Bills... only they can't even make it to the Super Bowl.

Nothing will probably change there for awhile though because there is no way in the world the Colts Front Office will fire Dungy after his sons suicide for like 2 seasons probably

I think a Panthers/ Broncos SB would be interesting, there are alot of players on both teams that are likable (Plummer, Lynch, Delhomme, Ricky Prohel...)

As much as I criticized them, the Colts were far and away my favorite
playoff team. I could like Carolina, except for the fact their offense
revolves around the thoroughly disgusting Steve Smith. This little thug
was such a "behavior problem" that he couldn't even make it onto a
major NCAA team until attending a junior college first.
Curiously, another obnoxious WR, Chad Johnson, was on the same junior
college team. Smith jumped and sucker punched a teammate from behind a
few years back, and the guy had to be hospitalized afterwards. As far
as I know, Smith wasn't punished in the least for this assault, by his
team or the league. The player who was assaulted was quickly and
unceremoniously cut, revealing again the NFL' s lack of integrity quite
clearly. But then again, it seems like almost every team has at least
one thoroughly distasteful player on its roster, so it really is hard
to root for anyone these days in the NFL.
