At some point, Dallas Cowboys rookie wide receiver Dez Bryant was going to get his comeuppance. Teammate Roy Williams all but guaranteed that during training camp.

Bryant made national news in training camp when he refused to carry Williams' pads after practice -- bucking the trend of veteran NFL players hazing rookies. Bryant later said he didn't know about such tradition.

"I'm not doing it," Bryant said then. "I feel like I was drafted to play football, not carry another player's pads."

Williams excused it, saying then that Bryant, who received $8.3 million in guaranteed money from his rookie contract, would just have to take the team out to dinner and get him some new shoes.

Well, that dinner happened Monday night. The final tab: $54,896.

Bryant took the offensive players out to Pappas Bros. Steakhouse. Williams, however, made sure Bryant got the message, inviting defensive players as well.

And guess who was left holding the bill afterward.

"They got the young fella," said Bryant's adviser, David Wells. "What could he say? He had to pay it unless he wanted to wash dishes for a month."

Players ordered basically everything on the menu and even took home bottles of wine.

After checking out the 90-page winebook, it's anybody's guess if anybody took home a bottle of Chateau Latour for $9,000. It's also possible a few players ordered a bottle of PlumpJack Reserve for $600.

No word from Bryant or Williams about the evening ... yet.

Fools and their money are soon parted. These guys don't need Obama to redistribute their wealth.

negroes absolutley LOVE "living it up" on another man's money, as the vastly disproportionate participation by said negroes in welfare programs across the nation demonstrates.

this was just another example of TNB, only with temporarily-higher-income welfare mooches doing the mooching.

I don't care who you are ... caste football member or DWF ... what happened to Dez Bryant is FUNNY! Living here in Dallas, we knew something was going to happen to him because you just don't show up a veteran like that but nobody knew what it was going to be. Farthest thing from my mind was making him pay a $55K dinner bill from Pappas Brothers Steakhouse. That is freakin hilarious! (Dez probably regrets everything now.

haha, well this kid makes millions, 55k is what 550 bucks is to us probably, hardly crippling but definitely a bitch having to waste that money.

55K here and 55K there will add up and let's not forget that after taxes he did not nearly take home 8.3 million. Unless Dez has a long and prosperous career he will probably end up bankrupt like many of his bruthas.

Just more of the typical bullying and hazing that goes on in the NFL up front and behind the scenes. Dez should have paid for his meal and walked out, draw your line in the sand and let his talent on the field which I have to admit is considerable do the talking.

I'm guessing this is a 4 star restaurant, where the average 3 course meal costs 50US+. Myself If I was Romo I would have been embarrassed to see a tab like that and I would have probably slipped the rookie my end of the tab... Edited by: white is right
