The leader of Paterno's stingy defense, linebacker Paul Posluszny, won the Chuck Bednarik Trophy, given to the best defensive player in the country. The other finalists were Ohio State linebacker A.J. Hawk and Maryland linebackers D'Qwell Jackson.

Posluszny ranks fourth in the Big Ten with 111 tackles and an average of 10.1 tackles per game. He has recorded 11 tackles for a loss and three sacks.
Mike Hass, the NCAA's leader in receiving yards (139.3 per game), beat out Dwayne Jarrett of Southern California and Jeff Samardzija of Notre Dame for the Fred Biletnikoff Award as the nation's best wideout.

Minnesota center Greg Eslinger won the Outland Trophy as the country's best lineman, Oregon State's Alexis Serna took the Groza Award as the nation's top kicker. Wake Forest punter Ryan Plackemeier was the Ray Award winner.

Reggie Bush came away with the Walter Camp player of the year award and the Doak Walker Award given to the nation's best running back. As we have oftimes mentioned, when Luke Staley won the Doak Walker Award he was rewarded with a 7th round draft pick, think ol' Reggie will have to wait seven rounds to hear his name called?

Also note Bush's humility after winning the award: "I guess I'm the best running back, at least this year," Have you EVER heard a white player describe himself that way in an acceptance speech???

Gary Barnett finally got booted from Colorado. He is the classic example of how winning can excuse anything for a coach. His program was rocked with scandals involving sex and drugs for recruits, illegal enticements for players and the accusation of rape by a female kicker who played for them a shrt while. All of it was excused as long as he was winning. So after two humiliating losses, a 70-3 loss to Texas last Saturday on top of a 30-3 loss to Nebraska the week before (although they are still going bowling), Barnett got 3 million dollars and his walking papers. Tough life eh?

Whites won some very nice awards this year! Hopefully, this will keep going next year. There are several candidates who should be favorites for their position awards next season. Keep up the hard work guys!

Joe Namathwould proclaim himself the best QB in pro football during his playing days. Hewas the rare white sports star who talked like that.

Joe Namath's role in Super Bowl III. The actually VIPs were Matt Snell who ran for over 100 yards or the Jets defense who kept the Colts offense to only 7 points.

namath was unusual for bragging about himself. Johnny Unitas or Bart Starr never did. They let their play do the talking.

That's a major reason Namath got the tremendous media adulation he did. Namath was second only to Muhammad Ali as a sports media superstar in the late '60s and early '70s, because he fit in well with the Cultural Revolutionthatbegan kicking in with a vengeance in '68--he wasabraggadocius playboywho hadlongish hair and wore fur coats. He broke the mold of how astar white athlete should look and behave. However Broadway Joe was no intellectual or ideological true believer, rather he was a self-promoting jockwho was savvy in using the new ideological paradigm to his advantage.

Some people actually thought Namath was deliberately corrupting American youth in those days. One of them was Richard Nixon, clueless as always. Nixon, who was a sports fan, despised Namath (see Safire's book). One of Nixon's aides put Namath on the White House Enemies List. This supposedly happened after hearing the boss express his dislike of the Jet QB. This aide (Nixon's men were bunglers in all things) mistakenly listed Namath's team as the New York Giants.

LOL!

President Nixon was probably one of the last decent Presidents this country has had, (The only ones in the last 100 years being Coolidge, Nixon, and Reagan IMO) remember he managed to triangulate the Chinese against the USSR (many claim this is the reason the USSR eventually collapsed) and he also pursued the Southern Strategy, probably the LAST TIME Whites were taken seriously as a voting bloc.

I'll take a Tricky Dick any day over a Shrub.
